Horrible hospital. Doctors are nowhere to be found in the emergency department. I had abdomen pain and had to wait 6+ hours to get results. Definitely stay away from this hospital!!! They are slow and short staffed. They make you wait forever in the waiting room with only one nurse around. They NEED to hire more people.

The literal worst, and I feel like this is known among people who live in the area. The staff and nurses are terrible at communicating. They’re either super pushy or ultra apathetic and really help to make your experience awful. I am basing this on a recent stint in Emergency, but I had the same experience when I was admitted here for minor surgery in late 2007. In particular, I found the nurses to be quite absent-​minded, simply forgetting to do things like check on me or hook up more saline to my IV. Wait times in Emergency are unbelievable, honestly. Go to North York General or Branson or something and do yourself a HUGE favor.

I absolutely hate this hospital. I’ve gone here twice seeking help for depression. Both times the outcome were detrimental and a total waste of time. I avoid this hospital at all costs. I’d rather go to south lake or Markham stouffville.

By far the worst hospital in the world!!! Doctors don’t know anything. Staff members don’t know who the doctors are. They have more than enough staff. So not sure why people think they are ender staffed.
They couldn’t find a 7 mm kidney stone for 3 months.
Each time I went in for the pain they told me it «must be menstrual cramps»
One night DR YU and his staff members neglected, yelled at me, took my bed away to give to someone with a broken index finger, and when I begged them not to take my bed as I can’t sit due to 13 mm inflammation on my side… they told me that I «didn’t look like an ER case»
I was left alone, threw up so much cuz of the pain, and was neglected to the point I signed myself out and went to St. Michaels .
THANK GOD I DID THAT !!! They found the stone right away and also told me, that since Mackenzie health took forever the stone has actually travelled out of my kidney and the reason why I passed out numerous times is due to the severity of the pain. Also it has left a 18% damage as it was travelling out.
People of Richmond hill, STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM MACKENZIE HEALTH !!! IF YOU CARE FOR YOURSELF GO TO ST. MICHAEL’S !!! They have beds and a lot of friendly patient staff: no wait time and the doctors won’t dismiss you because they think it’s menstrual cramps.

I went into the ER today with my 2 year old… what an amazing hospital. I was in and out with 1 hour. I am so grateful for the amazing staff. Everyone was so helpful from the second I walked in until the time I left. I wish I could thank them all again.

different areas of hospital are generally pretty good 4 – 5 stars but ER is tough 2 – 3 stars since it is the busiest in the city so it’s always busy (after midnight– yikes!)
I gave birth there a few weeks ago, delivery room/staff=5*
post ward after delivery 3.5*
PUCC ward for infant (was there the next few days after delivery) 4*
ER (was there 8 days post delivery to get stitches restitched) 2.5*
reason being, long wait times, crowded waiting room, couldn’t sit, one nurse came into room abruptly without explaining why and rummaged the area, other nurses were fairly plesant to neutral– best part was the doctor doing stitches and nurse assisting were 5*, it’s really tough to be in the ER for anyone, but they are over crowded due to the area.

Newly opened 2^nd EMERGENCY clinic at 9401 Jane at by wonderland, short wait if at all and part of the Mackenzie hospital, they have X-​rays/​IVs and most equipment needed for emerg. Go here if instead!

Surgeons are very intelligent. Food is great. Had three chowders, vegetable, corn, and one other that was so good I’d want to drive here if it was on the cafeteria menu. The other food is great too if you eat it while it’s hot but as a patient you can’t always eat right away.
Nurses have lots of work so they may take a while but just be patient (no pun intended).

Horrible ER. Staff is so slow, wanders around like time isn’t even a factor. Brought my mom in last night with a potential blood clot and had to wait four hours before we were even seen. The nurses were rude and unprofessional. Roll their eyes when you ask for updates. Sorry but I’m not sorry that I’m worried for my mother’s life! They stand around hmming and hawwing and joking around with their coworkers, while we sat in the waiting room terrified and didn’t get into an actual hospital room until now– 24 hours later. They make so many mistakes. My mom is a nurse and has had to correct her nurses several times for her own medical issues!!! Not to mention the place is NOISY. They use machines that give off signals every two seconds, so the entire place sounds like an arcade or a mcdonalds kitchen. It’s horrid. Some good doctors here, I will say, but I am not pleased with the emergency room staff and the way in which they conduct themselves.

I was not here at MacKenzie Health for Emergency ward so I did not wait for hours in the waiting area.
Parking was such a pain though. They really need to have a sign showing that the short term parking lot is full and direct traffic to the other lot. I was circling around in a smallish lot for the longest time until I talked to one of the securities that suggested I tried other lots.
At least now I know not to waste my time trying to find parking there.

I had to take my son to emergency room last week. We spend 6 hours in waiting room before the doctor showed up to help us. His English was so bad that I had to ask him repeat everything two or three times… My husband is American and he was always telling me that we are lucky to have free healthcare. Well, if this is what our «free» healthcare means, I would much rather prefer a paid one.

Worked here for 5 yrs its filthy and full of uneducated doctors, if you are part of the staff yuppy for you, you will only have to wait for 2 hours, if not then wait there for 4 – 6 hour before some one will see you.

So this is the review of our recent emergency visit to York Central Hospital. I won’t bore you with the details of it, but the main thing is that the visit itself was very peasant. The staff at this hospital is great, all from the triage nurse, reception staff, doctors and attending nurses treat you with respect and try to cheer you up. Our doctor Dr. Darryl Gebien was very friendly, did not keep us waiting for long, he listened to our complains and ordered the necessary tests right away, he then explained us the preliminary diagnosis and let he nurse take care of the tests. The tests and the x-​rays are uploaded into the online system so results are available fast. And once that was done and the doctor’s diagnosis confirmed we received all the necessary prescriptions and Dr. Gebien even made us an appointment with a suggested specialist doctor for a follow up. Overall I am very impressed with the service we received at York Central. And if the doc really thought that it was ridiculous for us to come to the emergency he did not show a slightest sign of it.
P. S. The busiest time in the emergency is evening and night from Friday to Saturday, that’s when all the drunk and feisty come in, so beware.
