Thanks to Chris and his staff who made my parents 56th anniversary special. You all went above and beyond and the food was amazing. Other restaurants could learn from all of you. We will be back!!!

So happy that the Mikeburger is still on the menu even though Mr. Mikes has changed over the years. Food is consistent, tasty, and reasonably priced. Decent portion sizes, too. Perhaps a little too much service. We were being asked about every 2 – 3 minutes how things were and if we needed anything. Interrupted our conversation quite a bit.

Horrible burgers, anytime you have a special name for a burg, it better be decent! The Mike burger was brutally bad… Classic frozen box burger. I also had the full rack of ribs, VERYGENERIC poor sauce make the ribs a bad choice.

Always great food, relaxed atmosphere and good service. Never crowded a good pick for lunch or dinner.

Staff was friendly. Waitress slightly inattentive. Food took almost an hour to come on a Friday night. We got a «sorry», but nothing else. On the up side, there are so many other choices I don’t have to worry about going back.

Terrible food! First of all i had to wait so long and finally when it came it had a bandaid ugh!!! When i reported it they didn’t do too much about it! I was very disappointed, finally after so long when things were sorted out the food was very cold! I am never going back again! Terrible service and not helpful at all!

All around I like the chain, and the Red Deer location does not disappoint. Today I had the Balsamic Chicken Salad(it was just a Greek salad with balsamic vinegar), and it was quite good. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the salad dressing had the right blend of acidity and sweetness. I was in a group of about 15 people and the service was very quick and good. We all received our food at the same time and everyone seemed to be happy with their dishes. The waitress was very nice and managed to keep everyone’s drinks full the entire time. Mr. Mikes is a good place to get some classic Canadian favourites.

Oh Mr. Mike’s… We were excited to visit you, given that my boyfriend’s name is Mike — and it was his birthday. How much fun! I’m not sure how this experience could have been worse. We kept a positive attitude though out, and tried many times to brush things off, but unfortunately this was a big miss for us. It started when the waitress balked at the temperature we ordered our steaks at(med-rare for me, rare for my bf). She looked at him with disgust and said«Eww gross, really?»… He was really polite and confirmed that was what he wanted. She concluded that she had been waitressing for years, and had never had someone order it like that. I was surprised, given that this is a place that claims to specialize in steak… but ok, everyone has their opinion. We had a laugh and moved on. The food came out after over 30 minutes, and the steaks looked like they had been cooked that entire time — completely dark without a hint of red. The waitress disagreed with us when we(politely) complained, as did the manager. We had to get them to read the description of different temperatures(printed on their menu) for them to finally agree that ‘no red’ meant that the steak couldn’t be called ‘rare’. I get that customers aren’t always right, but at some point you need to realize that it doesn’t matter whether or not the customer is right… all that matters is that the customer is happy. We weren’t happy, and I think we were a lot nicer about it than a lot of other hungry people would be in the situation. Oh well, moving on. We eventually got new steaks that were closer to the way we ordered them. The cuts of meat were really sinewy and chewy. We really didn’t enjoy it, but I admit that we were probably particularly thrown off by the service we had received so far. We paid full price for our meal. Fair enough, but it would have been a nice gesture to take a percentage off, or give us a free desert or something. I guess I wasn’t surprised given the service we’d had so far. In all fairness, Mr. Mike’s head office did follow up with us on our comment card comments, and gave us a $ 20 gift certificate to give their location another chance. I don’t think we’ll drive up to Red Deer to use it… in fact, I’m not even sure we’d bother even if the location was down the street. Maybe we caught our waitress, the manager, and the restaurant on a bad day. Unfortunately, the experience was so bad that we probably won’t be back to give it another chance.

Normally, I’d give Mike’s 4 stars, but my latest visit was less than stellar. We only had drinks & appetizers but the appetizers looked… well, unappetizing. The potato skins looked like they had been done an hour ago & had been sitting under a heat lamp. The artichoke & spinach dip looked much the same. Normally the dip is juicier or more substantial, but it looked like it had deflated & had been sitting there a while. This is odd, because this was only 4pm in the afternoon. The wait staff was not very attentive. When he took my friend’s debit card he had it for a good 10 – 12 minutes before returning with the debit machine, while he had been running around attending to other customers in between. It made my friend a bit uncomfortable that he was running around with her card. Like I said, normally I really like Mike’s, but this time around was rather disappointing.
