Prices are inflated like any convenience store, but really only slightly. If you stick with produce that is in season, you’ll be in good shape. They also stock a surprising amount of organic and gluten free products as well as things like goat yogurt and kefir. They also have a catch-all section that I’ve yet to come up short in for things like string, safety pins, toothpicks, a pencil case… I usually come in the mornings and have not experienced rudeness of any kind, quite the opposite. There is a lovely lady who stocks the produce area in the morning who would routinely stop what she was doing to come help me find the fullest, freshest pint of strawberries, or hand me the ripest mangos. A perfectly reasonable option for folks working or living in the hood with the same pricing as the Starbank across the street, but ten times the variety.

Pari is hard to peg. Is it a variety store? Sure — they sell smokes, pepperettes, TTC tickets, Lotto, and assorted salty and sweet snacks, so yes it looks the part. Is it a grocery store? They have a reasonably good produce section and also lots of staples. They even have bulk baking items and more specialty things such as coconut milk that you wouldn’t find at the average convenience store. And the prices are pretty reasonable.
