Fantastic Old School Service! Hot towel, straight razor, and a head massage — all for a great price.

Great classic hairstyles, with a clean precise cut. The straight blade cleanup is a nice touch, and clearly the barbers here have years(or decades) of experience. Many satisfied and return customers are evident on every trip. It’s a shame they close by 6pm on weeknights though, as the weekends can be quite busy.

Loved this place. I have been looking for a new barber for a while now, and the past few places I’ve been to have been major disappointments, and more expensive too. This place is unpretentious, not looking for a hipster/cool vibe, just great haircuts with friendly guys. They gave me a nice, old fashioned haircut, using a straight edge to clean up the sides and back. Great place. Definitely recommend.

To my utter horror I’m starting to lose my hair. It’s still thick on the back and sides but it’s thinning at the top front; depending on the day and my mood I look in the mirror and see either a(younger, smarter, less beady-eyed) Rob Ford or a(white, blonde, less murderous) Chairman Mao in the making. Obviously, then, having a good barber who can minimize this effect is essential to my self-esteem. That’s where the good folks at Gus the Other Barber come in: anyone who can make me look like I have more hair by taking some of it off is basically my saviour. I don’t think Gus actually works here anymore, but on staff are four or five professional barbers who will chat with you if they sense you’re into that, or drop the small talk if it’s obvious that you’re on the more reticent side like I am. For $ 21 + tip, and with no direction on my part other than«short,» I walk out of there with a great haircut and a neck that’s been cleaned up with a straight razor. These guys take their time and won’t rush through even a simple haircut like mine, but the most I’ve ever had to wait was 20 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. As long as I have hair I’ll be coming back.

After paying $ 60 for my last few haircuts and not really being impressed with the results, I figured its time for a simple cut at a barbershop. For $ 20, I got a very clean & professional cut. He used a straight edge to cleaned up the sides and back, very old school. Recommended.

If you want a hipster haircut, this probably isn’t the place for you, as both the haircuts and the vibe of this place are strictly old-school. If you just want neat, simple cut, with the usual chatter of a barber shop, Gus is perfect. These guys are consummate pros and even if, like me, you have a bit less hair than you might like, you walk out looking much better than when you entered. My favourite thing about this barber is that they stick to the tradition of using a straight-edge razor to make edges and clean up. It might be nostalgic, but I love it. Final thing: Abdul, the new guy, who arrived from Iraq not so long ago, is probably the best person working there. No offence to the old-timers — he just takes a lot of care.

Solid conservative haircut at a fair price. A major step up from the bowl cuts I was getting in Chinatown!
