I honestly think these are the BEST cakes in Toronto. The presentation is very artistic — it’s a «piece of art» that tastes well :-) I ordered one of their cakes last week for my sister’s birthday party and, I was ashamed of myself… I finished 3 slices and still wanted more.

DESERVES MORE THAN 5 STARS!!! You get what you pay for, so delicious!!! Their macarons are amazing.
Just make sure you call if you’re going down there to make sure they are open because their hours are kind of wonky.

I agree that this is one of the most amazing haute cake stores ever! I had stumbled upon this store one day while walking on Eglinton. I love cupcakes so my husband and I went in to try one of their cupcakes. They were quite pricey at over $ 4 for a small cupcake but we decided to try one. We devoured it outside and then went back inside 5 minutes later to try another flavor. Most of their cupcake flavors are amazing-​my faves are the Cherubino, Musetta and Red Velvet. As for their cakes, they have elaborate designs that are very creative and just gorgeous. Walk into their store and you will get a feel for their excellent designs.
The staff is really friendly and sweet. My husband and I decided to splurge and get our wedding cake done there. We were really happy with their service and their professionalism.

I called Cake Opera on my way to them at 545pm and explained I was on my way but stuck in a bit of traffic so wanted to know if they were closing precisely at 6pm. The woman on the phone was extremely kind and assured me theyd wait for me and didnt mind staying open a few extra minutes. Wow! What a change from your typical stores and bakeries in Toronto.
At almost 6, I walked into Cake Opera and was hit by the smell of fresh baking. Yum! I was greeted by the pastry chef and given excellent service. I only purchased 3 cupcakes and 3 macarons but they were wrapped and I treated as though I had spent hundreds of dollars. Which at $ 4.25 a cupcake, is easy to do.
The cupcakes were light, delicious and the buttercream (swiss meringue), was creamy and smooth. This is one of the only bakeries where raspberry tastes like raspberry and isnt just pink icing. The lemon was tart, fresh and my favorite. The coconut was excellent and has coconut in the cake too not just icing. They only have red velvet on weekends so I will be back to try it.
My only complaint is cost. Yes the cakes are beautiful and tasty. However, I could do without the gold cupcake liner and over the top presentation in order to pay $ 1 less for what in essence is a glammed up cupcake. Will I go back? Yes but not as often as if prices were reasonable.
However, I have a sneaking suspicion that due to proximity to my home, I may end up here more than I think. Cake Opera makes me want to plan an extravagant event in order to get their cakes.

I visited Cake Opera on Macaron Day T.O. (March ²⁰⁄₂₀₁₂). First off, the store is beautiful! Very pretty, I felt like the Marie Antoinette in their logo. The owner and her staff of one were extremely pleasant and helpful. My friend and I received our free macarons with a smile, and I also purchased a box of six.

All delicious! The flavours were distinctive, the actual cookie was crisp & chewy & fresh. Your purchase is wrapped up as delicately and prettily as if you were at Laduree in Paris (box, tissue paper, paper bag, ribbon). Way nicer than MoRoCo Chocolate. One of the best places in the city to buy macarons!

I went here for my birthday, because I am a little bit gluten-​sensitive, and macarons are right up my alley.
I had heard the service was friendly, but when I looked in the window and saw these intensely elaborate cake creations and some kind of consultation going on inside I was almost too intimidated to walk in. I thought I was going to have some kind of Pretty Woman moment where they told me they didn’t cater to people buying 6 macarons.
However, I went in and the woman who served me was absolutely WONDERFUL and completely fussed over me, even though we were only buying a couple macarons (and impulse buying some meringue).
Everything tasted great and made for a very luxurious birthday experience.

I came here because I saw a list on BlogTO of the best new bakeries in Toronto, I was greatly disappointed. I tried four of their macarons (Dulce de leche & cinnamon, vanilla orange blossom, raspberry rose, and roasted hazelnut). They had great flavours where you can actually make out what you’re eating, but the problem was, all of them were dry. A macaron should have a slight crunch on the outside, and light and airy on the inside. The ones I had were a crunch all the way through. They probably have been sitting on the shelf for awhile. I have a feeling they don’t have a lot of walk-​in sales during the winter. I also tried their hazelnut and almond buttercream cupcake. This was really bad, the cream had a bitter taste to it, I had only two bites and had to throw it away.
Aside from that, their cake decorations are something to behold. They’re like masterpieces. Despite the bad experience with the macarons and cupcake, I’m willing to give them another try to bake my birthday cake or wedding cake. They were intricate art pieces, the pastry chef I was talking to told me one of the cakes they had on display took them 120 hours to produce!
It seems to me that they concentrate on the wedding business and big events. So if you’re planning a big event give them a try.
