History

Established in 1991.

Gwendolyne Hats is a unique and creative accessory business located in the heart of downtown Toronto here in Canada. Specializing in hand cut one of kind hats Gwendolyne Preboy and William Brown are true believers in quality and lasting beauty. Together they inspire the world with their creative endeavors. Throughout their lifetime both have been involved in the arts. Their shop is located in Toronto’s award winning warehouse building 401 Richmond located right in the heart of the old fashion district.

Business Owner

Gwendolyne’s first hat was created as a gift for a friend and since that time she has not looked back. Many years later her thriving enterprise that embodies that very same emotion. A magical gift, made by the hand, created for someone to fall in love with, a treasure for years to come.

She trained as a visual artist with an emphasis on color theory and sculpture, worked as a textile designer, traveled the world, became a mother, and has a Bachelor of Science.

The greatest influence on Gwendolyne’s circuitous route to millinery was a teaching post in the arctic. In the north she discovered the beauty of native life and grew to love the handcrafted clothing constructed and decorated by the highly skilled Inuit women.
