I walked in curious to try something new. I was looking to spend $ 30 on a green tea. I’ve bought quality teas from Taiwan so I wasn’t completely clueless. The sales lady let me sample a few and I settled on one green tea. She started pouring the loose leaf in a bag and said«you want a bag, right?» She rung it up and it was over $ 100! Who in their right mind would walk into a mall tea shop and expect to pay $ 100? At this point, I was in shock and wanted to just walk out. I should have. Instead, I asked her to give me half the bag. I guess it was guilt that she already poured the bag. Regardless, I felt they were pushy and the prices absurd. I will never set foot in a Teavana shop ever again.

Honesly, this is my favorite store. About a year ago I was walking through the mall and tried a sample and ever since then, I’ve been a regular customer. I go there almost daily because of how awesome the staff is. I live very close to Yorkdale and I’ve always been a tea fanatic so it’s perfect for me. The teas are always really high quality, and I’ve liked almost every tea I’ve tried and the one time that I tried a tea I didn’t like, the girl working there was more than happy to take back my tea and steep me a fresh cup of one I would like better at no cost. Almost everyone working there knows me on a first name basis and knows the tea I love to order daily. None of the people there are pushy when it comes to sales and they are always very helpful and genuine. I prefer Teavana to David’s Tea 100%, because David’s Tea(at least at the Yorkdale location) doesn’t have the amazing customer service Teavana does. Everyone who works here is friendly and helpful and I cannot emphasize enough how great they are to their customers. When it comes to the teas, I am very happy with the quality of the product. Before Teavana I had never tried loose leaf tea — I had always drank Tetley’s Orange Pekoe. Now I’ve tried nearly every tea in the store and I love trying different blends of the teas. Every time I have trouble steeping a tea at home, I call the store and they are more than happy to walk me through it and give me advice on how to make the perfect cup. If you’re looking to try loose leaf teas, I definitely recommend this Teavana location. The tea is amazing as is the customer service!

Bought tea based on what I sampled in store. At home, followed the instructions on the label but it doesn’t taste as flavorful as in store. Shocked when the bill rang up to $ 50. They will push you to buy more.

I LOVE Teavana’s Maharaj Chai Oolong! They give out free samples by the entrance, so everyone must try it! Every time I shop at Yorkdale, Teavana is a must-stop shop to get my fix of Chai. The service is always friendly and every staff has radiant smiles on that would brighten up your day! They use rock sugar to sweeten the teas, which are sold separately. I know I’d be too lazy to mix my own tea in the morning, so every visit to Teavana is a treat for myself. They have different categories of tea — from premium to rare, which includes«monkey picked» tea leaves which is very interesting. The names of the types of tea isn’t as outrageous as David’s Tea(ie. Chocolate Cheescake?!) and they attract a slightly older crowd. During my last visit, a very nice staff member gave me my tea for free. I was confused at first, but she winked and said«don’t worry about it». A+ for service!

Never again. I went in to Teavana because I was coming out of Second Cup at Yorkdale mall and I was curious. I tried a great free sample and then they mention that it is a mix of three separate items at the store… okay, that’s fine, it’s like an outfit. BUT from the time I smell the teas to the time I leave, there is a constant attempt to upsell. The little bags for tea are no good they tell me, they only keep the tea for 5 days – it’s not like that at David’s teas, so I should have the tin. I say, fine, I’ll take the tin. The salesperson said oh, this lid is not good for citrus, the bigger tin is better because citrus expands. I say, no the amount of tea I have is fine and if it expands it should be fine. She says that I can come back to refill it later. I say that’s not gonna happen for me. And then when I pay, she makes like I’m a cheapskate when I’m pissed because she keeps trying to upsell and says condescendingly, «sugar isn’t as expensive as tea is it?» when she’s ringing up my rock sugar sale. I tell her I know sugar doesn’t usually cost more than tea, that I usually go to David’s tea and say can I have the sugar in the bag please. So when I leave my bill is about $ 40 for 50 g each of two kinds of tea and about 100g of rock sugar BUT honestly, it’s not about the bill. I have paid for more than that for good tea at other places. It’s the service and the tone of voice when people are talking to you. I don’t know why I didn’t walk off and not pay; I think I was just completely stunned. It doesn’t matter how good the tea is. I am never going back. And next time I will stick to David’s tea where they don’t act like snake oil salesmen, they don’t condescend and they provide a relaxing atmosphere.
