Meet the Business Owner

Sarah W.

Business Owner

Sarah began her life in St. Thomas, Ontario. She has always had a love of animals and at various times in her childhood, she lived with rabbits, fish and a dog. One day, Spot, an orange tabby, decided that he’d like to make her house his house. Spot was Sarah’s first cat and he showed her what a beautiful, smart, entertaining and generally demanding species he represented. She has loved them ever since.

Sarah moved to Toronto to study film. After graduation, she started volunteering at the Toronto Humane Society in the kitten nursery. It was here that Sarah discovered she really liked working with animals, especially cats, and decided to make animal care her career. She started Cleopawtra Spa for Cats in 2005 and she has been working at veterinary clinics since 2006.

Sarah currently shares her home with Max, a black domestic shorthair, Sophie, a calico medium hair and Captain Jack, an orange tabby kitten.

Sarah is amazing. I was so worried about having my cat’s nails trimmed. She is such a pro that my cat was pretty relaxed and it was all done in a couple of minutes. I’m really happy.

Having just moved here from the States, Sarah definitely came to the rescue. I noticed quickly that there wasn’t a lot of accomdations for cats in the city, so I’m very thankful for Sarah and her business. Harold, my persian fluff ball, loves her and Sarah does an amazing job with him.

I’ve been MIA from Unilocal for good reason: I became a parent. A parent to a very overweight senior cat with the most handsome face and I just can’t get enough of him! (Insert squeals, cooing and babbles here)
Parenting is not all fancy headbutts and purring, however; we’ve discovered that nail trimming is an activity our son doesn’t particularly excel at and neither do we, as cat parents (yet).
Comes Sarah to the rescue! I seriously worried about the outcome of the visit since our mobile vet said Joey has been one of the most feisty and resistant to handling she’s seen! But Sarah came right in, super friendly, no nonsense right down to business, and showed JoJo who was boss. In her words to Joey: «it’s not my first time at the rodeo, love».
Great website, prompt communication and appointment, and a very skilled cat handler who is super helpful. As I conclude this review, I am finally realizing «Cleopawtra» must be Sarah herself. (!!!) Bowing down to the best!

I am so grateful that I discovered Cleopawtra! I have difficulty trimming my cats nails, she’s a rescue kitty who does not like to be handled. And she might be tiny, but she’s also mighty — only nine pounds and with no teeth, she is still a very tough customer. I recently moved and started going to a new vet, who was unable to trim Winona’s nails even with my help and the help of a vet assistant. Sarah was excellent with her, and so accommodating! Our first visit was tonight and she handled Winona’s ire wonderfully. I will definitely become a Cleopawtra regular.

Sarah is awesome! I emailed her with a bunch of questions and she got back to me quickly and was very thorough in her answers.
We booked a time and she was prompt, friendly and professional. We brought Addie into the bathroom and she was relaxed! Sarah groomed her, gave her breaks and was excellent! Cat is happy (and adorable), I’m relaxed and relieved — it was pretty stress free! I’ve recommended her to friends. We’ll be calling her again! Thanks Sarah!

Sarah is honestly a Godsend. My poor kitten was miserable, due to a rough babyhood she never learned to self-​groom and despite daily effort, she matted with regularity. Sarah came to our condo and gave her a «Lion Cut» and she is a kitten again! She runs and climbs and plays like a kitten, is openly affectionate, and is actually happy. Sarah is the absolute best groomer in the city, and we owe her a LARGE debt of gratitude. She is honestly incredibly patient and gentle and was even willing to allow our Chihuahua to sit in on the session so that she could ensure the safety of her best friend.

Sarah is just the greatest. We struggled to find a cat groomer in Toronto that would work with our schedule, and were so lucky to come across Sarah and Cleopawtra. She’s come over twice now to give our long haired cat, Jean Luc Picard, the Lion Treatment. For a very reasonable price, Sarah will come over at your convenience and give your cat an awesome haircut. At the the point when cat hair is flowing across our floor like tumbleweeds, Sarah is a total lifesaver — and beyond that, she is just a great person — super friendly, delightful to chat with, and so good with our cat. If you want to make your cat grooming experience awesome, you need to book Sarah!

I would recommend Sarah in a heartbeat. She gave our kitty Harry a wonderful lion cut, as he had numerous knots. She was kind, gave him breaks, and calmed him down the entire time. I think it’s wonderful she comes to your home. She has after work hours which I found super convenient. And if you want to assist her in grooming your cat, that’s great. If not, she will bring an assistant for an extra charge. I helped assist with her, and I found she kept the conversation going and gave lots and lots of love to our cat. Harry wasn’t as nervous because he was in his own surroundings. It took about an hour, and was not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. We will definitely be asking Sarah back.

Sarah at Cleopawtra is fantastic!
She has been giving my big, furry brown tabby Angus «lion cut» haircuts since 2010 when I found her online and it has made my life much easier!
Instead of trying to wrangle your cat into a carrier and to the groomers or vet clinic, Sarah brings her cheery self and her equipment right to your door. This is important because it means that your cat isn’t stressed out by travel before the groomer even begins! And even more importantly, she doesn’t use any drugs — just her patience and experience (and maybe a towel if needed) and she is patient, thorough and careful and does a fantastic lion cut!
Additionally, she is available in the evenings (for those who work 9 – 5 this is so important!) and she has squeezed me in when she has had cancellations and Angus needed a haircut pronto!
AND…she is VERY reasonably priced (check her website for details, I am easily saving $ 40 per cut compared to what I used to pay at the vet’s office!)
I am so happy I found Sarah — she makes shaving my cat easy (which, as any cat owner knows, is truly a miracle!)
