The Haunted Walk of Toronto

This was a fun mix of history with some ghost stories thrown in. I was more interested in the history of Toronto (I forgot about the hangings that were common!). I took the Original Haunted Walk of Toronto which started at the Hockey Hall of Fame and ended at the Mackenzie house. We took the tour in October, so we got to go inside the Mackenzie house and do a little scavenger hunt and speak with the volunteers who run the house. (One gentleman was a fantastic fountain of knowledge about the house and its history.)
The gentleman who was our tour guide was very friendly and was good at his story telling, if a little stiff in his delivery. It was distracting from the experience, but not so much that I didn’t enjoy the information and stories.
I haven’t tried their Ghosts and Spirits of the Distillery tour yet, but would like to try it at some point.

This was a blast! Our tour guide, Nate was friendly, upbeat and over fun. It was neat learning about the area and the local ghost. This was perfect for Halloween and honestly anytime of the year. I was expecting the most terrifying stories but honestly really enjoyed them but most of all liked how history was weaved into the tales. The walk was perfect for a cool night in Toronto and didn’t seem like a long walk but really nice. Check it out, it’s a good time!

Katie was great stuff, and had awesome delivery — but after the second story I was ready to go. It wasn’t that expensive, but at $ 40 for two people you feel kind of obligated to at least walk along. I read that an app does the same thing in the newspaper on the weekend, so I might give that a shot next time, but Toronto really just doesn’t have much of a haunted past.
Fun fact: Nice Canadian ghosts do stuff like tuck you into your hospital bed instead of chase you around spooking you.

Had high expectations for a fun night out with some friends. It’s. 90 minute walking tour filled with ghost stories. It’s $ 20 /​person for the tour so I expected it to be decent. The tour guide was very theatrical and carried around a led lantern everywhere we went. The first story was odd and I kept waiting for the good part. It seemed more historical if nothing else. The second story was just as confusing and jumped al over the place. By the 3^rd story I was ready to leave. The stories were not scary, at all. It felt more like something you would hear from a friend and not a well put together tour. We left after the 3^rd stop because we were incredibly bored and the stories very uninteresting. I think it’s more intended for a group of school children instead of 30 adults.

This was a fun night! Our guide, Katie, was very theatrical and entertaining! The stories were good (not overly scary– our 10 and 12 year old daughters were with us and they enjoyed it immensely). We went on three walking tours while in Toronto and this was our favorite! I would recommend this tour if you are looking for something fun to do at night.

It’s a humid Monday evening and yet there are a surprising amount of people waiting for this tour to start. So 2 separate groups were led. Our tour guide was nice, but had a lisp which made certain stories less scary, I really wanted a bearded man with an odd scar or eye patch or an old maid who looked war weary. Maybe I’m expecting too much. Anyway, we only walk within a 4 block radius which was a little disappointing but hey, there are plenty of historic buildings around the king/​yonge area. He led us to various old buildings to tell us their harrowing tales which he did with great vigour and enthusiasm so — points to him on that. But I wanted it to be scarier. I guess Canada is just too young of a country for something truly gruesome to have happened… Except the genocide of a whole people. But no one ever wants to mention that even though those stories are truly terrifying.
Over all I give it a ³⁄₅. It was a fun hour and a half walk and you learn some interesting history.

Ghosts and Spirits of Old Town:
Don’t get me wrong, our guide Claire was terrific and she did her best to make things interesting and scary. Not to mention the staff within the office was very pleasant and nice. The haunted walk on the other hand could’ve been way better. Things started going downhill during the first 5 minutes of tour when 3 or more of our party suddenly left (probably out of boredom and disappointment). The atmosphere in the distillery area did not fit the tour’s intention of being scary at all. Instead the area was an active night life with numerous tourists and locals wandering about. It didn’t help either when most of them would interrupt our guide to ask questions as to where a certain place is located. Not to mention the places we visited around the distillery we couldn’t even go in because it was an establishment /​business that was already closed for the night. All we did was stand outside of the door in the cold while our guide elaborated on the «scary» things that occurred here. After we left the distillery area it turned into a «walk around the blocks» where it felt more like a history tour than a ghost tour. At the end of the walk we came back into the distillery and finished the night with one more «ghost story» that didn’t even correspond with the landmark that we were standing at. My advice to anyone reading this review, skip this haunted walk and save your money! Your better off doing what the other tourists and locals do in this area… that is dining.

Took the tour starting at the Hockey Hall of Fame right before Halloween — it was a great time! I’m from Toronto, but got to learn a lot of cool historical tidbits about my city that I’d never heard before. Our tour guide was Holly, and she was a great storyteller. Definitely an enjoyable and interesting way to spend an evening!

This was an amazing tour to wrap up my week-​long stay here in Toronto. I took the traditional tour earlier tonight and it definitely exceeded my expectations! It was our tour guide’s last night working the tour, but she did an absolutely fantastic job, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We started at the Hockey Hall of Fame (which has its own haunted history) and continued to destinations such as the Mackenzie House and Old City Hall, the tour only getting better and better along the way! The one thing that they could do better is to time the «Ghosts and Spirits of Old Town» tour (the one I wasn’t able to take) a half hour earlier so that one could take both tours back-​to-​back. Other than that though, I highly recommend this tour for anybody interested in history, the paranormal, or both!

It’s new so I have to cut them some slack. Walking tour (or Segway tour) of the Distillery district and old Toronto. It’s supposed to be a scary tour of Ghostly haunted places in old Toronto, but sorry guys, it played more like a sorta boring history lesson to me. To be fair, I think this is their first month, so with a few tweaks it could be much better. Some of the history was fascinating, but almost 2 hours of walking then ending up 20 – 30 minutes from the start just didn’t work that well for me. My tips for making this better… make the route a bit shorter, more circuitous, and make it a little more sensational and exciting and a little less like history class. I believe this tour has potential and will develop, but as of May ²⁵⁄₁₂ it was kinda dull.
