Reminiscent of some of the movie theatres in New York, this place is absolutely HUGE! It consists of ground floor retail space, a Goodlife gym, multiple floors with various restaurants/​bars, a legit food court, & ultimately the Cineplex — and depending on which screening room you are in, you *may* have to take a coupla extra escalators to reach your final destination.
(I’m sure this is a slight exaggeration, but I may have gone up a dozen separate escalators. And no exaggeration on this one, but there are 24 screens here! So pretty convenient location if you’re downtown and are looking to watch a movie… any movie.)
Frankly, at some points, it made me dizzy so note to self: Do not text/​use your phone while traveling up/​down the escalators. Probably not the best place to be drunk either, so keep that in mind when you’re deciding whether or not your should order that extra drink at the Shark Club!
Bonus: Direct access to Dundas Stn, BUT you’ll hafta travel down a dozen sets of escalators!

Time for an update for this theater. I can’t praise Cineplex enough for the VIP theater approach the have taken here. Assigned lush seating check, food and drinks served to your seat check, no one under 19 kicking your seat check and check. The front row seats actually recline all the way back. There is quite a bit of up charge for the VIP theaters but its worth IMO if you are movie luver and want to see it in a comfortable fashion. There is bit more oomph in the sound systems at IMAX and Ultra AVX and screen size is a lot bigger but if I have a choice I would rather watch a movie that’s not shot in IMAX here. The beer and wine selection is OK and I even saw people drinking a whole bottle of wine by themselves!
Good for night out if bars and clubs are not scene I suppose.

There are 5 people behind the counter of concession station, yet only 1 is working. The other ones are just talking to each other while rolling their eyes at customers. I JUST NEED MY POPCORN WHY IS IT SO HARD???
Wide selection of movies though.
Dont come if you are that type of person who arrives at theatre 5 mins before the movie starts and still want to buy popcorn and still dont want to miss the beginning of your movie. Just dont.

Went to the VIP section for a movie last night. Have to admit that sitting in a nice big theatre, comfy seats and no kids with full menu and drink service is nice. The only issue I had with this yesterday was that we came an hour early so they were cleaning up the theatre. We decided to grab a drink at the VIP bar instead of going to Shark Club or Jacks nearby and the service was terrible! The girl working at the bar was rude and looked miserable. Once we were able to get into the theater, a different girl served us and she was very nice. For VIP prices I expect better service. Other than that, the fact that we can reserve our seats is nice. I also do like this theatre better than Scotiabank one.

The line is always too long if you wait in line. The self serve ticket machines always have at least two broken during peak times. They need a better way to direct the traffic of the people. Food is overpriced but expected. If you served better food, people might actually buy more food. I come for the movies not the incompetence.

I thought Imax theatres were bigger or maybe when I was younger everything seem big.
Like the 3D technology, seemed more advance than the regular theatre 3D.
You can select your seats when purchasing online. I’d sit mid on the upper area otherwise there are hand rails that will block the screen or sit last row on the bottom set of seats.

While it may seem a daunting cinema to get to for suburbanites trying to find strategies to park and unpark their cars, this Cineplex is a godsend if you like to have a destination to walk to downtown to see a show. Surrounded by a gaudy splendour that is Dundas Square and Yonge Street, the entrance is on Dundas with a myriad of escalators whisking theatre goers to a dark room in the labyrinth at one of the busiest corners in the city.
The staff seemed helpful to point the way around, and there are elevators too, but they are not easily found and didn’t seem too responsive when I looked.
Crowds can get intense at this theatre but the lines went well with both the kiosk ticket machines and the regular ones. The theatre we went to was clean and spacious making this theatre the one to go to especially considering the whole wide world of downtown awaits you within a few footsteps outside the doors.

got a chance to see my first 3d movie here, which gave me a splitting headache, none the less, an absolute amazing place to watch a movie, smack dab in the middle of the city with lots of transit options. the business it self is full of very very helpful staff, and a very clean setting. the chairs for the movies are super comfy, and the snacks aren’t badly priced.
the washrooms are clean as well, which is a huge plus for me

We went to the VIP theatre which was pretty much normal size. Which is great as I’ve seen some VIP theatres with are tiny. It was great to be able to prebook the seats and just show up for a popular movie.
One annoying part is to get to the VIP theatre you have take 7 escalators, so it gets pretty annoying, especially if you are tight on time.

Cool seats. Huge screens. Ok food. I really think they should add better food and drinks to this theater. Maybe an IMAX, 3D, meal and drink package.

Here is the thing about the VIP, it is the biggest scam Cineplex has going (and they have a lot of scams running — $ 1 extra for «butter» that is not butter is my fav)
— $ 25 dollars a ticket to get the opportunity to «order» microwaved food and weak pints from a waitress.
— When I’m paying $ 25, and Cineplex is literally doubling their money on me, why then do I have to sit through 40 minutes of ads and previews (post «pre show»?). It’s insulting.
Cineplex is the worst company in Canada, and the reason why a monopoly is bad for consumers.

Not a great experience too much to go into here. Bad bad seating for VIP experience. Why put seats so close you need to lay all the way back to watch? Why not just remove those seats?
The price was not worth it but what can you do? Not much options for movie experience

I am a big fan of movie nights, and Cineplex at Yonge & Dundas always has the latest movies showing, whether you want to see a 3D or IMAX movie, or kick back in the VIP theatre with a beer.
If you are a regular moviegoer, be sure to sign up for Scene and collect points. On Tuesdays, ticket prices are much lower but the crowds can be a bit overwhelming. I tend to get VIP tickets on Tuesdays to avail of the lower prices and assigned seating, but that’s just me.
While it’s not as glamorous as the Cineplex Scotiabank Theatre, it’s definitely one of the best theatres downtown. For some reason, I find that this theatre shows more of the latest movies than Scotiabank, but I’m not sure why.

So I guess Tuesday night is discount night, so perhaps not totally fair to judge this place on everything but HOLY CRAP.
Took 45 minutes to pick up my PRE PURCHASED TICKETS.
3D glasses were filthy.
Exiting the theatre (6– jammed) took 25 minutes BECAUSE ITS A DEATHTRAP. God forbid needing to get out of there in a hurry.
Worst Cineplex I’ve ever visited.

Watched a movie in VIP for the first time (Straight outta Compton) and the extra few bucks was definitely worth it. The seats were couches that you would sit on at home, with a slide out mini table for your food. The service was good and the food came out quick as well. Ordered a jalapeño cheddar burger with fries. As expected it was like fast food, didn’t blow me away but didn’t disappoint. The fries were a little on the salty side but other than that it was a great experience.

Love this theatre. Visit is every time we come to Toronto. It’s in the middle of the T dot Dundas Square), which makes it great for hanging out, people watching, and dining. The theatre is in a center that has lots of eateries and a couple of restaurants. What’s great, is that it is open late (11:30 PM shows). I also like that the shows are on the 3^rd and 4^th floors, with escalators near the windows, allowing one to view the goings-​on outside. The new VIP lounge/​restaurant, and theatres/​auditoriums with leather rocking chairs (not reclining) are very nice, but super expensive ($ 24.99 v. $ 12.95) for an adult/​weekend/​evening ticket. Yikes. Once the other theatres/​auditoriums and bathrooms are updated, this place will earn 5 stars. This is my 200^th review. No better place to get this review than Cineplex Odeon Yonge & Dundas Cinemas. 6÷28÷15

It’s been three years since my last review of this theatre, so time for an update! Sadly, no more stars to give.
Now they have a VIP section that has some pros, some cons. Pros: comfortable seats! You can pick your seats ahead of time. 19+ so no more teenagers or babies getting in your way. No sneaking in! They sell alcohol so you can feel extra grown up.
Cons: despite the other recent review saying there are private bathrooms, there aren’t. You have to go back outside to use the (super gross) bathroom. They need to do better bathroom checks. The price tag is hefty at $ 25! The VIP attendants are clueless, and their machines are almost always broken. You don’t get Scene points for your purchases which makes no sense. Butter to my popcorn cost two bucks extra – insanity!
Overall, still A okay for the neighbourhood but room for improvement. I guess we will see if it happens in the next couple of years!

We went to see a movie here today and got VIP tickets —— oh my gosh a life changer! …worth the extra money. Once you walk through the upper floor «VIP section» that has a sitdown beautiful modern restaurant and bar area, private washrooms and then a walkway to your movie theater, you will never look back and go to ordinary theater seating again.
You actually have a server who comes to your sofa that takes your order… From a pretty large alcohol menu and wonderful appetizers and meal menu as well as popcorn, candy and soda’s, and typical movie theater stacks.
Absolutely fantastic comfortable great leather sofas with tables attached holders for your drinks… wonderful sound system… Just makes going to the movies at five star venue!

Went to go see «50 Shades of Grey» in AVX.
I like the convenience of this theatre and I was happy to know that Cineplex bought them out. The AVX theatre was spacious and it was truly bigger sound and screen.
Another great feature is that you can watch different versions of the same movie.
Also a great spot to catch a movie as there are many restaurants close by to have a dinner before or a late bite.
