Very decent food. Fresh and tasty. Downside is its always crowded with people so very noisy. Reservation helps to get a table faster but yes you still have to wait. Overall one of the best places to have dimsum in Vancouver. If u get there before 11 they have specials, if u go after 12 without reservation on weekends I say don’t bother it’ll be over an hour wait. Five stars for the food. Don’t expect much from service.

I remembered coming here once for one of the family member’s 90th birthday. As a result, we had to go to this restaurant to celebrate the restaurant. I would always be reading newspaper ads about this restaurant and seeing how good this place is with their shark fins and abalone and their«luxurious dishes.» So why not give this place some thoughts. In my humble opinion, it is just overhyped to be honest. The wok energy was not good enough for the meal overall. I mean, I can honestly compare this restaurant to any other Chinese seafood restaurant in Vancouver…

The cook knows how to use the wok beautifully. I tried their chowfun with shrimp sauce and you can taste the nuttiness and toasty flavor of the stir friend chow fun noodles with the velvety and tasty sauce. Their rock cod with tofu rivals Mui Garden. A great find in Richmond.

We mostly came here for dim sum and it is pretty good. Recently we attended my cousin wedding banquet dinner and the food is very impressive. They brought out the best of the best from the menu.

The servers HATE their jobs so much that they will scream at customers and throw food in your face. When we got there there were many empty tables but somehow it still took a long time to get seated. When asked for hot sauce, a female server curtly replied«i don’t know, go ask waiter». Later, another server brought up a dish that we didn’t order. We told her we didn’t order it and it wasn’t even written on our order list, and she insisted that it is on her list and we must take the dish. She kept arguing with us until a supervisor came by and told her to take it away. The next time she brought our food she threw it down on the table and bulged her eyes out, and screamed«THISISYOURSRIGHT?!?». This type of treatment was intolerable. I flagged down a supervisor to complain about her, and the supervisor suddenly turned red and acted as though he was having a mental breakdown, threw his hands up saying«you know we are so so so so busy, i don’t have time to deal with your complaint. You see? all these customers? we so busy, we don’t talk about service right now» and left. That was the first time I left a $ 0 tip. UNBELIEVABLE.

WORSTWORST Service EVER!!! We asked to order another dish, and they sent us the bill! And it’s only 10mins since we started eating!!! They even charge $ 1.2PERPERSON for plain water!!! Food are worse than 2 years ago, dish sizes become smaller while the prices go up! Will never come back again. So disappointed.

Terrible service with long wait and bad attitude. Tables are too closed to each other. Food… average.

Terrible service. We made reservation but when we got there, we still have to wait. It was the end of the lunch time so the server seems very impatient, urged us to order several times. And when we asked whether we can cook our 4.5 lobster in 2 different ways he answered it’s too small to do that in a contemptuous tone. The food is ok, but I don’t think it’s worthy to pay this price for that kind of service.

Shortest waiting time out for walk in dim sum restaurants in Richmond. Loved the atmosphere and food, would definitely come again in the future!

Horrible service. We made a reservation for 12pm and there can be an expected wait time but a 50 min wait… Are they serious. What the heck are reservations for when they don’t keep it. It was pretty pathetic and the only reason they gave us was«a table was paying soon». This restaurant deserves 0⁄5 for its service. Bad management as well — didn’t apologize and just argued back when we told them we made a reservation at 12pm.

I really enjoyed having Dim Sum at this venue. We had siu mai, plain rice rolls, pork rice roll, chicken feet, durian sweets, mango pudding, steamed egg yolk buns, and items that I can´t remember. The place was packed, luckily our friends booked a table the day before. The servers are not extremely friendly but I think that is a common thing when you go to dim sum places. We´ll come back!

4.5 The only dim sum restaurant I willingly go to. My mom has been trying to get me to like dim sum since around 07′, but it has been regrets every single time: until I tired this place. I can’t pin point what it is about about this restaurant, but I’ve been twice so far, and while I leave other(and I truly mean any and every other) dim sum place with a sad face and vow to never have dim sum again, this place satisfies my durian and lobster cravings. #Richmondneverdisappoints

There is a 20% discount if you put down your order by 11am– which we promptly missed by 7 minutes. Nevertheless, I had high hopes for this place and was looking forward to the food. The shrimp dumpling was huge– big piece of shrimp with lots of flavor. Beef ball was only ok, very bland. Chicken feet was very good– big portion and cooked so tender. The egg white scallop fried rice was a little on the dry side but still very good. Service was less than stellar to at the least. No one was available when we wanted some sauce to dip in, since nothing was provided at all in the first place. Took another ten min to flag someone down to pay. Dim sum places are normally very attentive with super fast service. Really have no desire to come back again based on this.

One summer when in college I took an astronomy class and had to track the inclination of the sun at various times throughout the day. I chose to do this project in the parking lot at Neptune Sharkfin Seafood Restaurant. So while I bask in the sun, with a toilet plunger’s stick creating a nice shadow, I noticed a steady stream of patrons in and out of the restaurant. By the end of the morning, Dim Sum was almost up so I decided to run in while I had the chance! Boy am I glad I did! Neptune Sharkfin was better than any Dim Sum I’d had in Seattle! The variety of my favorites was endless: taro root, lotus curd, egg tart, steamed BBQ pork bun, and shrimp ball to name a few. Adding to the experience was of course, Sharkfin soup! Nearly 5-star service, amazingly in an authentic Cantonese establishment, with table linens and formal flatware. Additionally, the giant crab tanks I found quite sedating adding to the overall stellar experience. I’ve been back many times! 13 years later and still my favorite restaurant in Richmond!

Neptune is actually located right next to another restaurant by the same name. They serve dim sum here and next door is an authentic Hong Kong style noodle shop. I came here on Saturday after some epic and inexperienced fails at nearby Kirin. Wait for a party of one wasn’t too bad — probably fifteen minutes max. I sat down and got the following dishes: pork siu mai, durian pastry puffs, XO sauce fried radish cake, and a pork liver rice roll. Oops I might have overordered but I was also starving! The menu here is very extensive and if I had come with a large party there would have been more I’d want to try! The siu mai came out first. It had fish roe on top. This wasn’t the cheap kind. I could taste them sort of pop and crunch in my mouth. The actual meat of the siu mai was very on point. The pork wasn’t overly fatty, which is a problem at many dim sum places. It was slightly elastic, which is the telltale sign of a good dim sum chef. All in all I was pretty impressed. The rice roll came out next. I wish here that the liver had been cut into thinner pieces. It also wasn’t the best liver I’ve had and there was nothing special about the actual rice roll itself. Nothing stood out about this dish unfortunately. What was cool about the XO sauce radish cake is that it came out in an edible nest. Light, airy, and flaky — it definitely made the dish more fun. The actual radish cake was also pretty good and the XO sauce packed a slight kick. Finally while not everyone is a fan of durian, I am! I ended the meal with three rather small sized durian puff pastries. They were also decent. What I noticed here is that all of the fried dishes I had didn’t taste very heavy or oily. Sure, you can’t get away from frying something without any oil, but compared to other dim sum joints I had in CA, this tasted relatively light. Service: lots of men walking around eager to help you. The food comes out carried by lots of women. With all the people running around, you rarely have to flag someone down and the place seems surprisingly not so chaotic. Bottom line: perhaps not on the same uniqueness as Kirin, but Neptune offers decent dim sum and an expansive menu.

There was a line up out the door by 10:30am on a Sunday. Luckily, we only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated for a table of two. Dim sum was well made. There is plenty of choices to choose from. The lobster and noodles was our favourite. Service was average. It was not bad but it was not amazing. Staff cleared plates as they made their rounds.

We showed up on a Sunday afternoon before 1, and the place was packed. When we asked for a table, the hostess said that they didn’t have any available. After insisting that she put our name down, she finally said that the wait was 40 minutes. Luckily, we decided to wait, since it was only 10 minutes before they called our name. The restaurant itself is decently sized. Although not as fancy as a Kirin or a Shanghai River, it still was relatively nice, without being gaudy like at Rainflower. Since I can only speak Chinese, I liked the fact that the menu is written in both Chinese and in English, and it has some pictures on it. We decided to order: Shu mai: these were good, with big pieces of shrimp mixed in with the pork Steamed tripe: I normally don’t like tripe, but these were good: steamed, with a nice ginger taste. Steamed BBQ pork buns: just ok Egg tarts: these were really good. It is hard to describe, but it tasted like a cross between a Chinese and a French pastry: one of the best that I have had. Lobster dumplings: you get 4 for $ 9. There is some lobster flavor, but it is mostly filled with shrimp(pass next time). Chinese donut wrapped in rice roll: it was ok. There isn’t any filling in these(the fish-filled ones at Kirin is my favorite version of this type of dim sum). Bok choy in consumme: this was good, but at $ 9, probably a pass next time as well. Shrimp-stuffed eggplant: really good, and they were huge. Overall, Neptune is a good choice for dim sum in Richmond. It isn’t my favorite place, but I would put them in the same group as Kirin, Sun Sui Wah and Fisherman’s Terrace if you are trying to decide on a dim sum place.

At first I was going to give 5 stars, but then I skimmed over the other comments and I found many points… to be true. First of all, this is a VERY popular restaurant. There have been times where I have reserved a table for 12:00, and ended up waiting until 12:25 before being seated! But I think this shows how amazing the food is here. Anyways, as mentioned in other reviews, this is a very pricey restaurant, comparable to Jade and Kirin. We usually spend around $ 18-$ 22 per person here for dim sum depending on how much we eat, but I feel like that price is justified by the freshness and quality of their dishes. Their siu mai is the best! Even though my family is from Hong Kong and we go back there every year, we still feel like Neptune’s siu mai is one of the best! We haven’t tried the 3-star michelin dim sums in Hong Kong for $ 50CND+ yet, but this place is serious comparable to the top Cantonese restaurants in Hong Kong! Their«zha lern», chinese donut wrapped in rice roll noodle, is the best that I’ve ever had in Vancouver and I order it every time! Lastly, their desserts are very intricate and delicious. My favourite dessert would be the Osmanthus jelly(gwei fah goh). Now… I honestly don’t know how to describe what Osmanthus is, but it’s this extremely fragrant health bolstering flower found in Asia, which is used in many traditional Cantonese dishes. The flavour is very unique and the dessert is delicate, refreshing, and cleans your palate. Sometimes if we aren’t full, we will order a heavier dessert after this. Anyways, you should definitely try out this restaurant if you’re in Richmond because their dim sum is as authentic as it gets! You WILL need to make reservations though because I have heard of people waiting over an hour for a table as walk-in guests.

My girlfriends and I didn’t go back to this restaurant after they renovated. I found negative comments more than positive on other sites review. We made the rsvn at 12.30pm and waited for few mins then got seated. I found they have quite a lot of dim sims but absolutely overpriced! S-3.68, M-4.38, L-5.38, SK-6.38, SLK-7.98, SKK-8.98. You may only find 1 – 2 items are $ 3.68 and most of items are $ 5.38 even more. Deep fried Chicken knees w/wasabi — it’s so greasy and the wasabi looked like so artificial coz fluorescence color. Steamed Black truffle mushroom dumpling — Only mixed mushroom dumplings, there is NO black truffle mushroom inside. Steamed salted egg yolk custard bun– Buns were so big and egg yolk was bland. Beef tripe and tender pot — It didn’t look good but taste good. Steamed beef balls — Very soft and probably marinated with baking power! Short ribs and pork liver rice roll pot — Super greasy!!! I only had a rice roll and it’s oily! This is regular dim sum place, such quality of food and poor service. I will not recommend this place at all.
