Cards and Presents

Bought a couple rings from here a few weeks back. I’m just getting into rings so I wasn’t really sure what to get.
Staff were nice-​ish about helping me out.
But the rings are sh*t quality. One of them has already stretched to the point that it’s an entire size up. The other one will probably get chucked next time I wear it because it’s fallen apart too much.

Don’t waste your money. The items here are very low quality. I bought a necklace for a friend. Her clasp broke within a month. I bought a bag for another friend, her zipper broke within a month. Pretty embarrassing. Definitely would not shop here and you can get same items elsewhere for the same price and possibly better quality.

Need a gift for a dame? Head for this bright pink storefront on Queen street west. Inside you’ll find any number of girl-​oriented giftables, from kitchy boxes/​tins, silk scarves, jewellery, greeting cards, pashminas, coffee mugs, etc.
Unlike other gift shops this place isn’t stuffed to the gills with bric-​à-​brac. In fact, it’s quite sparse. I found that I had looked at everything after 2.8 sworls of the store, which is a pseudo-​scientific system of measurement of my own creation.
C&S does however, fulfill the required coefficient of cute of a place stocking gifts for girls. It’s worth a browse.

Menu Readability: Their handpainted façade is something else.
Need to mention: Watch your step walking in. It’s uneven.
What this place teaches me about myself: The best gift for a dame is something that comes from the heart. Like a superior vena cava.

This store is hard to miss. When in doubt, just look for the hot pink doorway.
I’ve loved this store pretty much from day one. Not only are the owners super friendly and accommodating, but they make it a point to promote and sell pieces from local jewellers and artists.
To add to that, I was looking for a very specific gift for my mom a couple of years ago, and not only did the owner help me source it, but once I found it (atanother store even!), he helped me put it together with a piece from his store! How gracious is that???
Whether you’re looking for silk scarves, purses, wallets, candles, cards, tea pots, incense, jewellery or pretty much anything you can put into a box with a bow to gift, you need to come to this place.
They’ll have what you’re looking for — even if you don’t know exactly what that is.

I have a feeling this store has had a major upgrade since Kim B’s post. I tried to find this place by searching for jewelry, but could not for the life of me find the store.
So this store is definitely not just cards and stationary, it now has a plethora of local hand made jewelry for sale, kind of like at art fairs or the CNE. There are semi precious stones and silver. There are still very many cards and a bunch of cute tea sets and gift items. I bought two artistic teapots as gifts for family friends. I would recommend this place to shop for gifts for any female in your life. There is a ton of one of a kind pieces and lots of well priced cute girly items.
I really liked this place, but I did have an issue with the service. The woman helping me was really demanding. Telling me to get something myself instead of helping me. However, it might have been a cultural thing because I think she was well intentioned.

I will start my Unilocal reviewing by covering one of my favourite stores ever. Affectionately dubbed «The Pink Store» by everyone who works nearby, this place is a little haven. When works starts bringing you down, it’s a great place to escape too. All of the colour can really cheer you up! The store is filled with so many neat products-​work by local jewelry designers, handmade items, quirky gifts and just overall fun stuff. The staff are friendly and helpful, quick to say hello and seem to always be laughing and having a good time. The prices are great! Could you really beat handmade necklaces for less than $ 20?

The name alone should have told me to stay away… but it was so pretty and pink, I thought I might take a peek.
There was little evidence of things I would actually give as presents to people in the store. Nor were there very many cards. The place seemed half empty, with no a lot of variety of things, but just a lot of one thing (those glass balls you hang in the window being a MAJOR one of those things).
Plus the layout of the store was just weird. It had a sort of zigzag display down the center and a few things along the edges. It was just… weird. And nothing really stood out. Except for the Fiesta dinnerware, which was sold in separate pieces and very colourful (see my photos) and are the only reason I didn’t give this place one star.
