I had dinner here the other night. New place, located across the street from the ever present Café Diplomatic. I asked my server how long they have been opened, a mere 3 months. The décor is very chic, black and white with a damask theme. Quite different than the average restaurant you find in little Italy. Everything I ordered was amazing. My main course was gnocchi with a creamy Gorgonzola sauce, so rich and delicious(I’m sure high on the calorie count too but it was worth it). I looked at the dessert menu but didn’t dare order one as I was too full from my appetizer and main. Though I was informed there tiramisu and crème brûlée is made in house. I would have tried one of those if I had had room for dessert. I found the prices to be quite reasonable, my gnocchi was only $ 14.00. Desserts I noticed were all priced at $ 7, which is an okay price for a crème brûlée but a steep price for a sorbet or ice crème. This place is a hidden gem at the moment as it was quite empty for a Thursday night. It a place that should definitely be checked out. It is a place I will be visiting again and recommend visiting.

A friend and I had dinner here last night. Our server was an extremely pleasant woman, who was very welcoming and attentive. A hardworking lady, she seemed to be the only server at the restaurant and did a great job. The kitchen is open, so you can watch the chef, presumably Jerome, in action as you await your meal. At some other restaurants that have open kitchens, I have noticed that the smell of the food gets trapped in my clothes and hair, but not here, and we were sitting right opposite the kitchen. For appetizers, my friend ordered the crab croquettes with chipotle aioli, which she thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered bruschetta with flatbread and it was quite good, as well. Delicious and moist cornbread was served, which were compliments of the chef! For the main course, my friend ordered the sweet potato gnocchi and she couldn’t stop raving about it. I tried it and loved the rich gorgonzola sauce, which was accompanied by yummy bacon. I ordered the chicken tagliatelle and it was just alright. Although I was unable to finish my pasta,(I ended up brown bagging it) I wanted to try the desserts. My friend enjoyed her duo of mango and raspberry sorbets. Unfortunately, the chocolate lava cake that I had was a bit of a disappointment. It was not made in house and it was a little hard, with not much lava and was not warm at all. Prices were definitely reasonable. This would be a good place to bring a date, as the ambience is quite romantic with candles lit, dimmed lights, sparkling chandeliers, and a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service in the heart of Little Italy.
