Sheraton Gateway Hotel in Toronto International Airport

Toronto Pearson Airport is literally surrounded with hotels, but only one is located within the actual airport itself! If you’re flying to/​from Toronto and don’t want to to deal with the hassle of taxis, finding your way around an unfamiliar city, or have to leave for an early morning/​late night flight, the Sheraton is located right inside Terminal 3.
Driving to the hotel was a bit of a mission — the roads leading up/​around the airport are a nightmare so it took us 4 laps around the airport before we found the hotel. You have to drive through the parking lot to the top floor in order to get to the hotel entrance. Parking is $ 30 a night, but there’s a value parking lot just a short distance away. Access to Terminal 1 is also super easy, as the hotel is connected to the terminal link monorail train.
The reception was absolutely lovely. I’m part of the Starwood Preferred Guest program because I travel quite often, and was upgraded to the Prime Minister Suite! This is more of a business executive type of room I’m guessing, so it’s great if you’re on a business trip or need a conference area. The bedroom has a king sized bed, a bose sound system, a large dresser, a desk and a large flat screen TV!
The room itself is on a private floor and has a lounge area with buffet — the food is great and there is always a supervising attendant. There’s a Sheraton Club lounge located by the elevators. Sheraton Club hosts hors d’oeuvres until about 8:30PM, so we popped by for a light evening snack.
In case you’re wondering about the noise — the hotel is located at the airport, so that means non-​stop airplanes overhead right? This was a concern of mine until I learned that the windows are double paned so you don’t hear anything!
Overall, I had a lovely experience at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel! I highly recommend it if you need a place to stay while traveling in/​out of Toronto Pearson Airport. The staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and spacious, and the location is super convenient! An all around winner, methinks.

As a hotel attached to an international airport you should review your policies. I flew in on a red eye and wanted to land, book a room and get some rest from my jet lag. Your front desk agent told told me he could not check anyone in at 6am so I had to come back at 9am. Terrible service for business travelers

No free wifi! Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable, and corridors are quiet. Couldn’t believe they charge for wifi on top of the fee you’re already paying to stay at a Sheraton!

Not my favorite place but okay. A little dated and the parking situation sucks because it’s right at the airport. You have drive to the top floor (5^th) of the parking lot to park at the hotel. The gym is okay and the SPG lounge is actually pretty good — the selection of breakfast and happy hour items was definitely more than I’ve seen at most sheratons.

The times I did stay at this hotel, I was actually stuck in Toronto on way to wherever else. And that seems to happen quite often. This hotel is literally right outside Terminal 3. Anyways, this is a great hotel for those frustrating moments. The staff was always friendly, patient and helpful in any way they can. The hotel is kept quite clean and nice but the staff definitely makes this place a wonder to stay at. I’m sure it’s because they’ve dealt with many, MANY stranded travelers! The hotel bar’s last call is at 1am… and that was very important when I couldn’t find a soul inside the airport to answer my questions! If you are ever stranded in Toronto airport (not that I would wish that onto anyone!), just head here. You will feel relieved that someone cares!

Stayed here many times. Rooms are very nice and quiet. Well kept and of course close to the Airport as you are in it pretty much. Good lounge in Lobby and a restaurant. You can literally walk out the door and catch the Shuttle train free to go to your appropriate Terminal. Unless your flight is at Terminal 3, then you are already there.

Three stars for the hotel room quality, four stars for the check-​in staff, one star for the food quality, point five for the food service. (Reverse those last two if you wish.)
An okay place to stay, just don’t get stuck eating here. You are better off going to Wendy’s in Terminal three than subjecting yourself to the dubious food, indifferent service and ridiculous prices of the Gateway restaurants.
I ate two poor to mediocre dinners here, both with tabs in excess of $ 50 including tax and tip. Gluey soup, microwaved bread, pizza crust reminiscent of cardboard. (Worse than the frozen pizzas you buy for your five-​year old.) The spicy pretzel mix at the bar was the culinary highlight of my visit.

Check-​in was seamless for our 1 night stay. Which technically was 7 hours since we were catching a connecting flight early the next morning. Staff at front desk was friendly. Our room was clean and average size. Nothing that makes you say «wow» As a Starwood member, I would expect an upgrade but since it was such a short stay, no big deal. Would have been nice, but hey it didn’t happen.
I like the convenience of staying here, since it’s located in the airport and no need to go outside. Grab your bags and go over the pedway/​walkway to the hotel and vice versa back to the airport.
The problem I have with some hotels, is ones that charge for Internet/​wifi. This isn’t 2007 anymore Sheraton. Get with the times. When we finally arrived to our room, I was not able to get Internet on my laptop or IPad? After a call to the front desk, found out I could pay for it for $ 20? For a person who needs to access her emails and respond to somethings for maybe an hour max, this isn’t something I was willing to pay for. Sadly, I had to go down to the lobby and work from there since Wifi is free in the lobby as well as the airport. Not ideal when you just travelled for 6+ hours and its almost midnight.Fail.
Checkout wasn’t ideal. As I mentioned, we were at the hotel for less than 7 hours before catching our early morning flight. When arriving to check out, only two people were in line. Since its check out it should be a fairly quick and seamless process… right? Not so much! Only one person was working at the desk and it was obvious, she had no idea what she was doing. When we finally had our turn, she printed off our stay/​bill. I noticed two charges on there, that shouldn’t have been. Our bill should only be our 1 night hotel stay, nothing else. Which I told her. She advised me there was two charges from the restaurant for lunch and dinner? Advised her that was not possible since we arrived after 11:00pm and were not even in Toronto for lunch or dinner? She obviously didn’t believe me and thought I was pulling a fast one on her? No idea, but I was not impressed. Told Her I would not be paying those and to only charge my credit card for our stay. After all it’s 6:00am and I am in no mood to get into an argument this early before my next flight. That didn’t sit well with her and after some debate, I told her to look at our file since she should know what time we checked in at? «If we checked in that late, well it’s well after lunch and dinner time». Yes, stating the obvious and trying to be a problem solver. Someone needs to be.
Long story short, paid for our stay and she would investigate the other charges. No apology or friendliness on her part. It’s obvious it’s Sheraton’s error. She stated she would charge the credit card for our stay and if the food charges were really not ours, it wouldn’t be charged to the credit card. I was firm and told her, it better not be since we were not even at the hotel when these charges transpired or even in Toronto? We have been back home for two weeks and no other charges showed up on my credit card so I will assume they figured it all out? No idea. Was not overly impressed with this or the Internet situation. Next time we will stay at another hotel at YYZ airport.

Here to assist in the executive meetings for my company, and I have to say the Service staff here has been great. They are professional, timely, and friendly. They follow the instructions that we have given them and they have been very helpful whenever we needed something. GREAT SERVICE.

I am a platinum guest with Starwood hotels. Love the brand and for the most part love the service offered by all Sheraton hotels.
I have stayed at this hotel many times and they have virtually zero platinum recognition. It all starts upon check-​in where the spg preferred guests are ignored and preference is given to flight crews and other guests from the regular line-​up.
My most recent visit I actually called ahead to tell them I was arriving at 6AM and would only be staying for 3 hours to catch up on sleep — I paid for the full night. Not only was I not given an upgrade I was put on the louder side of the hotel. Furthermore they were cleaning the room across the hall from me at 6AM! Seriously who cleans a room at 6AM? The hotel that is trying to double sell a room to airline crews does that! No worries that the noise will be inconveniencing guests at that hour.
Upon leaving today I am carrying 2 coffees and my bags out the front door and was having difficulties with the door and the door man stood and watched while he chatted on the phone. My colleague who was picking me up saw this from his car and noted he had been on his phone for over 15 minutes.
I will give the morning staff in the club lounge credit. They are over the top friendly and offer fantastic service! Take note of this as this should be the standard for the entire hotel!
I have complained to the hotel management on numerous occasions and apparently it is falling on deaf ears as nothing ever improves. If anything it gets worse!
Unfortunately there are no other choices attached to the airport otherwise I would have switched long ago!

This hotel is handy if you have an overnight connection… certainly beats the Toronto traffic!
That said, the amenities were generally poor, though that isn’t entirely the hotel’s fault — aside from the hotel lounge, there were few choices for dinner, etc.
This is probably the best feature of YYZ, but that’s not saying much…
It most certainly was not on-​par with a Renaissance (YEG) hotel nor a Fairmont (YVR).

I had a 13 hour layover in Toronto, so I stopped in for a massage. I decided to go with the sports massage as the description sounded more to my liking. I think that was a mistake, as it was more expensive than other options (125 Canadian plus tax for 60 min). This was more of a rub down than a massage, and it was extremely disappointing, especially considering the price. While I really enjoy a good massage, this was simply an expensive time waste.
I don’t know if it was just that massage therapist, or the whole spa, but I would not recommend their services.

Very nice place to stop in if going to Terminal 3. This hotel serves multpile purposes.
In one case, its a hotel. As in, you need a place to rest your head for the night. As far as that goes, its a fine hotel, and if you are on the club level its a nice little bonus. Nice lounge, edible food, nice drinks, really cant loose for a hotel club level lounge.
It is also a great place to park and walk through if you are picking someone up from Pearson. You can park at the hotel (there is a fee), and walk through to find your person, the arrivals are near the hotel, and then go back out through the hotel. You can do the same by parking at the airport, however, this is very easy and it may be faster in the long run as well.
If you have to wait, there are nice restaurants and a bar in the hotel itself.
The third nice thing is they have a deal, if you spend a night here you can leave your car for a reduced rate for a week or more if travelling overseas. This is terrific. You can of course stay here on the way back as well. Your car will be here, covered parking if you want and its all just easy.
3 stars because it is a hotel at the end, comfortable, nice beds, fine rooms, easy parking, reasonbale food. The 4^th for the ease of the airport as a result of the hotels location. But if the hotel were just «another hotel» near the airport, it would be three stars. Its the parking, the airport access from the hotel that give it the extra «umph».

PRO: it’s located attached to the airport
CON: Rooms are dated and old. Carpet is loose and ragged. Shower is fitted with old, 1970 ‘s faucet and head with very little consistency in water temp during the shower. A/​C (loud) would run for 30 – 45 seconds and cuts off for about 2 minutes and then back on for 30 – 45 seconds… All night in this loop. The whole time it was hot in the room. Sheets are marked up with a Sharpie noting «King» and other notations that I guess make it helpful for the cleaning logistics. Hair in sink.
Overall, just seemed like a Days Inn with a fancy lobby. I’d opt for a close hotel in the future. The benefit of staying so close doesn’t out way the issues with this tired property.

Look… its an airport hotel… so take it for what its worth.
The rooms are large and clean, bathrooms are small and tired. Nice big flat-​screen tvs but the system sucks… its a cheap cable system with a limited and pretty lousy choice of channels… you are never sure what program you are watching because there is no program title/​info, its sort of like being back in the 1990’s.over half the channels are unwatchable due to out of focus, snow… this has been a continous problem for all the years I’ve stayed here during my travels. The food is fine, not 5-​star but more than adequate. Lobby bar is your typical airport hotel bar… but a very good variety and choice of booze.
Its attached to the airport so its biggest plus is the convenience between flights, especially for those really late arriveing or really early departing flights.

Nice hotel in a very convenient location. My flight got cancelled, so I walked over to this hotel. The gym is very nice, compared to most other hotels. They have a lot of equipment and it’s well maintained.

First of all, this is NOT a 4 or 5 star hotel as it is ranked on many travel booking sites. The rooms are nice, a little tired as some other reviewers have noticed. Fine for a 3 star but if you are really expecting more than that you will be disappointed.
Pros:
*Easy to access location
*Friendly staff
* Decent sized rooms
*Clean rooms
*quiet rooms-​easy to forget you were at the airport.
*Onsite store-​pricey but good if you are snacky
Cons:
*Parking is very expensive so if you aren’t travelling on business (ie can’t expense it) and have a car, reconsider.
*They overcharge on room service. Yes, I get room service costs more but they add two separate fees not including taxes on top of the already grossly inflated food prices
*Want internet? It is free 50 ft across the road at the terminal but they’ll charge $ 20 a day for it here. It isn’t 2005 anymore Sheraton. stop charging for internet access.
I might consider staying here on business if it suited my plans. But if I am footing the bill I’d rather go to a nicer hotel that includes a little more with its rates.

The Toronto Pearson International Airport, Terminal 3, has this Sheraton hotel literally connected to the terminal. So, if you don’t need to travel into the city for any reason and convince your meeting host just to utilize a conference room here, then you are in luck. You could literally just wander around in your pajamas if you wished.
Now, the downfalls are exactly the same as the positives in that you are nowhere near the city itself (relatively speaking, i.e., you cannot from your hotel out onto the streets of the city and explore). As a result, you are confided to room service, the hotel restaurant, or starvation (or I suppose airport food)… and then there is always taking a taxi into the city — which sort of defeats the purpose of staying here, I think.
The hotel is very clean, the rooms are spacious and acceptably maintained, and you are not going to come away with «the pox» or any other malady from staying here. You are also very safe and secure. Additionally, since this is probably a concern, the rooms are amazingly soundproof. You will absolutely not hear the planes coming and going around you — which is pretty phenomenal.
Anyhow, you might as well give the joint a whirl. In the end, it’s a Sheraton (not a W, not the Ritz, etc.) so 3-​stars seems fair.

I had a late night flight into TO so I called both Sheraton’s to see how much a room cost. They were very similar in prices so I decided to stay at the one that I could stay indoors in the whole time. There is a connection from Pearson terminal to this Sheraton so I came over here. When I arrived I got quoted a different price but they were «willing» to give me another room at a discount slightly above the original price they mentioned but had to go through a cleaning because someone had smoked in it.
Thanks to the jerk-​ass on the phone for not telling me this when I called. I would have went to the other Sheraton. I was exhausted so I stayed but the room stunk of smoke. The room was very large and like most Sheraton’s you never feel like you get your money’s worth for the stay.

If you find yourself walking around in your PJs outside your hotel and you’re in terminal 3 of a major airport, then you must be in in Toronto at the Sheraton.
Super convenient if the plan is to have local sales force pick the geeky marketing guy from the airport for customer visits. If you don’t need a car for the night, staying here would be Option A. Where else can you fling open your window curtains and watch a few Boeings and Air Busses drift by?
The staff is super nice (except when you talk about the Leafs and the Sharks) and the lobby is nice during check in. Whether you’re going back into the clouds or you’ll talk about cloud computing the next day, this hotel offer lots of transportation options and the rooms are fine for a biz trip.
Whether you’re the type that wears pink PJs with little hearts or the type that sport fluffy bunny slippers or you’re like me, sleep commando when you go to bed, remember to not thoughtlessly rush out of your hotel to buy something out of drugstore— you will have terminal 3 as an audience.
