I had the opportunity to dine at Conti during a business trip to Quebec City and had a great dining experience. The food was delicious and their combination of flavors on their French and Italian dishes was superb! Their 3 course meal for $ 40.00 is a great deal with multiple options to choose from. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a delicious traditional French meal while still keeping the price reasonable.

Over priced noisey pretentious place with less than marginal food. Had a fillet mignon with lobster. I’m sure the the beef was not a fillet. Small piece of rubber with nasty odorous lobster. Service was okay but kitchen was extremely slow. Feeling ripped off.

What a nice surprise having fusion cuisine. There’s plenty of French food in the Old City, but it’s nice to have a blend of culinary styles. We started with some delicious red wines by the glass. Apps were fresh bruschetta in November and a quad sampler including — beef carpaccio, salmon tartare, shrimp tempura,& breaded Gouda /Mango chutney– wonderful start to the meal. The spinach salad was delicious with pecans/berries. The salmon penne pasta was fresh and equally delicious. For the encore– Hazelnut chocolate cake was flavorful and light. I’d recommend this place for a nice change of venue. The service was absolutely incredible — friendly /helpful /timely.

Arrived without a reservation after a long day of travel. Recommended by our hotel, we were welcomed by a very friendly hostess and wait staff. Dining room is somewhat small but offered very pleasant décor and ambiance. Christian, our waiter, was extremely helpful and provided just the right amount of attention to a nicely paced dinner. Food was well-prepared and attractively presented. Reasonably priced menu options and diverse wine choices. Overall, a very good start to our stay in Quebec City.

We came in here after walking around the old city. I ordered a small bruschetta with precutto appetizer and my wife had the onion soup. Both were just okay. The preperation of both dishes was quite slow. What really annoyed me about this place was that they charged my wife $ 7 dollars for a large bottle of sparkling water without making it clear that we were purchasing such a large bottle. I felt like we were ripped off. This was probably the worst restaurant on our trip. I will not return.

The service was excellent. We chose pasta dishes and they were clearly prepared with fresh ingredients, it was not your ordinary pasta. We also enjoyed a hazel cake and cappuccino which were delicious as well. The pricing was competitive compared to restaurants in the area.

This place is so pretentious and overpriced for what it is, it’s ridiculous. They clearly try to come off as modern and fancy, but the food is really lacking. Definitely the worst salmon tartar I have ever had. Not recommended.

The meek may inherit the earth, but they make really crappy waiters. I’m not sure it would have made a huge difference, apparently they had 2 huge parties, but that’s something you would know about in advance to prepare for; the management chose to take no action, at the price of us being served dinner at 10:15 after we were seated at 8:30, as well as garnering this, hopefully scathing, review. The unfortunateness started with my partner’s lobster bisque. It was objectively disgusting. Too dark, & I could smell it from my seat; way fishy. The waiter overheard my partner’s displeasure with the bisque & immediately asked to take it away. Ok, so far, but then he came back to explain that it is the restaurant’s policy to still charge for something, even if you don’t like it & they take it away, SO for god’s sake if you order something, be sure you like it. They did back down on that policy, but only after my partner had to show his ass & the manager came over.(«But I know we have some of the best lobster bisque in the city.» Yeah? Thanks for the warning.) Then it took an inordinate amount of time to get our entrees. Possibly attributable to the 2 large parties, but certainly something that ought to be accommodated for. This did give my partner the chance to ask the waiter, «are our entrees coming up soon? Are we being punished for that soup thing?» Overall my experience at Conti was unpleasant. I will not return during this trip; nor will I return on future visits to this otherwise wonderful city

NPS = 9 Le Continental was closed so we came here. Owned by the same owners as Le Continental. And the service and food showed that. It is Italian but made by French, so the food is very rich by Italian standards. But you won’t find me complaining about that. If you are craving Italian food in Quebec City, this is a must-try. The veal tenderloin is one of the best veal dishes I have ever had in my life. The salmon has this sweet potato casserole topping that makes your mouth water. The French onion soup was nothing out of this world, but the lobster bisque was worth ever penny of the 14 $ it cost. We were really upset Le Continental was closed because we really wanted our Dover Sole served table side, but we were glad to find this place next door. Excellent, excellent meal.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for lunch as our tour guide mentioned it would be a good place to eat. Luckily, even though we did not make a reservation they were able to find us a table. This was around 2:30 pm. Your meal comes with complimentary bread, that was fantastic. For lunch, I had the Minestrone soup, which was delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed their seafood pasta dish, with freshly made pasta, that just made that dish that much better! For dessert I had their Crème Brûlée with maple sugar that was really amazing that I wanted another. My boyfriend had their citrus cheese cake, I personally did not care for the citrus peels on top. Overall, I recommend it.

Was there last week for diner. The atmosphere is nice, staff is friendly. The food was average. The beef carpaccio was dry and tasteless(hard to do) and the salmon tartar was just ok. The lobster bisque was just not that good. My husband had the mixed grill and said that he did like it.

Had lunch here after checking in to our hotel. Attentive but unobtrusive service, food was better than average to good, probably a 7.5 out of 10, but I’m a tough grader. Appetizers were excellent: carpaccio & shrimp. Soup had a few lumps of flour that escaped the eye of the chef but flavor was good. Pane cotta was well executed and coffee was excellent. Definitely recommend them for a leisurely lunch.

Je me suis R-É-G-A-L-É-E !!

Fairly good food. Was hoping for special. Lovely food presentation. Not much flavor. Décor strives for modern hip. Service was good. Based upon the lack flavor, throbbing music, and the prices I probably will not return. Steaks were good and prepared to order. Melon should be ripe for $ 13. Risotto should not have crunch.

A few years ago, my wife and I visited this restaurant and had a wonderful meal. Returning to Quebec City, we both knew where would have dinner that night! The service, the cuisine, and the setting meld nicely. The only criticisms i have are that the tables are a bit close together and the dining area can be a little too dim for my liking.

Very much enjoyed this restaurant! We had dinner here our first night in town and liked it so much we came back again later in the week… Its a small restaurant and is somewhat unassuming from the outside, however the service and meals were outstanding. Great wine list — the US wines were priced higher than the European wines which were fine for us as they had an outstanding selection of Italian wines. We started off with a cocktail each night and many compliments to the bartender as they were heavy pours! For apps — We had the calamari — it was good, but nothing too outstanding. We also had the lobster bisque — very surprising since they used a «rue» as the base, so it had a gumbo type flavor with a alot of lobster(very good!). Another was the prosciutto wrapped sauteed shrimp served with a thai dipping sauce(very good!). For entrée’s — on the first visit, we had the mixed veal which was a sample of 3 different styles of veal — sauteed with a mushroom sauce, parmasean style and grilled(this was a truly unique dish with great flavor) and a fillet of beef(perfectly cooked, great crust, very flavorable and served with a lobster rissotto). On the second visit, we had the sirloin steak(again cooked perfectly with very good seasoning) and the mixed grill — lamb chops, filet of steak and sauteed pork chop(all good choices and very good flavor). Would highly this restaurant!

This restaurant was recommended to us by an employee at our hotel. We were told told that we would need reservations, but since we dined on a Monday, none were needed. When we arrived we were warmly greeted, our coats were checked, and we were promptly seated. The décor was modern rustic(if there is such a thing), and it blended together nicely. I started with onion soup which came with a large slice of bread topped with melted gruyère cheese. It was fantastic! My girlfriend started with a typical salad which tasted like a typical salad. For my entrée I chose the pork tenderloin with maple butter, potatoes, and veggies. The pork tasted good, but it relied too much on the maple butter. If it was served by itself the tenderloin would have been your normal run the mill tenderloin. My girlfriend ordered fettuccini and chicken. I only had a couple of bites, but it was very tasty and very light. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Conti. The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating even though we didn’t speak French. If we ever find ourselves Quebec again we will certainly come back.

After a long 8-hour trek from Boston, we arrived to Quebec City tired and hungry on Christmas Eve. Located a short 2 minute walk from Hotel Frontenac, Conti Café was the spot we selected to celebrate the beginning of the holiday week-end. We were eager for a delicious meal and needed sustenance to see ourselves through the evening Mass to follow at Notre Dame — located also nearby. The restaurant was every bit as wonderful as our concierge suggested. It was a busy night at Conti and we appreciated our table being ready for our arrival. The ambiance was festive with pleasing holiday music, and we enjoyed excellent service and outstanding food. My 3 sons loved their dishes which included Salmon and a variety of pasta dishes. I enjoyed an outstanding preparation of Spaghetti Carbonara which I’m still thinking about with great affection. My husband, who orders soups often, remarked that the Minestrone was the best he’d ever tasted. He shared some with me, and I couldn’t agree more. We were tempted to return to Conti again during our visit, but decided with all of Quebec’s culinary offerings we shouldn’t narrow our focus. Looking back, I wish we’d returned. Sometimes when you find a good thing, you shouldn’t fight your intuition. I highly recommend Conti restaurant; a genuine stand out for the staff’s hospitality & talent for serving fine, classic Italian fare.

We had dinner at Café Conti and then decided to return for a brunch. Both experiences were great. Café Conti is the less formal neighbor of the flagship restaurant, Le Continental. Waiters and staff wear the obligatory black, but still manage to smile and have a friendly attitude. When in French Canada, one must roll with it. The lemon drop we ordered turned out to be a glass of vodka with squeeze of lemon in it. So, after suggesting they add equal parts cranberry to it, we «invented» the Cosmopolitan at Conti. I share that only for humor, because even this little bump in the road was quickly addressed by friendly staff as they tried to figure out exactly what we were talking about. At dinner we ended up sampling many half-plates, which is definitely recomment. We had linguine with fresh pesto and then another plate that came with very fresh lobster. Salmon tartare was fresh and unpretentious lacking the usual mounds of scallions, ginger and sesame found in U.S. versions. It was just really, really fresh salmon. My son ordered calamari which turned out to be very fresh and not the usual frozen/fried calamari one finds at many restaurants. It was served with a great Arabiatta sauce that really woke up the squid. At lunch we tried the salmon two ways(tartare and smoked), ceasar salad and then the basic club sandwich. All were very good, though I have to say dinner was more the stand out.(Of course, what sort of excitement does one really expect when they order a club sandwich?) I’d recommend Café Conti for its trendy evening atmosphere combined with great service and very good, fresh food. The waiter told us it was lobster season and I would not have been surprised if the lobster on our pasta had been moving around shortly before we arrived at the restaurant.

After some rude tourists stole our reservations at another restaurant, we were left scrambling to find somewhere to eat on a busy Saturday night. The streets were crowded, restaurants had long waits, and tourists were sweaty and cranky. To top it all off, I tripped on the cobblestone street and flashed my thong clad behind to those nearby. My mortified husband helped me up and pushed me into the nearest restaurant, the Conti Caffe. He then proceeded to drool for the next hour and a half. Not because he was thinking of how I bared my bum, but instead because the bartender was SMOKIN’ HOT. I admit, I drooled a bit too, and thought about whether I would consider something scandalous on this short trip. That was just wishful thinking. She was way out of both of our leagues. Luckily, the food was just about as mouthwatering as the bartender. Pete ordered the Filetto di manzo Rossini o Gorgonzola(Filet Mignon with Gorgonzola) and received it exactly as ordered. I had the sesame crusted seared tuna with a balsamic reduction. Our waiter spoke English, as did many of the other waiters and waitresses, so we didn’t do our typical embarrassing butchering of French coupled with confusing gestures. This decreased our stress level a bit, and we didn’t feel like we had«stupid American» stamped on each of our foreheads. Aside from the meal, Pete & I both ordered Quebec beer and enjoyed it. I had the Boréale Rousse. Yum. Eye candy + great food. Well worth the $ 30+ per entrée.
