I started shopping at Aveda about 10 years ago. Their handcream got rid of my eczema and was basically a miracle. While their products are great, their service leaves much to be desired. I went into Aveda recently with my sister to find a shampoo that would be beneficial for her itchy, dry scalp. We asked the sales associate(SA) to help us as we walked to the shampoos. My sister explained what she was looking for and the SA pointed out a few products that could help. I was looking at ingredients to avoid SLS and get as many moisture packing things in the shampoo she would choose. I was studying one that looked promising(had oats, lavender, aloe etc…) and asked whether it would stand up to the job. The sales associate said it would be great but that it would dry out the hair and a conditionner was necessary. I pointed out that considering the ingredients and lack of SLS, I was surprised to find it would be drying and the point of our purchase was to get something soothing and moisturizing. Why would she have told me it was a viable option if it wasn’t? «I’m not lying to you», she said. Woah. Never ever suggested you were. Just wondered why you would make a recommendation for a product that would be counterintuitive to what we needed it to do. You weren’t listening to anything we said. My sister shut that down quick and visibly displeased, she refused a sample and we left.
