Will probably never go here again unless I have to. Went on a Saturday night around 11:30. Cover was twenty dollars and it didn’t seem like much was going on inside. They gave us a discount but not after making some rude remark like ‘well sweetie you aren’t going to get in anywhere else for 20 bucks’. The coat check was unavailable and they told us to throw our coats somewhere. I usually bring my ten dollar discount coat out on nights like these but I figured if I was going to pay twenty dollars for cover that this would be a place with a decent coat check and I could rock my favourite more expensive jacket. No coat check = holding onto coat the entire night. The music and DJ were the best part. A lot of fun and a lot of mashups I haven’t heard before. Drinks were expensive. Eight dollars for shots and six dollars for a domestic Coors light. My friend ordered a Budweiser and we all had to taste it because it tasted like WATER. The bartender did open the bottle in front of us so there was no way it was watered down…(I don’t think?). He was super nice and tried it himself to confirm water-ness and gave my friend a new one right away. Arguable, this bar is not my scene but even so, my friends who are fans of similar places, said they would not go back here.

This place is huge, Mansion is definitely an appropriate name for this place, 4 floors of fun and partying. All four floors have different designs, DJs and atmospheres. I will say the best of these fours is the top floor. The top floor is basically a patio with a what I believe is a retractable roof. You can go up there dance, get drinks and be under the stars which is awesome on a nice night. Another cool thing about this club is they have a TV that has a countdown to when last call so you’re sure to know when to get in that last drink. Drinks were decently priced, about what you would expect from a club in a major city. Another great concept that I think needs to be adopted more places is this place has coed bathrooms. Mansion realizes this is 2012 and women and men can go to the same bathroom and not have to worry about people being pervy. I applaud Mansion for being so modern. This is a cool club in Toronto to go out, have a good time and just get into the groove. Worth a visit.

Disclaimer: I’m not a huge clubber these days. Prefer places I can converse with people. On that note, I’d say the mansion was an ‘ok’ club. I was here for a work party, so didn’t have to pay cover. The line itself was short, maybe 10 people long on a Saturday night at around 11pm. We got inside, it was packed! Made it over to the back bar and had a few G+Ts. They didnt put a lemon/lime in any of my drinks, slight annoyance. But there was a tray of slices on the bar, so I just grabbed them. Mixed drinks were ~$ 7. The music was top 40. It was good tunes, but the mixing was TERRIBLE. They would play a song for ~2min, then suddenly change it. So its like you in mid-dance, then all of a sudden the beat changes and you feel out of step :). The dance floor was good size, and not crazy crowded. There was a stage in the middle, which was well used! People were so funny, guys and gals dancing all over that stage. The bathrooms were nice. I am always grateful for a clean bathroom at a club. There must of been air-conditioning, as I didn’t feel too sweaty inside an otherwise packed space. Overall a fun night. Minus the riot police outside at the end of it(not sure what happened, my inattention the direct result of too many G+Ts). If you like to dance and dress up, go here. You’ll for sure have a good night :)

I’ve been to Mansion twice and after the first time I decided not to go again. However, my friend’s birthday was held here so it looked like I would have to go again. This was actually last year but I still remember those two nights very clearly. I’ve been there only on Saturday’s so I won’t be able to give you an idea of what Friday’s crowd is like. If you are a lady and are signed up on guest list for Saturday, you’ll get in free before 11 pm and line by pass. For the guys, the cover is only $ 10 before 11 pm, which is pretty cheap. There’s always a lineup outside so you think it’s really busy inside but once you step inside, it’s not that busy. The club is actually quite small but has two floors. The main floor is almost the same size as Embassy but a little bit smaller. The interior is decorated quite nicely and is equipped with about 3 bars. Mansion boasts about their«sexiest» unisex washroom. My friends and I were interested in trying out the unisex washroom but apparently there wasn’t one. Tony Monaco from Z103.5 hosts the Saturday night parties… so it must be good, right? Not really. I was expecting a lot of stuff you would hear on Z103.5 but most of the music played were old. I would enjoy Mansion a bit more if the music played were more current and the dance floor to be a bit more filled.

This was one of the more affordable places for bottles we found for a Stagette this weekend. The crowd here is a mix. Mainly groups of people that came to have a good time. It was fairly older(i.e. mid 20s to 30s, I would say) on Saturday night, which was nice as we didn’t feel old. The ladies here can be hit or miss, but it’s not the same crowd you’d find at King West for sure. Bottles was a minimum of 2 @ $ 125 each(min.). With taxes and gratuity it came to $ 300 with 4 comps included. BUT, it is ladies free until 11pm, and $ 10 after = so we all got in free that night. The music is hiphop, dance and top 40. Would have been nice to play longer sets of certain songs, but it will do. It’s also live to air 103.5 on Saturday. Maybe I haven’t been to a club in a while, but I was surprised at the attentiveness /responsibility of the bouncers. I wasn’t feeling well and trying to get some air in the stairwell. He asked how I was doing, then took my hand and led me to an air pocket right beside the doors. It was great — and it’s exactly where I found my friend who he also led there. At some point, I ended up in the bathroom on the verge of the P point. The bass is loud and the air thick, and like any other club, the only haven was the bathroom really. I was leaning around the toilet, but then felt better and stood up. The bouncer from earlier, said that he’d give me a minute, but when I’m done I’ll have to go. I haven’t puked or anything, but since I didn’t feel well I had to go. He was nice about it, but I was also surprised that this was happening. I mean, in my 12 years of clubbing(wow!), for something this small I’ve never had someone tell me to go. Even if I hit the point, i’ll be all better to go again! Note: I was also at the front stall where it was in full view. Anyhow. The night was young when I ended up leaving but on my own right(we convinced him that I“ll just hang out in the booth afterwards).

Side note: this place is 19+ not 18+ but Unilocal only lets you pick 18+ or 21+. How American. Argh ok. I’m sort of on the fence about what to rate this place. I have had two good experiences here now, but that doesn’t mean that I think it’s worth more stars. I do think 2.5÷5 stars is more accurate rating. When I’ve been here, I had fun, but I don’t think it had much to do with the club itself and I honestly don’t think this place has much going for it. Here is why: — Cover is too expensive($ 20 after 11 on a crowded night) unless you arrive early enough that the whole place will still be empty and therefore not much fun. I am willing to pay more for a much nicer club or a better DJ or special event. Guestlist usually doesn’t do anything unless you get there really early, as I have learned the hard way, especially if it is busy. — Drinks were expensive($ 6.25) for how small they are and compared to other places nearby, and the bartenders kept trying to get us to buy a bottle(both times I was there, party of 3 and party of 4) which FYI is not a good deal. Especially if you’re not getting a booth for it! — Big clubs like this tend to not care about people, because they are so big and are well-known so they know they will fill up to sell out every night regardless of how they treat you. This means they don’t do much to help you out, like honouring guest list or line bypass etc. as they know it’s not going to cost them if they lose a few customers. — The bathrooms are co-ed on the main floor. Personally I have no problem with this, but I know tons of other people who might. Plus it makes it easier for people to hook up. sounds like fun no? — The bouncers were really annoying about how we traveled around the place, they would only let us use one specific staircase which made it really crowded there and we had to walk all the way around the place for what seemed like no reason.
