Dollar & General

Dollar & General (probably an attempt to avoid the protected name of the American chain Dollar General, sans ampersand) is one of my least favorite dollar stores.
First off, almost nothing here is $ 1. Everything is priced individually, most at well more than $ 1.
Second, some of the stuff you buy here is junk. I bought a mop here and a plastic bag holder (similar to the ones you get at Ikea) and both broke almost immediately. How does a mop break? It mildews the first time you use it. The plastic bag holder was defective and would not allow itself to be assembled no matter what I tried. Upon trying to take it back, I was told that it was my fault for failing to put it together correctly. Uh huh.
Third, it’s crowded, disorganized, and dirty. Some of the merchandise has been sitting so long that it has a layer of dust… gross.
OVERALL, this dollar store is a definite miss. Go to Dollarama or one of the chains for a much better shopping experience.
