Kal Tire

I took my car to get 1 tire repaired of a small leak. They took the tire off the rim and told me the sidewall was fucked and could not be be repaired. I was basically forced to buy a new tire from them. They also told me they will not put air back in the tire. I basically told them to fuck right off and put the tire back on the rim and dropped the car back down. They managed to fill only a little bit of air in the tire so they don’t have liability issue with fucked up rims. I managed to get BCAA to fill some air. I went to a place in Surrey and they took the tire off and checked the tire without taking the tire off rim. They knew right away the tire was a goner. They did not force me to buy a tire. From a liability issue this is totally understandable. Managed to get two tires changed at Country Tire in Surrey. If they were honest at first they may have got my business. Stay the fuck away from this place. They think we are jackasses.

I have been going to Kaltire in Main Street and have nothing but praises for that branch.
However I can’t say the same for the Richmond Centre branch. I should’ve read the reviews first!
Yesterday, I noticed my tire pressure gauge light up. When I called my Toyota dealership, the earliest appointment I got was next Thurs… So what’s a girl to do?
I was meeting a girlfriend that same day to go shopping in Richmond Centre when I noticed Kaltire by Sears, I decided to walk in. I forgot the guy’s name but he had this Eastern European accent. He said he can squeeze me in. I honestly told him I didn’t know which wheel was losing air. He said he’ll check and be done in an hour and a half.
After 2.5 of walking around the mall I went back only to find out he said my tire was «beyond repair.» Going into a spiel on how I needed to change all the tires of my 4wd, etc etc.
Having been suckered in the past by other mechanics (see previous Midas review), I told him I’ll get a second opinion. My tires were only a year old from Costco USA so I did not want to fork more $$ as much as possible!
Well, guess what? My trustworthy mechanic was able to repair the tire!

My girlfriend brought the truck out here because she was running some other errands in Richmond. They fit her in without an appointment and changed the tires on time and on budget. This was pretty good considering it was right after the first snow and lots of people needed snow tires put on.
Then they tried to get her to have the front brake pads replaced because they were down to 5% !!! Also the callipers are shot and probably need new rotors too. I told her to bring the truck back and I’ll take it to our regular mechanic because it was tune up time anyways.
He pulled the wheels then called me to ask why I thought I would need new pads, and I told him it was what Kal Tire recommended. Well he said you have way more than 50% left on the pads and callipers and rotors look good too.

Have been here some time ago for a slow leak repair and they didn’t charge me — awesome!
Recently we called the day before to book our Ford Ranger in for snow tires and were able to make an appointment for the next day, no worries.
Service was good and friendly and they wrapped our all seasons for us to store over the winter.
They also suggested that we have a full replacement on the braking system and gave a good price. However when we took the truck in to our regular mechanic to do the job he called to ask why we thought they need doing, as they were only approximately half way through their ‘lifetime’! Might be something to be aware of!

I wanted to thank Vincent and Mike for taking such good care of me when I needed an emergency tire repair. I was on my way to the hospital to see my mother who has been critically ill and and pit stop was not on my timeline for that day. They were courteous and quick to help due to my circumstances … I live in the neighborhood and am grateful.
