Dlish Cupcakes

I am Sorry to say that these cupcakes were mediocre at best. Too much icing, and the actual cupcake tasted like Duncan Hines. Fancy store that lacks a good product.

Absolutely amazing. Nothing else need be said. If you are looking for spectacular cup cakes, look no further. I have been here many times and they never disappoint.

My first cupcakes outside of the US and these are pretty good. We tried the red velvet, cookies and cream, and coconut. I liked the red velvet and cookies and cream slightly more than the coconut but they were all moist, flavorful and dlish!

Purchased a few cupcakes and brownie for dessert. The cupcakes were very good particularly the salted caramel. It was just the right mix of savory and sweet. The brownie was equally impressive moist and full of rich cocoa flavor. Compared to other bakeries in the area I found the prices to be reasonable.

One of the best cupcake stores in the city.
If u don’t care for these confections, u must be a truly unhappy person.

I used to go to the Yorkville one, I really hope they go back and open up another one within the same area. Their cupcakes are absolutely divine and delicious. I especially like the cupcake toppers they put on them (very similar to Sprinkles cupcakes in the U.S.). The prices are steep for cupcakes, but I guess they are worth it because everything is made fresh and sold in the morning-​of. They are open while quantities last, some days the cupcakes go fast, other days they have a decent amount. I had custom ones made for my birthday and they turned out perfect (with custom cupcake toppers). I do not like red velvet, but I tried their red velvet cupcake and it was decent. Ever since I have had Dlish cupcakes no other cupcakes compare. I highly recommend trying them – an excellent indulgent for a sweet treat in Toronto.
My favourites: vanilla, dark chocolate, coconut macaroon, cookies and cream.

This bakery is appropriately named! The cupcakes are perfectly sized — not jumbo but large enough to be a real treat! They are so beautiful. I tried the apple caramel — delicious. The icing was light and not overly sweet. I’m sold.

As far as cupcakes go, Dlish is about as good as the city can offer right now. Moist crumb, inventive and plentiful fillings and toppings, and great consistency of quality.
Doesn’t ever seem really busy, so it’s also reliable in terms of getting a quick fix.
Prices are okay, about average for the city.
We actually used them as part of the dessert display for our wedding (they sell cardboard stands, and also rent a nicer wooden one).
Once you’ve sampled a few, use their handy little menu to know what days of the week to go to pick up your faves. Salted caramel ones are ours.

Worst customer service/​attitude ever!
I placed an order online, received a confirmation with a delivery time and then NOTHING!
After calling the store, a manager called back and said they never received the order and IT will look into it. He then proceeded to give me a geography lesson about TO (thanks, but no thanks) and went on and on about how they wouldn’t have been able to deliver it even if they got the email. No apologies, no compassion, and absolutely no compensation for ruining my gift. Small businesses should know that problem solving and owning up to mistakes are the key to customer retention. Never again.

I received a dozen assorted cupcakes delivered to my home from Dlish. I’m sure I tried all the flavors but I’m uncertain because there wasn’t a list of what was in the box. Nevertheless, from purely a taste and presentation standpoint, I really enjoyed each cupcake.
I’m not a cupcake fan to begin with, but I liked every one of 12 I tried! The frosting is what makes each so great, the buttery light texture makes me think I’m not really eating too much, when in reality, I am. The flavors are great, the look of each cupcake is «cute» and photo worthy. The cake itself isn’t too special, but on the side of denser with a splash of moistness (if that made sense…). Eaten together with the icing, as normal people do when not dissecting it for a review, it’s a good combo.
Overall, I liked Dlish cupcakes even though, I’m not a cupcake eating kind of person!

I’m always leery of anyone who sells red velvet cupcakes because they are normally not good. But let me tell you… the red velvet cupcakes I got from Dlish were heavenly. I ate one everyday I was in Toronto! I can only review the red velvet because once I tried that one there was no way I was going to put anything else in my mouth. The cupcake was the perfectly moist and flavorful, I think I actually closed my eyes and hummed when I took the first bite.
It’s a small shop on a very quaint street and there isn’t much room inside for seating but I was happy to take mine to go. My rating is solely based on the red velvet, I can’t tell you anything about any other flavor in the shop.

I was looking for gourmet cupcakes so I dropped in at Dlish. They have a cute little shop with a small amount of seating. The service was friendly. They only had a small choice of flavours so I got the vanilla, red velvet, cookies and cream, salted caramel, and the maple walnut. The prices were what I expect to pay for the product.
I feel bad about saying something negative because they seem like a small business trying to make it on Queen West, which I’m sure must not have the cheapest rent. However I thought the cupcakes weren’t great. They didn’t seem to be baked that day, and they weren’t fluffy. Also, I really dislike their icing. Super sugary, and not smooth, kind of hard on the outside. The red velvet tasted undercooked. I’m not sure where to get amazing cupcakes in TO yet, but I wouldn’t go here again.

Had the coconut macaroon, and chocolate marshmallow, both were great, only $ 3 which isn’t a bad price. Different cupcakes are made on different days. Also very fresh

Been coming here occasionally for the last two years. I tried other cupcake joints and always find myself crawling back to Dlish every time.
$ 3 + tax is a big bite in my wallet for a cupcake, but I find it quite justifiable.
The place is a little cupcake joint that only has a few seating at the front of the store, nothing fancy. The workers here are always so friendly and never rushes you when you need to take your time deciding on a cupcake.
Each month, they have a limited edition cupcake that is only available on certain days — these are always the ones that keep me coming back. They have a schedule of which cupcakes are available on which days. So far I have tried a good amount from their permanent selection.
The red velvet is my favourite cupcake from this place. One of the best that I’ve tried so far and definitely one that I always get every time I come here.

Wow really? I’m surprised to see so many reviews with more than 3 stars!
Maybe they were having an off-​day when I went (extremely off then.), but the cupcakes were absolutely trash. We ordered a red velvet and a chocolate cupcake. Both my friend and I gave each other the same exact ‘WTF’ look after our first bite. The cake was so dry and they had no flavour.
We also ordered two cups of coffee. HUGE mistake. I’ve never taste such horrible coffee in my life… it basically tasted like gross water.
We went across the street to Nadege to cleanse our palates with much more amazing coffee and sweets.

Cute little shop and pretty cupcakes. DLish on Queen West gets a lot of traffic (more than the lesser known but equally cute Yorkville location).
Got the box of 6 for $ 17:
— Salted caramel, good balance of salt and sweet
— Choc marshmallow, a little too sweet
— Nutella, good flavour
— Walnut, the icing was too sweet
— Red velvet, didn’t get to taste
— Carrot cake, didn’t get to taste
I liked the cake base, not dry nor overly moist but basic. Good amount of icing, but depending on the flavour, some are too sweet and others were just right.
Service was efficient with a smile and a quick reminder not to put them in the fridge.
Packaging problem, although the box and paper bag looked sound and sturdy, I got home and found the cupcakes were all over the place and smooshed (had the same issue with Glory Hole donuts). I’m sure I didn’t drop, tilt or shake the bag, luckily this was for taste purposes and my niece and nephews could care less what they looked like.
DLish cupcakes were good, but they weren’t mind-​blowing. I’d like to try the rest of the flavours, but only when I’m in the area.

I’ve tried both Dlish locations (Queen and Yorkville) and their cupcakes did not disappoint. My friend and I ordered the red velvet, chocolate coconut and vanilla– they were all moist, super sweet/​sugary and easily the best cupcakes in Toronto. Five star quality but –2 stars for completely ripping off Sprinkles Cupcakes’ entire concept.

After reading above average reviews from my fellow Unilocal comrades I knew I had to check out this cupcake haven for myself. I really wanted to jump on the DLish bandwagon but unfortunately my first experience at this shop was disappointing.
The store is small which is not unusual as I generally do not expect cupcake shops to be a full out cupcake eatery with fancy booths and dining tables. It is a cute little shop located on Queen Street West designed for the stop and shop clientele.
The overall service was adequate, meaning the staff members weren’t rude but they weren’t friendly either.
The cupcakes I had were cookies and cream, dark chocolate, and red velvet. I wasn’t too impressed with the taste and texture of the cupcakes. I found them to be dry and dense and nothing out of the ordinary. To me they were all basic vanilla and chocolate based cupcakes and a basic red velvet cupcake. Nothing about them stood out. The icing wasn’t too sweet but it still wasn’t something to rave over. The size of the cupcakes was fairly small and I didn’t think it was worth the $ 3. I wouldn’t say these cupcakes are the best in Toronto but perhaps I came at a bad time and ate cupcakes from a bad batch. I am willing to give them another try however it’s unfortunate that my first impression of this place wasn’t a good one.

I had one of their specials: Eggnog Spice. I like that the icing is not sickening and I loved the cute little cutouts they put on top. I found the cake portion of the cupcake a little dry. I prefer a more moist cupcake. That being said, I did enjoy my cupcake.
I also read a review on here that this shop seems to take from a shop called Sprinkles and based on my own research out of curiosity, I agree. It is very similar. This disappointed me.

My fav. cupcake shop, not very masculine to say that but hey, it’s good!
The presentation and the packaging is awesome as well.
My favorite is the red velvet which always sells out fast, the icing isn’t overly sweet and the cupcake itself doesn’t feel like it’s packed with butter and sugar either, so it’s the combination if you don’t have a heavy sweet tooth.
There’s only 2 – 3 seats at the counter so it is mostly a take out joint.
Tip: Sometimes when you go at closing you’ll get a deal on whatever is left however they have been sitting there for a while so not as good as fresh in the opening hours.

I hate to go back somewhere and mark them down… but I really have to I think.
My first experience was picking a random cupcake out of a box and getting a bite of some others. The peanut butter earned the 4 star rating.
I’ve been to the retail location now though and had the opportunity to try some more. Staff were friendly so the purchasing experience was good. I wasn’t given a box though-​a little bag both times. Maybe it’s less packaging? They don’t really travel too well in it though!
The three I’ve tried since (split into 2 separate days) were:
–Salted caramel: the frosting was OK, not very flavourful. The cake was terrible-​doughy and heavy
–Red velvet: light, fluffy bun but not much chocolate flavour. The frosting was way too sweet for my taste though and I could eat sugar for every meal. And have done. I could practically feel the plaque tracking across my teeth as I ate it. I ended up dumping it.
–Nutella: frosting was OK but I could definitely feel the little grains of sugar in it. Cake suffered the same fate as the salted caramel and was doughy.
The two cakes I bought today were $ 6.78 after tax which was a bit pricey for the size.
All in all, there are better places. Some hits, but it’s hard to forgive doughy cakes from a cupcakery…

Well — many folks have giving you the low down on this place, but I’ll add my two cents.
Wonderful flavours — the consistency of the cupcakes are divine — so light! Liked that they put them in a special box so they travelled well and stayed intact.
We tried the — Red Velvet, Coconut Chocolate, Chocolate with Vanilla Icing and Strawberry.
My friend loved the Coconut Chocolate — my fav was the Red Velvet (it had cream cheese icing).
The staff were great — so friendly!
BTW — if you go late in the day be prepared to only have a few choices to select from!

Sure i agree with most of you, i like the birthday program. Free cupcake on your birthday.
I had a red velvet there last month. Yup, too lazy to write a review. I was not impress. The cake was dry, not quite stale yet that evening. I literally bought it 5 minutes to closing, so i don’t know if i got one from the day before, or it was a bad batch. I’ve definitely had better in the city. I do like their icing, but altogether, I was not happy with it. Rather save my calories if i’m spending money for a dry cupcake.
I’ve been to cora’s, wedding cake shop, the one in liberty village, whatever that one is called on Yonge near Eglinton. this particular experience definitely is at the bottom of the list.
