The Hydrant invented small group walks for dogs (well, almost!).

In business since 2008, I am one of the only dog walking services in downtown Toronto to focus on small groups (1 – 3). It’s a safer and healthier experience for your pup.

I provide more attention, to ensure your dog has a perfectly personalized experience and has a stress-​free walk.

I only walk dogs in my neighborhood, so there’s no long, crowded and hot car rides. I travel everywhere by foot, which gives me an eco-​edge, I’m not polluting the air, nor stressing your dog out with an unnecessary new environment.

I’ve been in the community for years, and I hope to develop a long-​term relationship with you and your dog. I know what everyone likes. Which makes life a walk in the park for everyone.

History

Established in 2008.

Talk about doing work you love. Lindsay Shostal has always been passionate about dogs and loves being active, especially outdoors. It made sense to combine these two passions and start a dogwalking business. So she founded The Hydrant in 2009 and her doberman pinscher has been in heaven ever since.



With a personal interest in large breeds, Lindsay can easily handle the largest and strongest breeds out there. Everything she has learned from raising Logan has contributed to her understanding of the special requirements of large breed dogs.

She walks a very aggressive doberman in the Wellington and Front area and is always out with this dog at the Wellington leash free. This dog has bitten my 6 month old bulldog puppy who was just playing around — she then proceeded to berate my walker on how my dog is not neutered and should not be in a leash free park!!! She is a complete idiot, doesn’t take responsibility for her dogs and now that I found her (after 4 months of trying to find out who she was from other dog owners) I am going to file a local complaint with the Animal Control board… While trying to figure out who she was I have spoken to many pet owners in the area as well as some people at the Pet Social shop, lots of people have told me this doberman (being walked by the «scraggly blonde woman») bit more than just my dog. BEWARE OF THIS WOMAN AND HER SHADY BUSINESS

Lindsay walked my dog for a few years and there were no issues whatsoever. I started noticing that my dog’s leash was not moved from the location I left it in the morning but had been using the service for years and decided to give her the benefit of the doubt. My spouse and I decided to take a day off (very last minute but we have great jobs that give us some freedom) but entirely forgot to mention it to Lindsay. She did not come to our house that day. There was no email or any indication that exceptional circumstances had arisen. She just did not walk my dog on a day she was scheduled to come. This completely freaked me out so I emailed her and asked «how was the walk today?» and she responded that he was fine on his walk (which did not occur).
So not only was my poor dog not being walked during the very long hours my spouse and I work, but I was also being ripped off.
I suppose the 5 star ratings on here are because she actually decided to show up and walk their dogs.
Never, in a million years, would I recommend this service to anyone.

I really hate to follow the crowd, but in this case, I’ll also have to give Lindsay a 5* rating :)
Lindsay has been walking and boarding our Little Fritz for about 2 ½ years since he was a puppy. I remember the days when he was a puppy and I would drop him off at daycare with her and he would run out of the elevator and right to her front door! He would come home and sleep the whole night and into the following day.
We still use Lindsay for the occasional walk and she has been nothing but reliable and responsible. With my husband and my ever changing schedule, we need someone who can flexible and Lindsay has been there for us in that respect too.
My fellow dog owners will understand how important it is that you trust the person that is taking care of your furry friend and I would highly recommend Lindsay to anyone who is looking for someone to walk/​board their dog. You can tell she loves what she does and that any dog that is in her care, is in good hands :)

Lindsay has been our true savior since the moment we met. As first time puppy parents, Lindsay’s reassuring guidance and advice has been essential. Whether it’s for a weekend, or daycare, our little Lady always comes home exhausted and content. She sequels the whole way home because she doesn’t want to leave Lindsay or her big brother Logan. With regular puppy issues like weird feeding times, medications and illnesses she is always more than accommodating and will always provide her genuine opinion. Lindsay is the only person that I can say I trust to take care of Lady (sometimes more than myself) and I never need to worry about her (especially with the countless pictures I receive throughout her stay). Lindsay is knowledgeable and extremely loving towards all of her furry guests, Lady is even known to get a marrow bone on certain occasions. I am so thankful I found Lindsay and Lady will be a client of hers for years and years to come!

We were in town for the weekend — excited that the hotel allowed us to bring Barney — but were worried about what to do with him while we went to a the concert. Unilocal found us The Hydrant! Barney, our little special needs 11 year old Yorkie, had a GREAT time with Lindsay and Logan! Lindsay was great making us comfortable before we even got Barney there. Once there, Barney was right at home, following here around everywhere :) The Hydrant was a great find! We can’t wait to visit TO again, and Barney can’t wait to visit They Hydrant again… and to get his ties :)

The Hydrant really is where dogs want to be. In fact, its kinda where I wanna be too! It’s super convenient for us living downtown and the price is standard. Lindsay cares for her clients like none other. I don’t have to worry about our little guy when he’s with her. She’s warm, caring, and professional. Our dog, Mort, has a couple health issues. Lindsay takes note and always asks how he’s doing. Mort loves Lindsay!

Lindsay is my lifesaver!
I am so relaxed knowing she is looking after my little guy while I’m at work. They go for epic long walks together, and he always comes home pooped. My dog is what you could call «a challenge», and is very wary of new people, so I was blown away by how amazing she was with him from their very first meeting. She has since become Timmy’s favourite person outside of our family and one or two friends. He is delighted to see her when we run into her around town.
Lindsay has also made sure that Tim always looks fresh to death by outfitting him in the latest trends for dogs such as bow ties, kickin’ printed collars and leashes. He has become a bit of a pup about town since he’s been in her care.
Would definitely recommend for walks, boarding, training advice — and of course the latest fashions for dogs!

I wanted to write a little review about the collars from the Hydrant. First off the fabrics to choose from are fun and unique. I love how durable they are you can even wash them when they get dirty. I like the wider collars and they look great on my boston and bulldog. I’m not big on the rhinestones and flowers and these are exactly what I was looking for.
Reasonable pricing and fast shipping too!
