99 Sudbury Events

I was at this place last night for the new years. never made it inside since the bouncer didn’t like my ids he wanted the id to be from Ontario which I didn’t have one since I just moved here… I had a ticket for their event but the bouncer was supper rude arrogant and he pushed me out by force in the freezing cold and didn’t let back in to talk to a supervisor or a manager none of the other people at the door helped with the situation and on top of all that when I told him to get his hands off me he shoved me to the ground I fell down and hurt my hand. Terrible terrible people and place who runs this event to allow such things to happen. So unclassy and cheap! No star at all!

I’m rating this place for the venue only. It’s a beautiful and spacious layout on the inside. There’s two big rooms: One is where the bar is located and it can easily fill about 50 people comfortably. The other room can perhaps fit 70 people and would be perfect for a lecture or in my case, a foodie fest. No complaints about security like the Unilocalers below. Pro tip: Parking is tough to find nearby so park anywhere near Queen and Ossington and take a 5 minute walk.

I’ve attended 4 music events here. The events themselves were great.
However, I’ve had 2 bad experiences with security:
1) it was really hot inside the venue, so three of us went outside. We were standing near the main entrance, not smoking or anything, and were completely out of the path of the door. The security guy came over and shouted at us to move far away, or he threatened, he wouldn’t let us back in. I don’t mind whatever policy they have, but shouting for no reason is just really bad customer service. He was yelling at everyone and generally pissing people off.
2) Arrived at 1:10am with prepurchased tickets. There was a ginormous line of ticket holders… why? I didn’t understand. So I went to the front. Basically, security was just extremely slow. Patting everyone down, but really doing a lousy job of it. The line barely moved until about 40 minutes later, when the event organizer got pissed and demanded that they move faster. Half the length of the line moved inside within about 5 minutes. So basically, security was just incompetently slow.
I’ll be reluctant to return. The sad thing is, I like the actual building. It’s big and works fairly well once you’re inside.

Event space, as good as any I suppose.
Try the night market from July — Oct on weds from 5 to 10pm.
You will find a few start up vendors selling snack sized delicious treats. Dips, stuffed rice balls, cheeses, spreads and desserts. A modern market for modern fare.

Came here for a Noodle festival. It was pretty big and a good spot for all the different booths to set up. There were a a few columns with little stands on them, which were a good place to put down a drink while you were eating. Could have used more of those. The set up was pretty bare bones, but it looks like it has some potential to be a really great event spot.
Didn’t have any interactions with staff and didn’t visit the bathrooms, so I can’t comment on that. Had a pretty large outside area which would be good for smokers.

Recently got the opportunity to visit the 99 Sudbury complex for a NXNE event put on by Rdio Canada. Located a block south of Queen street off of Lisgar. For those struggling to find it, its actually located very close to the Drake Hotel.
The event itself was held in the area of 99 Sudbury known as The Glass Factory, and was a lot of fun. Free drinks, all you can eat Baskin & Robbins, Kernels and Tiny Tom Donuts, paired with great Indy music and a good crowd of people made this a funtastic Friday night.
The Glass Factory is a pretty unique space for an event, its divided into two main areas connected by a doorway or sorts. Room number one (which is what we walked into initially) had an elevated bar to the left and plenty of space for mingling and networking. Bathrooms are towards the rear of this room just past a secondary bar (which was closed for this event) — could be used as a reception area for an event.
The far room was set up with a stage for the performing artists and could be used as either a dining area or a dance floor (or both) for a corporate event or wedding. Lastly the twin patios attached to each room provide a great space to take a break from your festivities, have smoke/​get some fresh air LOL.
My one complaint is the main room washrooms were out of order and the room separation really did split up the party… good for a wedding, not so good for networking or meeting new people.
I’d personally like to throw an event here one day, so keep it in mind for future ref — I know I will.

I loved this venue space for the event we were having. It worked out perfectly contracting out the entire space.
Very industrial and the space can essentially be turned into just about anything. Only odd point is the Gym attached to the venue. Makes it odd to get around from the Gallery to the Glass Factory areas. All in all great experience though. The staff is excellent and very accomodating!

This gym has a nice idea but it really needs to focus on whether its a gym or an event/​club place. Its awkward to navigate through the long maze of halls and the customer service is lacking and there isnt even any air conditioning. For a gym that is a huge deal. The equipment is sub-​par and the faciliity is quite small.
Not worth the money if you ask me.

I quit in July and joined the YMCA which is a couple blocks north.
For $ 10 more a month, I’m getting a ton of classes to choose from, a pool and hot tub, modern weight machines and air conditioning.
I’m so much happier.

Dreadful venue. I agree with John D. on this one. They ruined New Years Eve for me and all of my friends. Their total lack of professionalism and any sort of precautionary measures with respect to security and event planning was evident last Friday night.
The cops had to shutdown the event because the promoters (who are equally incompetent it seems) oversold the event and/​or did not provide enough security to handle what was an unseemly crowd of non-​ticket holders trying to get into the venue for the Avicii concert and the 99 Resolutions party next door.
The attempt to transition from simply a gym to an upscale social club has been all but a failure in the eyes of many who were burned by the venue’s inadequate provision of service on what was arguably their night to shine. The venue was a bizarre choice for an event of this caliber and I’m sure it has all but ruined its chances of any future success in this regard.
Two thumbs down for ruining NYE and what could have been an eventful evening for all involved!

I’ve been going to this gym for a couple of months now. Unfortunately, the place has been under construction for a VERY long time so the facilities are a little sub par due to the construction.
I’m hoping once the work is done that the place will look great — they are renovating the entire building so it should be quite a transformation when it’s complete.
I tend just to stick to the cardio machines and they are great. They each have their own TVs — and let me tell you there is nothing like watching Ellen while your pounding away on the treadmill. They also have elliptical machines, step machines, bikes and rowing machines and a ton of weight equipment. I’m also tempted to try one of their many aerobics classes just to switch up the routine.
My brother also goes to the gym, so I used him as a referral when I signed up and he got three free months and a massage, which is a pretty great deal. So if you’re gonna go, feel free to give my name :)
