Uphill Wireless – Downtown

If you’re looking to get a screen replaced, stay away from this place. Quality of replacement parts is extremely poor and prices are relatively high (contrary to what some of the other reviews claim — I honestly question the authenticity of some of the 4 – 5 star reviews…)
I went in to replace a broken iPhone 5s digitizer and ran into a bunch of issues that ultimately left me exactly where I started minus $ 120.
Details:
1. The guy initially tried to sell me a screen that was already cracked at the bottom. When my boyfriend pointed it out he denied it until we took off the screen protector and pointed out the large, obvious crack to him. He then took my phone apart again to put in another screen.
2. When I got home, I noticed that the home button wasn’t screwed in properly so it moved around quite a bit — not a huge deal.
3. What was a huge deal was when I realized some parts of the screen were unresponsive to touch, aka he had replaced my broken digitizer with another (less) broken digitizer. I hadn’t noticed in the store because I had only tested swiping and pressing numbers on the keypad. The issue only became apparent when I tried to use the keyboard and realized some letters didn’t work. FYI: ALWAYS check all the letters/​characters on the keyboard after a screen replacement, that was my mistake.
4. Two weeks later, the digitizer ended up breaking beyond the point of usage when my phone slipped out of my hands and fell on the ground from a seated level… I had been too busy to take the phone in again immediately after I discovered the last issue/​I thought that I could live with not being able to type the letter ‘y’ but evidently the replaced digitizer was not only already slightly broken but also terrible quality. It literally broke after one drop.
Tl;dr: Went in to replace a broken iPhone 5s digitizer and the guy gave me a slightly less broken replacement that ended up completing breaking two weeks later. Price of repair was also high at $ 120. This place is pretty much a scam — DO NOT go for any kind of screen replacement.

I had my battery replaced here.
Issues:
1. Battery they use is refurbished, not brand new.
2. They steal parts from your phone.
More detail:
They replaced my battery twice here, every time the battery continued to have issues. I went to another place to have the battery replaced and the technician here says that many parts were missing in the phone. (Battery cover, home button cover, nuts and bolts inside)
He also says the battery I got was a recharged/​refurbished, not a new one.
Unbelievable how they steal from their customers. So unethical.

I brought my dead nexus 5 here for them to take a look. They opened it up right away and swapped out parts trying to narrow down the problem. He was able to get it up and going once, but not again.
I left it with them for a day and they kept trying to diagnose it. I’m giving a good review because I’m happy they tried and didn’t charge me for the labour they spent on trying to fix it. Also, they were fast.
In the end I sent it back to LG and they ended up replacing most of the phone for a flat rate charge, so it worked out reasonably well.
Also, I note that the operators there use iPhone’s and that seems to be what they prefer to repair (and use).

DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS! Totally defrauded by the good rating on here!!!
Reasons why:
1– Took my phone for screen repair and when I went home some buttons do not function! So I took it back again and I was told they don’t have time. Took it again another time and they refused to fix it! Even though they said there is a «one-​year» warranty, they said they will not fix it and now my phone does not function as it was when it was cracked.
2– The hours of the store is not as mentioned on the website. They are not punctual at all.
3– You can definitely get your phone fixed in Pacific mall for less than half the price these people charge you.
4– They are so rude!
even if you take your device to them to fix, check it completely before you pay since they pretend it is your fault and refuse to fix it right after they get the money.

Don’t know why they bought those positive reviews. My experience with them was bad beyond experience. First of all, this place shares the same store with a cheap perfume store. (Seems like scam?) My old iphone screen was broken and they replaced it for a costly price. I was told I have a warranty, if anything wrong with the screen I can always bring it back. When I found a very obvious dirt inside the screen and went back, he Russian owner told me they can only replace the screen for limited number of times. (Well, you didn’t tell me when I paid at the first place.) After I insisted, the owner brazenly said to my face :“WE NEVER SEE CUSTOMERS LIKE YOU!” And his brother added: «WE ONLY PUT ON THE SCREEN, AND THAT’S IT!». I argued with them and when they couldn’t find any excuse to not do it, they tried to stall. Eventually, they did put on a screen for the last time, and try to let me promise not to go back again. It was still far from satisfaction, but given their service quality, attitude and temper, I had to go to another store and redo everything. That was the time I was told the previous replacement used very low quality screen parts. I was not surprised at all. No wonder there are always dirt in everything screen.
Stay away from this place! That’s my only advice.

This place was great. They were able to fix my phone right away, and it only took about 5 minutes. Then he showed me my phone and tested the functionality and realized the home button was no longer working. Because it was working when I brought it in, he fixed that too at no extra charge.
Very friendly and thorough service. They have a 1 year warranty on the repair, and you can even upgrade the warranty so that if you break your phone again that’s included!
Highly recommend this place. I hope I don’t have to go back, but if I ever break my phone, this is the guy.

Dima (that’s what he wrote down on business card?) otherwise known as dimitriy and Slava are awesome and after placing the future of my phone in their hands umpteen times (+5), I consider them my pals :) They are honest, funny, and helpful with any questions I have about the hardware of my phone and any add-​on accessories that can improve my phone’s performance and convenience. I have done two exchanges seamlessly and am 100% happy with the products and services they provided. I live in North York so for me to travel all the way to them in downtown it means THEY KNOW THEIR stuff and are pretty reliable and do the best to make all their customers happy (and I can be a tough cookie to please at times). I highly recommend their services — especially if you’re in a rush! I take off one star for the two times they didn’t have the stock I was looking for which is understandable for a growing shop. So my advice is just to call ahead and ensure they got what ya need! P. S. («TMI» warning) the brothers are so cute and I quite enjoy teasing them about that :) I can’t help it — Im a natural flirt!

This is going to be a long review because I had the most interesting experience here! To start off I found this place from Unilocal and just needed a place to get my S4 LCD screen replaced and it had good reviews so thought I’d go check it out. I went to the location where Slava was working at and although he was fixing another customer’s phone he quotes me on how much it would cost to replace my screen, it was more than I thought it would be but still affordable and he said it would take about 20mins which was good because I was tight on time. When he got to my phone, I also asked if he can replace my volume button because it was dented. 20mins later he replaced my screen and the volume button and put a new screen protector on my phone, it looked good as new. Slava also said the repair comes with a 1-​year warranty in case anything happens that’s not a physical damage which is assuring to me. I left and few hours later when I tried to charge my phone I realized it wasn’t charging and I started panicking, I went home and tried a different charger and still gives me the message (Charging paused, battery temperature too low). Of course I was worried because I needed my phone for the night. I then called them and ask when they are closing and rushed back to the store just in time before they closed. Slava quickly attempt to fix the charging port of my phone, although he was suppose to close he stayed to help me with my phone, when the owner of the shop said he had to leave Slava took me to his brother’s store (Another Uphill Wireless at 670 Yonge Street) to see if he had a charging port that can help me with my problem.
When I got to Dmitriy’s store, he was about to close too but helped me with my phone problem anyways, in the end he was able to find a charging port for my phone and fixed the battery charging issue, although I had to pay for the replaced parts I was grateful and happy that they did all they can to help me even though it was after closing time.
They are both very reliable brothers that want to help you with your phone!
But after my charging problem was fixed, my touchscreen was laggy or it freezes, I was going to go back today to get it checked out but it seems to work fine now but will update the review if I do need to go back about the freezing problem.
Overall this is the place to go if you have a cracked screen or need new parts for your phone. :)

The cracked screen on my Nexus 5 was repaired in 15 minutes and for less than I’ve found anywhere else, and now it looks as good as new and came with a 1 year warranty.
Check in on Unilocal and you get $ 10 off! Right around the corner from Wellesley station, so it’s super convenient, and don’t be put off by the unusual store front (It shares a space with a perfume store). They also have a fairly large selection of phone accessories.

If there was a dukedom for breaking iPhones (screens and otherwise), you betcha I’d have it!
Slava has been a necessary component of my clumsy iPhone lifestyle. He fixes screens for a ridiculously reasonable price, and all while you wait. And get this — he doesn’t even charge you extra for repairing them so quickly!
His personality is «interesting». I find it entertaining, others would say annoying. But seriously, who cares when the guy has magic hands with technology and low low prices.
Take this from someone who has broken enough iPhone screens to fill a couple of dem Kipling landfills.
