This beer store used to be the best, but now the walk-in cooler doesn’t even keep the beer cold. If you love warm beer this is the place to go. They also are always running out of the better European beer that is on sale, and I imagine they do this on purpose because they manage to restock just in time for the price raise. Also, the Lowenbrau they sell is made by Labatts instead of being brewed in germany and following the purity laws. If the ingredients aren’t listed on the can then who knows what the hell they add to speed up the brewing process. Customer service is great tho, its a management or corporate issue.

Am I actually reviewing a Beer Store? Yes, yes I am… But for good reason as this is the best Beer Store location I’ve found in Toronto! I really like the ability to walk around and choose my own beer rather than walking up to a cashier and ordering the beer from a wall of pictures. It provides a more satisfying shopping experience because you can browse, mix and match, compare options and prices, etc… This is why I’d usually go to a LCBO to pick up a variety of 500ml imported tall boys when wanting to bring some beers home, but this Beer Store location has the walk-in cooler so that you get that same experience, but with your beer being closer to a drinkable temperature when you get in the door. I’ve always been impressed with the selections, including even a slew of coolers and sangrias for the non beer drinking types. The staff are all pretty friendly, and there is hardly ever anyone canvassing for change out front of the store, so yeah in comparison to every other beer store which would be a standard 3 star operation, this place is pretty great and easily worth the 4th star.

This will be my new Beer Store as it’s ten minutes from my new apartment. Though it’s part of the Dufferin Mall it’s not connected and sort of tucked away in a nice little corner near Bloor and Brock. What I like most about this location is the walk-in refrigerator! When I first came here I didn’t see any signs for stock and prices, and then I saw someone walk in what looked like the gates to Beer Heaven. It was so nice to walk in and see hundreds of cold beverages to select on my own… Which is awesome because sometimes you have to see something when you’re making a decision. I was able to browse the single tall cans and pick and choose like I would at the LCBO. I can only imagine how amazing it would be to hit this Beer Store walk-in fridge on a hot summer’s day. I might have to get a little portable BBQ and camp out there.

Brought back some empties today and forgot that there was a broken bottle(in a bag at least) in one of the boxes. Tall lanky dude taking the empties was thankfully wearing gloves. First he was rude*, and I was petrified. Kept thinking how I coulda left sharp stabby things inside. Then I apologized, dude laughed it off, and I think we’re all good. Seriously, I’m soooo glad he was wearing gloves. Damn that was a stupid move on my part! Sorry dude! *(something along the lines of «oh ya, cuz I really wanted to cut my hands open buddy»… totally not what he said, but the gist is there. I felt terrible.)
