Needlessly to say, Cocktail Bar is one of my favourite places in town. The unique & classic drinks light up my every single visit, although it’s kinda sad now because I came here a lot with my ex :( Absinthe Whip is my top choice on the menu. Not only it’s because I’m a huge absinthe connoisseur myself, it is pure genius to mix absinthe and coconut milk together. The creamy taste of coconut smoothed the stingy alcohol taste of the absinthe, but still retains its unique herbal spice & flavour. Honestly, I would never think about this possibility. As an amateur bartender myself, Cocktail Bar is really a huge inspiration to me. I will be back soon & have an update on my review :)

Gets busy really fast so come early! Great cocktail selections, it’s for the adventurous :) Classy and hip, small place but well designed. I don’t come regularly but I visit when I’m in the neighbourhood.

Best penicillin I’ve had outside of New York. And the rest follow. Good bar snacks. I’ll be back!

Great place for a date :) If you’re into well made cocktails this is a place for you, truly delicious. There are many unique drinks to choose from, something for everyone. The bartenders take their time crafting the drinks to perfection and you won’t be disappointed. Atmosphere: It’s a small cozy place with a warm environment. Candle on each table and a beautiful bar with an almost antique feel. We easily got a table at 8pm on a Saturday but there was a lineup by 9pm so it’s easier if you come a bit on the early side. Our waiter was really nice and friendly. He gladly answered any questions about the menu and made recommendations. I can’t wait to come back here

I had the most horrible experience at this place. This was resulted from horrible behaviour of serves and their cash and debit only method of payment. Three of us ordered a few drinks, but at the bill time none of our cards were found acceptable. They asked us to go and get cash from a nearby ATM thru our credit cards(nobody had debit or cash). We tried and explained to them about the 20% interest and hit to credit score and instead we suggested paying the bill thru money transfer if they discount the charge from the bill. They were unwilling to discount 1.5 $ from the 80 $ bill. We agreed to use the cash back on cc at a nearby store to pay. On the way to the nearby store we start receiving miserable behaviour from the serve accompanying us which seemed to be owner or manager. «-We always send people with cc to ATM –in my three businesses we all do the same as send cc to ATMs –you are trying not to pay, you cannot do that. I work for a reason, you cannot not pay» Last comment really hit me. We are buying crap we don’t need and going through hell to pay you and you say this!!? They are horrible rude people, stay away if you do not want to be bullied on your Saturday night. –you are trying not t

One of my favorite bars in Toronto. They make serious cocktails but don’t take themselves too seriously. Attentive service, excellent libations, intimate setting and a nice patio for summery weather. Paired with the Black Hoof, Cocktail Bar before(and after) makes a great night out.

This is my favorite place in the city to drink. The cocktails are superb, the barkeep fast and polite. The Hornet’s Nest and Racquet Club are my two go-to’s, but I’ve never had a bad drink here. Outside of Musso and Frank in LA, this is my top choice when anyone asks me where to get a good drink. For those who are complaining that they don’t serve vodka… perhaps you’d be more at home in a bar that has a television.

Fun drinks with a great vibe. Loved the Roaring 20s feel and music. Any place that serves up gin with a ginger beer wins in my books.

Bad attitude — I asked for a vodka drink and got chastised like I was supposed to know through osmosis that these hipsters have decided to curate a bar without vodka. Lose the attitude, and stock some damn vodka.

Everyone in my party got the same drink(just happened that way) and it was pretty good. They definitely try to imitate or at least pay homage to some of the big names in the cocktail biz by recreating their drinks. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite cocktail bar ever or even in the top 10, but the outdoor patio, kind service, and interior design were top notch and that’s worthy of an extra star.

For the record the duck wings and chicken hearts are NOT on the menu Tuesday’s and Wednesday’s. Not a bad thing just a heads up. I went on a Wednesday for the wings and I stayed for the drinks. The place is still amazing. Though, I strongly suggest going when they serve the duck wings.

another white elephant — a wonderful cocktail bar in Toronto, worthy of the high prices. I have been several times and have yet to encounter a server or bartender who wasn’t both friendly and knowledgeable. I haven’t ever been disappointed by a drink here, and I have very high standards for cocktails in bars.

You’re probably going to come here for drinks while you wait for a table at the Black Hoof. The craft cocktails are great, but you must try the duck wings! The wings were meaty and rich. Tossed in buffalo sauce with a bit of blue cheese dressing. I’ve sometimes found blue cheese so strong that it takes away from the flavour of the meat. This wasn’t the case here. We came here AFTER our meal at the Black Hoof. My friends told me to save room for the wings because they were really good, and I’m glad I did. Like others have mentioned, they only take cash or Canadian debit. Come prepared.

Amazing cocktails in a great setting. We only wanted to stay for ONE drink but ended up staying for three.each. Had a bar snack nuts and cocktails on the outside patio deck. Beautiful setting and you can see everyone make your cocktails right in front of you. Classy time and worth every penny! What makes this review 5 stars is the Black Hoof, same owner, is right across the street which is where we ended up for dinner and had not kidding the best meal of my life.

Tiny tiny place right across the street from the Black Hoof. No real signage outside either, and the name is simply Cocktail bar. It’s one of the few places you can go while you wait for a table at the Black Hoof if need be. The place is dimly lit, tiny, intimate, and slightly romantic if I’m to be honest. I know I should be talking about drinks, but honestly, I had one thing and one thing only… Duck Wings. I know this is a cocktail bar and my friend ordered himself the Corpse Reviver, which tasted real good and sweeter than I thought. The duck wings were actual large duck wings that were served buffalo style, tossed with hot sauce and butter. The wings were incredible! The crunch of the duck skin, along with the meat really made this the ideal snack to have. If you’re looking for libations and a quick snack, do yourself a favor and come by here. Usually there is a lineup at Black Hoof, so if you can, stop by inside for a drink and have them call you when your table is ready. Simple.

What a classy joint. The 40s music playing when we walked in instantly gave this place a charm like no other. It’s comfortable, low key, dim and cozy. Now let’s talk about a drink I tried from their seasonal menu. The ABSINTHEWHIP. It’s listed ingredients are: absinthe, orange, coconut and pistachio. It was meticulously blended with all four flavours shining in their best light. My girlfriend had the Mescalero, another seasonal delight made with cardamom tequila. This drink contains egg white to give it a bit of a creamy/foamy consistency(if you dry shake correctly… and they do!) The bartenders here have skills. The menu is creative and well thought out using the finest ingredients. Don’t forget to read the blurbs under the drink ingredients. They’re hilarious.

I didn’t try any of their food, but their cocktails are great! They’re pretty strong, and all of them are very interesting, with interesting names. Although I’d say their names don’t really match the profile of the drink. We thought the Busta Rhymes would be a ratchet-looking OG-style cocktail, but it is served in a quaint wine glass with a lemon peel surrounding the inside of the glass, and the liquid is a light color; it looked nothing like a «Busta Rhymes». I am not taking a star off for that, of course, it’s just an observation. Cocktails range from $ 9-$ 16. The reason for taking off the star is how small and stuffy it is inside, and service is not that great.

Yes, the cocktails are great and yes, the ambiance is cozy and romantic and cool. BUT, at $ 16 a drink, Cocktail Bar DOESNOTACCEPTCREDITCARDS! 3 drinks will set you back $ 50 and you can’t charge it. That’s just not right. I brought an American friend here visiting from New York and he didn’t have any Canadian dollars or a Canadian dollar chequing account… so he couldn’t pay for his drinks! I hope Cocktail Bar will consider changing this outdated and rather stingy practice.

Absolutely the best cocktails I’ve had in Toronto so far! The décor is very 1920’s and cosy. The place is small so we did have to wait but it was worth it. The bartender is amazing! We did not feel rushed at all. The drinks taste great and even look gorgeous. A must try!
