Great coffee, espresso and espresso based drinks. Yummy baked goods. We also like to promote local Artists and have a great rotation of Toronto artists work in the shop.
My work recently changed locations which gives me the opportunity to check out some new coffee places! This one had great reviews and is fairly close so I had to check it out. It is located right across from OCAD, which should give you an idea of the look of the shop and street(think artsy hipster). If you’re looking for a fancy shop this is not the place, this is the hole in the wall, small and unpretentious kind of place I love. It was a little too hot in there when I went, maybe something was wrong with their heat. The staff was nice enough, did not really pay attention to me more than required as their friend was in there(this really doesn’t bother me). I ordered a Flat White based on another reviewer here. The price was average, the size is fairly small. The drink was exceptionally smooth and delicious just as previously read. They have brown sugar and real spoons(avoid waste, yay!) Overall I quite liked this place and I can see myself adding them in my coffee rotation.

What an adorable little place! I’m not gonna lie, I usually hit up a particular huge corporate coffee shop when I want my decaf soy/almond/coconut milk latte with hazelnut– but I was lucky enough to find this great little place on my way to meet friends. The latte was magic– I’ve never had almond milk so well done in a latte before! And the best part was, the server freshly ground the decaf espresso before he pressed it. Usually servers at other places will grab a container of pre-ground, old and stale, decaf beans. I also appreciate that there were also gluten free brownies, even though I didn’t grab one.

Visiting from the land of independent coffee shops, I was desperately searching for great coffee, in a place with character. On my 4th try, found this gem. Great coffee, cool artwork, friendly, perhaps slightly hipster staff. Everything I could want in a coffee shop.

Another victory for the Hole in the Wall Gang! Great food comes in small storefronts! I was especially pleased to see a place that offers a perfect Australian-style flat white. I had two of them in a row, they were so good. The seating is tight but comfortable enough, given that it’s an arts crowd here, partly from the artist co-op next-door, and partly from the AGO and art school up the street. There are nice exhibits of interesting art, though the display they had the night I was there wasn’t to my taste — crayon drawings that were a bit unpleasant to stare at while nursing a flat white. But the idea of real neighborhood experimental art on display is a real nice addition to a coffee house’s social function. I believe they get their coffee from Social Coffee company, but it would be a nice extra if they featured fair and direct trade in coffee cacao and snacks — would boost my mark right up to the top.
