My family has two Volvos. We prefer taking them to a Volvo dealership and prefer original Volvo parts. However, a simple oil change is $ 83. If something breaks, diagnostics is $ 63. In other words you walk in asking why something is broken and you’re charged $ 63 to be told is broken and it’ll be whatever price to fix it and unless you do the repair right away you might be charged another $ 63 (at least) for labour on top of the $ 63 you paid to be told what you already knew… That it was broken.
My battery had to be replaced and that, my friends, was $ 397. $ 280 for the battery and $ 63 for labour plus tax. I did some research and found the battery had close to a 50% mark up over other non Volvo branded batteries. And I’ve changed the battery before and it is not worth $ 63 in labour.
The one star is for the service advisor who was friendly and attentive and for the technician who was prompt and friendly. The staff was great. The way this dealership charges for service is not fair.

After all the days of commuting by bike I figured it’s time to get a new (well new to me) car. Volvo of Surrey have put me in my new SUV, or otherwise known as «The Climate Changer».
I’m not a fan of dealing with car salesmen, I might be related to some, it doesn’t mean I have to enjoy them but Volvo of Surrey were easy to deal with.
Located in the north surrey auto mall (it should be named the «Jim Pattison auto mall»), it is relatively close to the highway and other dealers if you want to compare.
The sales team were not very pushy on their products and when I decided on the purchase their attention to detail on delivery was fantastic.
Like all car dealerships the service department can be a different experience all together, I did not have to deal with service so perhaps an updated review will be in the future here.
