Yes, the place was crammed. Yes, there were drunk people in the back. But as someone who got a completely busted rear tire + inner tube and was desperate to get home to care for a sick husband, I have to say I’m forever grateful to the guy who got it fixed and ready to go in 10 minutes. I already have a usual bike repair shop I go to, but I think I found my emergency pit stop here. Also, the drunk guys can be pretty entertaining.

Came here once to fix a flat and he charged me $ 20 even though the website says $ 15. When I came to pick up the bike he went into a tirade about how terrible the news is and Communism, which was amusing at first but dragged on and became annoying since I just wanted to pick up my bike, he was clearly drunk and I saw empty beer cans lying about.

I’ve visited Cyclemania 3 times in total for service. The first time was great — fixed a hole in my flat tire for $ 15. The second time I went in for a tune up. They charged me $ 70 + hst and did a shitty job — which led to my visit the 3rd time — to get them to fix what they forgot to and redo the tune up. I was pissed to find out that Sweet Pete’s only charges $ 60 for a tune up and is in a beautiful store just down the street at Lansdowne. These guys took advantage and I will not be back. Weird vibe in the store — it seems to be a live/work space in the back and there is a revolving door of people in different states of inebriation. Service, quality and the fixtures around that place are really going downhill.

Service was o.k. The item that was installed on my bike, looks secure. Prices were reasonable. I was there on a Friday afternoon, and the task was completed in impressive time –one day. However, there is drinking(and smoking) on the job. Sure, it might have been the person’s break, but still you have to wonder if the worker will work on your bike sober, drunk, or in-between. Pretty nice guy otherwise; I felt bad including some details that I included in my original post. I’ve since toned this new review down, but stand my my current two star rating.

The staff here was helpful and pretty funny, a little pushy sometimes. I test drove a wonderful 7-speed Trek hybrid for $ 450 that is a popular seller. It’s a cramped place, but you’re there to buy a bike. They have a pretty good selection of new, used, homebrewed, and some weird bikes. It’s definitely worth taking a look at.
