Milltown Bar & Grill

Visited first time last week for a quick drink and to check it out. Went back tonight for dinner and it is amazing how busy this was was both times especially given its unique location. Three of us had the Sunday night prime rib dinner which was great value (though rare not medium rare as we were told). Another had a burger that looked great and was deemed to be delicious. We sat inside to watch the hockey game though I would have preferred outside as the noise level is quite high. Both times we found all the staff to be very efficient and friendly. Kids are allowed and 1^st time there were a lot of them including a kids hockey team. Would probably prefer it to be similar to the Flying Beaver where kids are restricted to certain hours/​sections. Will definitely go back.

3.5 stars. This is my 2^nd visit to Milltown — went for Prime Rib dinner on Sunday at 5pm this time. We got a table right away, but the place filled up very quickly.
For $ 13.95, you can’t get a cheaper prime rib dinner elsewhere. However, because we arrived early to ensure we’d have a table, it seems as though they may have plated the meals before hand, because the meal was at best, luke warm. And the yorkshire pudding was already super soggy for my plate, hidden under the gravy and prime rib; but the others had better plating, and their yorkshire pudding was separate from the prime rib.
The fried brussel sprouts, ordered as an additional side, as well as the pizza entrée ordered (by someone not wanting prime rib) were much warmer in temperature. The brussel sprouts are my real reason for coming to Milltown. I like brussel sprouts anyway, but having them fried brings a whole new taste experience!
Overall good food, and great prices for specials (Sunday is also Drafts on special). And service was attentive despite how busy it was.
One point of confusion is whether Milltown takes reservations. When I called for my 1^st visit, we were told «yes» for parties of 6 or more. But when my brother called to book a reservation for a party of 6 last month, he was told there are no reservations for prime rib night. When I came on Sunday, tons of tables had «reserved» signs on them.
Will be interested in coming back to try their other specials.

Good casual spot. Seems family friendly with kids running around. I would return to Milltown.

Its like the sister company of Flying Beaver.
Located in a place that’s completely random. It’s right across the other side of the water from mcarthur glen landing outlets and under the Arthur Liang bridge in Vancouver but its considered Richmond.
Lots of Parking Wings Wednesday is 59cents each its a hit and miss just deep fried chicken wings topped with sauce. its self seating the environment is a nice kick back place and the interior is really nice. I honestly still prefer the food at flying beaver though.
FYI: On Wings Wednesday must get a drink and cant take it to go if there are leftovers over 5 I think something like that.

Kind of «off the beaten path» place. Certainly casual, but the food (fish and chips & also the goat cheese appetizer) were amazing. Service was also casual, but extremely friendly and pleasant. A great overall experience.

Second time going to this restaurant and it was an ok experience. We ordered the tuna poke with wonton chips and it was good. The only problem was lack of wonton chips as compared to the amount of tuna mixer. We asked for additional chips and was charged for them which seemed silly as they really didn’t come with enough to begin with. The service was ok, our waitress seemed to have too many tables as she didn’t offer to refill my soda. Having said that, she did help us with all of our requests which was good. We also ordered the Cajun halibut burger and fries which as good. Not sure if I would go out of my way to go back here…

Drink is mediocre but atmosphere is awesome. Will revisit often. Lots of college kids come here. I feel like I am in the states here. Love it.

Went here for Wing Wednesday with some friends. Solid drink specials and $ 0.50 wings after 5pm. Our server was nice enough to tell us, as soon as we sat down, that if we were getting wings, we all had to get a drink — didn’t have to be an alcoholic beverage but it had to be something that wasn’t water (juice, pop, etc.).
We got a pound of every flavour. Recommendation: Don’t get the teriyaki. It’s gross.
We also got some fries which I was impressed came with a side of gravy. That is, until I tried the gravy. Also gross. Kind of tasted like carnation milk. One friend said it tasted like canned mushroom soup. That being said, the rest of the wings were good and the service was awesome. I’ll be back.

Ordered the Monday night $ 12.50 beer and burger special and nachos. It’s a good place for a beer or two, food is sub-​standard and service is slow. Enjoying the location and atmosphere.

No joke. This place is happening. Coming here at night in the darkness was a bit of a trip, but the place was almost completely packed at only 5pm on a Sunday evening as a testament to how popular it is. A lot of families and friends. Good vibes in general. Every so often, there would be random cheering when friends would show up for the party.
Good food. Massive, ridiculous portions for the price. The Sunday prime rib dinner special is a steal at $ 13.95. The nachos were the biggest I’ve ever seen for a «small». I can’t even imagine how big the «large» would be.
Beers are mostly Okanagan Springs. The beer specials were good at $ 4.50 or so for a solid 20 oz pint.
Indoor seating is pretty limited. The dual patios nearly double the seating area, but they are closed at night. Definitely worth coming during a sunny day for the views of the airport and water.

Came here for wings Wednesday. It was my first time here… the place looks very nice and new inside and out with large patio space for the summertime. The place was packed and we had to wait for our table for 9 people altho we already made a reservation. I was surprised at how all their staff were so attentive, saying hello and greeting us every time they passed by us and came to our table asking how we were doing. We ordered every flavor on the menu which included: honey garlic, hot, salt & pepper, Thai chilli, teriyaki and dry and the wings were decent sized. Taste was ok only but I gave 4 stars for their exceptional service, We had beer, pop and wings and the bill was 130 $ for the 9 of us including tax and tip. 50 cents for pop refill. The inside décor was very nice looking, warm and cozy! Lots of parking available in parking lot.

This place is nice to enjoy with friends. The food is decent. The service is great. Their pizza is NOT greasy which I love.

The Fish and Chips were great, the view was spectacular, so a sunny day head on down the this little known marina and be prepared for a true hidden gem of Vancouver. The selection of craft brews is excellent and on Friday and Saturday nights they do a shuttle bus so you don’t have to worry about driving. Awesome!

Hubby got the prime rib Sunday special. I got the tug boat burger. Both delicious and our almost 1 year old son agreed. The fresh cut fries were also really good.
A little pricey but not like some places where you pay 12 bucks for a burger and don’t get fries or anything else.
They had a lot of workers though so it seemed like right when we would finish something they would swoop in before you could even say anything. Not a bad thing, better than when there’s too many workers that just sit around and talk. But keep that in mind, this is a bar and grill not a place to have a quiet conversation.

Beef in both of our burgers had kind of bad taste and smell.
I have no idea what it is, but noticed that it is quite common that food has this type of smell and taste in Vancouver.
The price is not so cheap here and we get this quality of food…

Ordered the Quinoa Burger and found that it was very much on the «meh» side of things flavour wise… The fries were nice and crispy, though I’m not sure if that made up for having to wait between 35 – 40 minutes for our food to come. Our server was quite inattentive as well as the only times we saw him was when we ordered our eats and when it was time to pay the bill. Probably won’t becoming back.
They do have a nice view of the Fraser River, the Designer Outlet, and the Airport though!

I recently went here with a friend. Unfortunately the weather was bad so our plans for sitting on the patio were kiboshed.
It’s got a very rustic wooden ambiance. It felt like I was in some other small city or town lol. It was cool though, definitely no need to dress up. Super casual.
The best thing about my visit was the customer service. My waitress was amazing. She was super attentive and knew how to recommend a good beer. Believe it or not I run into alot of waitresses that serve beer but couldn’t recommend a good one to save their life. She asked what beers I usually drink and then recommended one for me. She brought me out a tester and boom… I am now a fan of Blanche de Chambly!
The food was ok. I ordered the fish and chips and found the fish to be too battered.
They had live music on Friday which was nice but too loud. I came to catch up with a friend, so I found it to be too loud. Sorry, am I being a grandma? lol
I would def give this place another shot. It’s kind of out of the way so public transit is a crappy option.

Came here for brunch yesterday because I live in Richmond and friends were in Burnaby. It’s sort of in between. It’s located on an island belonging to Richmond but you can only access it from Vancouver.
Ordered the Breakfast Pizza because the menu tells you to try it at least once. It’s basically eggs and cheese on a pizza crust. Very. Filling. I usually can eat a lot, but not when it’s the first meal of the day. I would have trouble finishing it on my own. It’s quite tasty, great to share, and definitely have to try at least once, or actually just once. I don’t think I’ll order it again just because it’s much too filling and will be an automatic food coma also.
On top of that also had the brussels sprouts. I’m not a fan of them in general, but when you deep fry it and add bacon and cheese, anything can be delicious. Highly recommended.
Service was great, food is well above average. Only downside was the food did rather long to arrive and I wish there were some umbrellas on the patio. But nevertheless easy 4 stars, will definitely be back. Best pub in the area hands down.

[Marinaside Monday]
I had never heard of this place until I received a 20% off coupon in my mailbox. The first thing that I noticed was the location — it was on the corner of Dark-​Alley Drive and Middle-​of-​Nowhere Road. After entering through a chain-​link fence, an unlit, deserted, meandering road took us around the marina before leading up to the restaurant. There was no one around I was worried more about axe-​wielding psychopaths than finding the restaurant.
When we finally arrived, I was greeted by a quaint yet lively pub-​style restaurant. Seating is self-​serve and with enough tables for 100 guests. I perused the menu and decided on the Halibut burger and fries. This turned out to be the best decision I’ve made all week. The fish was tender and moist. The aioli and peach salsa added a little different flavor to it — not something you’d expect but in a good way. Portion sizes are also excellent. I was fairly hungry and walked away with my hollow legs filled. I opted against any drinks as I had work the next day but their drink selection was pretty standard. For $ 15 (pre-​coupon), I’d say this is pretty decent value. Service here is also excellent. Our server was friendly and kept popping by to check on us.
I can see this place being quite popular in the summer time. They’ve got 2 patios (one on each side) and big windows that open up inside a nice new building. Given the fact it was a weekday in November, the place was at least 60% full so I suspect it does well on weekends. I enjoyed my meal here and I can see a return visit in the future.

I’m moving from Gastown, where you can pretty much hit up any block and find a cool place to eat, to Marpole, which is decidedly less foodie-​friendly. I am taking it as a personal challenge to find new neighbourhood gems. I’ve started making lists of places in Marpole to try, and Milltown was high on the list. Today my parents and I went for a sunny Sunday brunch and it was delightful.
Perched on the river and surrounded by marinas on both sides, Milltown has a great view of the airport for aviation buffs. There are outdoor eating areas on the airport and marina sides which will be fantastic in the summer. There is also plenty of parking and bike racks, if you feel so inclined. Inside there are hightops, booths, tables and a large bar, and the place is flooded with light. There are also fireplaces to keep things cozy.
The place was busy but not packed and we were able to get seated immediately. The brunch menu is more lunch-​y than breakfasty, and there’s a definite emphasis on seafood. Lotsa fish.
I had the Breakfast Pizza: a hand tossed crust featuring two runny poached eggs (just the way I like ‘em), Parmesan, basil and hollandaise (not too much). It is fantastic — and rich! I could only eat 2 pieces out of 6.
My mom had a traditional breakfast and said her poached eggs were perfect. The sausage had a little bit of a spicy kick to it — might be housemade? It was yums. Milltown only serves multigrain toast, which I thought was interesting — I do like me some sourdough with brunch.
Service was good, nothing that blew you away but friendly and efficient. I think every staff member greeted us on our way in and out — my dad remarked that it was almost like going to an izakaya, which I thought was funny.
Glad to know that this place is in the new ‘hood — seems like it would be a good place for date night, or for any casual dinner out.
