Karma is offering a one month free membership to new patrons! This is exciting as I did not actually realise it was members only until I went to the till :) Great selection of Canadian bulk goods. It’s a place that does as much research as I do into what I buy. So I guess now I don’t have to!

This place had a wide-range of organic and locally-sourced products. As do many other shops in the area. To be honest, though, I am not sure if I am the kind of person who feels strongly enough about co-op shopping to sit through an orientation session just to get my groceries. But if that’s something you’re passionate about, this is your place!

Sweet little Karma co-op is the antidote to Loblaws. A genuine community where members socialize and work in the store, kids can safely roam, the staff are treated(and behave) like actual human beings, the music is eclectic, and the atmosphere is charmingly jumbled. The produce section is lovingly maintained and is the real draw of this store — you won’t find prices this good on organic produce of this quality anywhere else in Toronto. Now, if you’re the type of person that likes to get in and out of the grocery store as efficiently as possible, Karma is not the place for you. Members must either work or pay a surcharge on their purchases, and there are also member fees to pay for building maintenance and expenses like a newsletter and ethical product research. But the bonuses are plenty, not least of which is getting a brief moment in your week to relax and smell the roses.
