Casa Dolce Gelato & Chocolate

This review is somewhat limited, as I’ve only tried their gelato. The service is sort of hit and miss — sometimes I am served by a very friendly, smiley young lady and other times I get the sour-​faced «really-don’t-wanna-be-here» girl. I guess it depends on the time of day!
The gelato is decent and they have a few really nice flavours, but they switch them up now and then so my favourites aren’t always available. I’m a bit ruined for gelato ever since I stepped foot into Bella Gelataria in Vancouver, so it’s really hard to find anything that comes close to the quality and flavours found there.
But hey, Port Moody is 40 minutes from downtown, so when I’m in the mood for gelato, Casa Dolce is less than 5 minutes from my front door, and they are A-​OK in my books.

I love the salted caramel omg it’s to die for. I like to try the pistachio next. Glad they have coffee here too. It’s a lovely shop with indoor and outdoor seating.

I agree with the other posters, to start off my favourite is the hazelnut flavour. I like to take it to go (small size for home) as well as the mike shake. I heard from another customer in line that the woman who owns the establishment also owns the bakery. I have yet to try the bakery but if the food here is this good, and it’s been around for years I am excited to try the bakery! I am happy we moved to Port Moody, there is always something hidden to try.
Good décor and kid friendly. Plus they have chairs with umbrellas outside so you can sit outside without being burnt by the sun. Would like to see more locations in the near future since it’s hard to find flavours at other ice cream stores that are up to par.

Service isn’t always the best HOWEVER… Best damn gelato around! You have to try the dairy free chocolate ice cream, the Nutella and the hazelnut is amazing. My husband loves the hazelnut ice cream so much that he constantly buys a small sized take home and leaves if in the freezer! They even make shakes from any gelato flavour of your choice… The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is because the staff wasn’t as professional as they were let’s say 5 years ago, but at least the gelato has stayed the same.

This is my favorite gelato place in Vancouver! The hedgehog flavor is so good and I like the chocolate as well. I have been coming here for many years, since I was a kid and will continue going back whenever I’m in town to visit. The décor and ambience of the place is also nice. Not to mention, the location is great for grabbing ice cream and walking around exploring the shops in newport village.

Best gelato in the Port Moody/​Coquitlam center area! One of my favorite places to go for dessert. They have great service and great desserts, best being the gelato. They have lots of flavors, but they don’t have every flavor all the time. Sometimes they might not have made your favorite flavor that day. But live a little and try something new!

Has very nice décor, with good selection of Daniels chocolate & coffee/​espresso/​kitchen tools for sale (though they are pretty expensive)
They are one of the rare places around the area that offers affogato ! and their coffee is reasonably priced although I wish their paninis were a bit cheaper :(
Newport Village itself is pretty cute and cozy (albeit pricey) and this one fits just right in. although unlike some other businesses, the quality of their food/​dessert/​drinks justify their cost.
They have comfy seats, nice selection of gelato and friendly owner/​staff. Nice place to spend an afternoon chit chatting with your friends or playing with your laptop.
One thing though. I may be mistaken about this but I don’t think they have wi-​fi in there? if they solve the wifi thing, and maybe the food prices… (a teensy bit.?) then they’d be bumped up to 5 stars ! :)

I might as well quit my job right now and enroll into fat camp because I don’t have a hope in heaven of not frequenting this place on a weekly basis. So, because gluttony loves company, and I really don’t want to get fat all by myself, here are two of the must trys:
(A friend brought these desserts to my house so I don’t have the exact names… but I’ll do my best describe them)
1. Pistachio white chocolate cookie –This was my favourite out of the four. It’s not really a cookie. but I don’t know how else to describe it. It consists of 2 thin biscuits made out of nuts, dipped in white chocolate and pistachio, sandwiching a thick, but not too sweet, coffee-​flavoured mouse/​cream. When you bite down into the crunchy exterior, the mouse/​cream just ooooozes out of that cookie. Ooohhh…

2. White chocolate raspberry mousse cake — I love how the crumble on the bottom was mixed with caramel, transforming it from an otherwise unmemorable base to a marvelously soft and gooey experience. Again, not too sweet, but plenty decadent. The raspberry jelly on top adds a well thought out tartness to the mousse cake that would otherwise be a tad too creamy.
Time to go shopping for new (bigger) pants.

Put a tasty gelato café in the middle of a cute little village style strip mall and I will try it.
When you actually try this place you will just fall in love. The gelato is Italy quality and it actually has that feeling of being some far away place with the espresso and décor.
