Les Chateaux Bakery

I had a hankering for Mango mousse cake and decided to give this bakery a shot. I’ve purchased other cakes from this chain/​franchise but not from this location. Was I in for a $ 20 surprise.
The only thing resembling Mango in the cake was the colour. The taste was sweet with hints of fruitiness. The texture was awful. Somewhere between gelatin and stiff egg whites. The cake was so bad, I felt good about throwing it out.
If you want to keep your friends, don’t buy cakes from this bakery.

Go early for more options, it always fresh buns and pastry melt in your mouth good ;)

Egg tarts and Portuguese tarts are quite good here especially when it is fresh. They have the flaky crust which is the best. Pricing is a little higher than other places. I haven’t tried much of their other stuff.

Les Chateaux Bakery is located in Times Square Mall.
Never as busy as Richmond Court Bakery right across as the selections are minimum.
The normal selections of Chinese style buns: BBQ Pork, Hot Dog Sausage, Ham and Egg…
But surprisingly they have quite a few trays of Meringue on display. in various sizes and flavours.
I highly recommend their custard tarts here! They have 3 diferent types: the normal egg custard, the portuguese style and the egg white style. I love the super flaky crust… and taste even great the morning after when heated up at a toaster oven!
They also serves light breakfast and lunch with their limited Hong Kong Style Café menu. which I suggest to pass as there are much better restaurants around the area!
