Came by here after having dinner near by. Fuji Mountain Bakery is a previous Kam Cha award winner. The reviews before me say it’s gone downhill since. This is my first time here so my review will not focus on what was, but what is now. Pros: Lots of baked goods not available at most other Chinese Bakeries Employee there was very nice Cons: Not much selection(though we were here late in the day) First off, the bakery is located on the back side of a plaza. If you’re driving on the streets you will never see this place. We only noticed it because we were eating at the restaurant next door. The Kam Cha banner is draped over the front doors. Walking in you notice it’s very tiny. There’s room for about 5 – 10 people max at any given time. As we’re looking at items, the first thing I notice is that there are items here I don’t see at a lot of other Chinese bakeries. Items like the Green Tea bun, coffee tart, and pumpkin buns come to mind. They have on one side a banner that translates to Japanese style baked goods. It was completely empty though when we got there. Granted, we got there after dinner. I will have to come back during the morning to see what they’re like, if any. The buns we got were pretty good for the most part. My GF is a tea connoisseur so if she says the green tea buns were good I believe her right away. Egg tarts are always a mainstay for me at these places but there weren’t any when I arrived, boo. I will be back for sure to update this review accordingly. The girl behind the counter was very nice. There was a gentleman there who came in to buy 2 loaves of bread. There was only one left on the tables where they were placed. She told him I got more fresh ones in the back and went to get him 2 fresher loaves. She was very nice to us as well. I will be back soon and try more things to get a more thorough review in.

The yuan yang i didnt like and the hotdog bun was cold, probably due to lower volume. I suggest that the owner try Marathon yuan yang for ideas. Hopefully the next time i comeback there will be improvement.

To first reviewer, it’s not your off day. They’ve been going downhill since the Kamcha competition(hk milk tea competition). I use to go there on a steady basis, and their milk tea just gets worse and worse with every time. I decided to give it another shot, TODAY, and it seals the deal for me. Their milk tea is horrendous. I ordered a cold milk tea, the tea tastes like metal, very rough on the tongue. The tea itself is unacceptable, and at this point no matter how much milk /sugar you add, it will still be bad. That being said, the lady went on to make it EVENWORSE by adding too little ice. The tea base itself is cold, which slows the melting process, but it’s no where near the same temperature as the ice, so by putting too little ice, the ice still melts fairly quickly. So what I received was a milk tea that, tastes like metal, is very watery, very rough on the tongue, and because the melted ice diluted my drink, it felt like it was not enough sugar. My verdict: Use to be great, but they don’t seem to care any more. At least about their tea.

Fuji Mountain will get ½ of 5 *Stars* because it’s not bad but it could be BETTER. I got a Blueberry Bun which was pretty much Blueberry Jam on a bun. Half the bakery displays were empty while the Egg Tarts and such didn’t look enticing at this moment. I guess I walked in a bit late in the day as I really wanted to try their drink(Yuan Yang) being that they competed at the Kamcha Competition at First Markham Place. Friendly girl asked if I wanted SUGAR? I always want more Sugar if available. When I drank it, it lacked just that, Sugar! Maybe she thought I was on a diet or going to Yoga Tree afterwards or something. Give me some sugar! No Sugar meant that the Black Tea was a bit overpowering and left that bitterness in my mouth even though there was Condense Milk to smooth it just a little. Maybe just an OFF day. Maybe it’s my off day?
