Citrus-O Carpet Care

We’ve used Citruso four times without complaint. Always been very pleased. Until this last time. We asked for an early morning appointment and were told «no problem». We were called the morning of the appointment at 8AM and were told the technician would be by our place between 8:30 and 9:00AM. At 10:00AM, a technician shows up and sits out front of our place for 15 minutes smoking. When he finally comes to the door, he can barely even get a «hello» out. Obviously in a mood, he literally stomps through our place without uttering a word. He chucks his card on a table and we see his name is Dennis. Well Dennis… never again. You were miserable to deal with and the job you did was completely lacking in skill. The streaks on our carpet from you not being methodical with the machine felt deliberate because you were in a bad mood. It had nothing to do with us. You arrived that way and took out your issues on our carpet… which we paid another company to rectify. So long.

The service was ok, but since then the company has been harassing me with phone calls and emails. I’ve asked repeatedly for them to stop and they still continue. I will never use this company again because of their annoying cold calls and blatant disregard for my request to be removed from their call/​email list. I’ve unsubscribed from their emails myself and they just keep coming.

The cleaning was fine (I used them about 2 years ago). I am not exaggerating at all when i say they have called me more than 50 times since then. If you ignore the calls (like I usually do) they call back almost every day during work hours. I eventually get fed up and take one of the call and ask them to take me off their list. I don’t even live in a place with carpets now. This request has been ignored at least 6 times and they keep on calling. It’s like being in the movie Groundhog Day. Unless you want constant harassment on the phone, I would NEVER use this company for anything.

I asked this company for an estimate for a carpet cleaning on the main floor of my home (hallway and living /​dining area). I gave them the square foot area of carpet that needed cleaning.
I got back an email saying they don’t work in square feet, they need to know how many rooms, and a dining table (you guessed!) means that it’s an ‘extra’ room.
I sat on that estimate for a couple of weeks, since a table adding a room added about $ 100, and noticed that I was getting a lot of unknown numbers calling me from Surrey. We’re talking about ten calls from four different numbers.
I therefore took a look on Google, and — guess what! — all these numbers were listed on nuisance call forums as belonging to Citrus O.
So, I don’t recommend giving these people your number. I’ve emailed since to let them know I’m aware that they’ve been nuisance-​calling me, and asking them to stop, and since then, they seem to have desisted. I’m not holding my breath.
Not a good experience.

While the carpet «technician» Roberto Mandarino (yes that was on his business card) was extremely friendly and professional at first glance, we left the apartment to let him do his thing, and when we came back nothing had changed. The carpet was completely uncleaned; no removed spots, not even a citrus-​y smell. He simply did not do his job. Very disappointing. I want a refund!

Awful. A-​W-​F-​U-​L.
I moved into a 2-​year old apartment in August, and the carpet needed cleaning. It was unclear what the stains were, but it was obvious that a professional needed to come in. When the representative from CItrus-​O arrived, he stated that the stains were from a dog (interesting, as my lease states that no pets are allowed.).
He warned that the treatment may not get rid of the stains, but that it would be worth «giving it a go». Well — he gave it a go, and after 2 hours of spraying chemicals and steaming my carpet (which by the way, was not left with a «fresh orange scent» as they advertise), he left, saying that the results would be apparent within 24 hours when the carpet is completely dry.
I wish I could post pictures here — My light grey carpet, which had 4 medium-​sized stains, is now COMPLETELY TIE-​DYED with neon pink splotches, wherever the technician sprayed his «completely natural» «pH neutral» product.
Now I can appreciate that the previous tenant may have used chemicals that weren’t right for the job, but shouldn’t Citrus-​O move forward with caution (especially since I was 100% honest about the situation, saying that I knew nothing of the previous tenant?).
They have since sent out two more technicians (taking approximately 2 weeks between each visit, in spite of multiple calls and emails requesting a sooner visit).
Now they have concluded that because the previous tenant used a cleaner on her carpet (WHO WOULDN’T?!), that they are not responsible whatsoever.
Lets review.
–Call Citrus-​O
–They see animal stains, and say lets give it a go
–After treatment, carpet is 1000x worse than when they started
–I’m now shit out of luck.
Avoid at all costs.

I am sitting in my newly cleaned home, MIND BLOWN.
Scott did an excellent job! He was at my house for 2 HOURS making sure he got all the stains out of my living room, dining room and bedroom carpets. I wish I had taken some before and after pictures, ’cause words cannot express what a great job he did.
As Scott explained, as of last January 2012, Citrus-​O became a non-​franchised company. This may have made all the difference, because Scott did not try to upsell me, and in fact, when I mentioned I wanted to use the card machine since I had no cash on me to give him a tip, he said not to worry about it. Wha?
I am SO inspired to keep my house clean now. No one better set foot on my carpets with food or drink or there will be hell to pay!:P

If I had the option to give Citrus-​O zero stars, I would.
As stated in my initial Unilocal review, I was supremely disappointed with the horrible job they did *and* with the added charges after being quoted a flat rate with «no hidden fees,» so I e-​mailed the company to express my disappointment.
For the last month I’ve been engaged in a series of back-​and-​forth e-​mails, constantly being promised that I’ll receive a partial refund and being offer profuse apologies for the the misrepresentation and delay with the refund.
To make a long story short, each promise of a refund was later met with essentially a «sorry — maybe we can get it to you this way» response. After it was suggested that I either receive a cheque, take the time to meet with the franchisee (to whom the job was farmed out) or to re-​provide my Visa number via e-​mail — none of which panned out — I put my foot down.
For weeks the company was «passing the buck» in terms of responsibility, eventually stating that my «issue was between the customer and the technician» and that Citrus-​O would not be making a further effort to resolve the matter.
I’m usually a very forgiving customer — especially when it’s simply misinformation at the root of the problem. However, when all is said and done, this issue is about principle and a company’s integrity and not about a $ 40 refund. After Citrus-O’s final e-​mail, I promptly reported the company to the Better Business Bureau.
Consider yourselves warned…

My neighbour has used this company a number of times and she said that the carpets and house smell great after the carpets have been cleaned and she’s right!
Actually, I have no complaints about the quality of work as the carpets were cleaned thoroughly and the house did smell great for 48 hours or so. My problem was the sales pitch at the end and when we refused further products, services and such other than a high traffic area to be scotch guarded, the guy performing the cleaning (and sales pitch) got down right rude and obnoxious. I paid for the service, he did the one area of scotch guarding and essentially slammed out of our house.
If I were to guess, the technician makes more commission if he sells more services? All I know is that I was given a quote and told nothing about the fact that my husband and I would be pressured to buy additional treatments when the guy was done doing what he was hired to do.
So, Citrus-​o, you lost me as a customer and will not refer anyone. I would rate lower just because the guy was a total ass at the end but he did do a good job.
