C is for Cookies and Cupcakes

In the heart of downtown St. Catherines and a stone’s throw from City Hall, we dropped in on this little cupcake shop while making a pit stop on the way home towards Toronto. Our family and I were actually just cruising around in the car when we spotted a sandwich board pointing out the fact that it was one of the few shops open on Easter Friday.
Craving something sweet, this seemed like the perfect place to stop for a mid-​day snack. The petite cupcakes here go for $ 1.50 a pop or you can get a half dozen for $ 8. It’s a bare bones sort of shop that is focused more on catering — no bar stools or chairs to sit — but quaintly decorated and inviting.
My mom had the lemon and the rest of my family opted for regular vanilla cakes. I only tasted the cocoa mini cupcake — the icing wasn’t as dense and creamy as I prefer. However, there was a nice sharp coffee kick to it. Sadly, the fact that food costs have increased the past few years means that cupcakes have shrunk. While I thought our snacks hit the spot, they seemed a bit TOO small for my liking; I could probably have shoved 4 of them in one bite!
