This is a nice little breakfast dinner. Friendly service and good food. I’ll be visiting again when in the neighbourhood!

It’s an older café but the food is very good and the prices are quite reasonable if you’re really hungry you need to try the works omelette this is fantastic you cannot find an omelette like that anywhere else to check it out its across the street from Coopers food on Prairie Avenue you won’t be disappointed

Good easy greasy fast breakfast. Nothing special but friendly service and cheap grub in a generous portion. Definitely a hole in the wall for atmosphere and they accept cash only but a good local restaurant.

Classic diner experience in Poco KC’s seems to be winning the Poco breakfast wars. Having seen the closure of their cross-street rival Murphy’s and now the fall of Denny’s in Poco my wife and I decided to check it out. We came in on a weekday morning about 8:30, and both loved the classic diner décor with worn but clean booths in the front, kitchen in the back. A board on the wall announced the daily specials including their homemade soup feature(beef vegetable barley made by Dave on this day). Immediately we were greeted and offered and served coffee. My wife selected one of the breakfast specials(vegetarian omelette) while I selected Salisbury steak and eggs from the well worn and extensive menu. Both of us enjoyed our breakfasts very much. The vegetables in the omelette were fresh and the seasoning spot on(not oversalted). The Salisbury steak was generous and flavourful and I especially loved the eggs which had the bright orange of free range yolks. Both came with hash browns and toast. The food was tasty, well prepared and not overwhelmed by grease as too often happens in lesser diners. The only knock for me is the coffee which remains true to its diner heritage despite the broad availability of better options. Recommend, and will be back for lunch. Cash only

From what I understand its under new ownership a year or so ago… Friendly staff, food is good quality. I only go for breakie myself. Cant beat the special. Coffee, breakie and tip for $ 10.00 For what it is its great! And I’m happy it’s in my neighborhood. If you want glam and décor go to Cora or De Dutch… I myself like to support local small business tho. For what it is you can’t go wrong… And the coffee is good. *They only accept cash as payment, which is just fine with me. Best regards, Greg

As my BF lives in Poco, we decided to give a try to this little café close to his place as we always want to discover new places and give chances to small restaurant. We heard that it was a new management and we really wanted to have a good time for breakfast. It was a HUGE disappointment !! First, when we arrived, we received an icy welcome, something like«F*** a new customer», and trust me the place wasn’t THAT busy. Anyway we seat and look at the menu who seemed great. We explained to the waitress that I am Gluten Intolerant and that I head that they were doing Gluten Free bread(obviously my source of information was wrong). The waitress answered«Yes ! Yes ! Are you ready now !!!» OMG sorry for asking questions and that I don’t want to end up dead because I ate what I wasn’t suppose to. So I ordered a burger with homemade patties and my BF got the Hungry man. When my burger arrived, the bread definitely didn’t look like a Gluten Free bread. So we dared asking again this«so friendly» waitress. She got mad and went to the kitchen and ask if it was GF bread. She came back apologizing that it was not and that they don’t have any. OK so I asked nicely the same dish with no bread. 30 seconds later she came back with it… obviously not freshly cooked for me. She explained that it was for an other customer but she is giving it to me. The meat was tiny, dry and terrible taste(homemade fresh patty… YAY right …) The tomatoes on the side had bread crumb on it… Thank God we explained my food allergies and that I could end up to the hospital. I just hate that ridiculous patty and those refried fries and just left before making a scandal. My BF was even more mad than me as we were nice and explained 3 times my food allergy. So long story short, low average food, very poor service and not that cheap. They will never see us ever again …

I tried KC’s this morning. The food itself was not bad. I had the bacon and mushroom scramble, and it was as good as any homemade breakfast platter. Nothing too special or ornate, but that’s how I like my food. The service was a little bit questionable. My friend and I walked in and sat down for a good 5 minutes without being handed menus, and the place was nearly empty. We didn’t wait very long for our food, but our coffee cups were empty for far too long. Coffee was tasty though, so I’ll give them that! It seemed like the owner focused a little more on his regulars than us, but whatever, I get it. The restaurant has a very homey feel, and the owner addresses everyone by name and knows almost all the regulars’ orders off by heart. I thought it was a cute place to eat, and it’s perfect if you have an hour or so to just hang out. I thought it was a little bit on the pricier side for a scrambled egg platter and some coffee, but it was in no way expensive. I paid about 12 dollars(before tip).

KCs is under new management(since August 2008). The food is fresh, fast and tasty. The coffee is fantastic, and the service is fast, friendly, and most importantly — anticipatory. The new owner has changed the pace of service and raised the menu and committment to providing a great place to get together with friends and family(small groups) for brunch, and lunch. This is currently my favourite place to have breakfast.(And my families!) Just around the corner, in our neighborhood, not too pricey, great food and service with a smile. The locals hang their hat, and the fresh refills of coffee keep coming back — and so will I.
