A great place to have a beer with the locals! Best wings in Stratford too. Old english style pub with live music on Friday and Saturday evening. The service is friendly, varied menu to meet anyone’s craving, and a wide selection of craft beer. Sometimes gets a little noisy, but all around, great experience.

This place was lovely! We stopped here en route to our B&B in Stratford amidst a –35 degree blizzard, so the warmth and comfort was most appreciated! The pub has a lovely, cosy community feel about it. It was great seeing and listening to the locals chat over their pints on a lazy Saturday afternoon. It also seemed that the pub wasn’t deliberately trying to be an ‘Irish’ pub or a ‘British’ pub, it just was what it was — a small local pub in a quiet town. The food was great. I had the veggie burger and my boyfriend had the steak and fries. He adored his meal and kept pestering me to return to the pub over the weekend so he could have it again. My veggie burger was black-bean based and although it suffered from the dryness most veggie burgers do, it was flavourful, well-portioned and the accompanying garlic aioli added the necessary juiciness to it. The side salad was fresh and crispy and the vinaigrette was noticeably good! The prices were amazing and noticeably cheaper than in Toronto. The pop came in pint-sized servings — great value here. Service was good. We would definitely return.

After seeing Tommy and then a walk in the park, Gord and I had supper this evening at the Boar’s Head Pub. We’ve been there before and have liked it. It was such a nice day(warm and sunny) so we sat on the patio. I ordered a Pulled Pork Sandwich(minus lettuce and onions) and fries. It came with cheese, which I thought was odd but then I discovered that instead of ordering me a side of gravy, our server ordered cheese instead. It’s the first time I’ve had the pulled pork sandwich there and it was good. The pork was really tender. I’d get it again. Gord ordered the Corn Fried Chicken Sandwich(which no tomatoes or red pepper jelly) and onion rings. He said it was good and would order it again. Joel was our server and took good care of us.

A friend and I stopped here on our way through Stratford. We were just expecting a regular, run of the mill pub, but we were pleasantly surprised! When you enter, you see a nice, clean, comfortable pub. The seating is ample and the staff is friendly, but the food is what really got me! I had bangers and mash(a pub fav of mine) and my friend had the veggie and cashew stir fry. The mashed potatoes were hand mashed with little bacon surprises throughout(and real bacon, no artificial stuff here) the sausages were local and amazing! The stir fry had a fantastic mix of veggies(which were my side as well!) and the maple glaze was as my friend put it «the best thing she had ever tasted»(no joke, she said it more than once). The meal was also very inexpensive, we almost had a ‘start the car moment’(remember that Ikea commercial?) since it seemed that food that good couldn’t be that cheap!
