A cultural adventure in Tehranto. This place specializes in all things pomegranate. An attempt to make a Persian dessert spot, a hot spot. Although the pictures of a woman passionately eating the pomegranates will strike you as awkward, the place will quickly grow on you with its red and white sleek décor. A great place for Iranians to bring their friends to have a taste of our obsession with the pomegranate and all things sour, and also for the culturally adventurous.
You must order «the works» to get the full experience – pomegranate slushy, topped with pomegranate ice cream, pomegranate jello, pomegranate paste, and «lavashak» (like a pomegranate fruit roll up.) It is to die for!
What really impressed me was the server. She was running the place solo when we got there late on a Saturday night. When she overheard us saying that the pomegranate was sour (that’s part of the challenge), she brought us a tray of dates to sweeten our palate. When she noticed us curiously eyeing what the other table was ordering (a fava bean snack) she brought some for our table too. All unasked, and all complimentary. Wow.
This is their second location, the original being in Thornhill. This place is the swanky version and has proper seating, so definitely the better choice.
