Tasty bison burger. Great fries! Good coffee. Well done. Something I don’t get to say often when it comes to eateries.

I find it a bit pricey for a burger, but not for a custom burger. When I get a burger craving for a real serious burger… damn Burger 55 satisfies each and every time. I’ll be salivating for a juicy burger and head over to Burger 55 and I load it up the way I want which usually costs me about $ 13 – 15 for each burg. Once I spend $ 24 on just one burg, but after I mow them down I forget the price and order two more. But the real intriguing part about Burger 55? They started out in an old tire shop. That’s not the funny part. When they expanded, they moved into a bigger tire shop. I find that really funny.

Not a bad burger but the order system and price is a bit much. Deffently something to try and the fries are great. Don’t get the added sauce unless you like mayo with some stuff added. Will go back and try another option or at least get some fries.

Okay first off YUM! This place is great. There are endless combinations to create your ideal burger and if you cant find something to suit your tastes you are trying to be difficult. The meat was juicy and delicious no complaints what so ever about the food its self. I like how the ordering system works, they have clipboards at the door and you make all your selections and hand it in for your order. This worked great as a few people in my group were complaining that their burger was incorrect but since they hand back your form when you retrieve your order it was obvious my group members were actually in the wrong. I love it! Unfortunately there were a few things that prevented this from being the perfect lunch: First of all the location is not easy to find. It is in the back of a building and not visible from any main roads and GPS cant direct you there correctly because it is on the backside of a building. Some main road signage would be a big help to us out of towners. Secondly one of the big things on their menu that they advertise is the home brewed root beer, we arrived just as they opened and they informed us that since they had just opened that they didn’t have any available yet, they were even sold out of the bottles which is a huge disappointment considering how vigorously they advertise the stuff. Lastly the burgers themselves are not too costly if your getting a «base model» but they add-ons seem more costly than appropriate or would be standard else where eg: .85 for sauces and 1.85 for bacon seem a little steep. All and all this place is good and certainly worth a visit we will be back again.

An eclectic little burger shop(hipster friendly) with AMAZING delicious fresh burgers and Vegan & health-conscious options. Loved the fun of building my own burger & appreciated the general vibe. This is a must stop if you are in Penticton!

I was VERY underwhelmed by Burger 55 after reading so many good reviews. Our food took a very long time, and fries were very subpar IMO. The burger was average at best. They do have a Burgertime arcade machine though, I’ll give bonus points for that ;)

Just not the same anymore. I really miss the original Buger 55 that had burgers that were cooked perfect and not overcooked hockey pucks. It used to be a staple on the annual vacation, but this year will be the last. Paying the prices they charge for the food you get now just doesn’t make sense — it’s a shame.

I didn’t try their burgers, just had a salad. The salad was a positive surprise: all ingredients were very fresh and the vinaigrette was super tasty. My boyfriend built his own burger and loved it. He says it was one of the best burgers he ever had… and if you don’t like it, it’s your own fault cause you choose what goes on there The burger pattie was cooked medium rare and very juicy. The portion was huge, I don’t think I could have finished it. Fries were good too.

I recently went here on a trip to Penticton. I had read good reviews and the concept seemed really cool. I was excited about it. My son and I had fun picking and choosing our own burger design. For three of us, our bill was $ 60. My bun was cold, the burger was warm and almost tasteless. My son’s onion rings were soaking in a pool of oil. My boyfriend’s fries were dry and the gravy wasn’t the best. This place has a lot of potential. Maybe one day it was better but it was not what I was expecting at all. I was dissapointed to spend so much for cold food.

I came here with my friends while camping in Penticton and we wanted a good burger. I can safely say that this is the best gourmet burger I have ever had. The menu is very well thought out, though wasteful of paper, makes sure that you get exactly what you want. They have a spot on the menu that you can let them know of allergies, it’s a very upbeat place, kid friendly, there is a patio and an inside area. I would and did recommend this to anyone living in or driving through Penticton.

Disappointment! That is the word that comes to mind after our experience of Burger 55. We were a fair sized order for 6 people, and not too complicated, they still managed to get 3 items wrong, and almost didn’t even give us one of our poutines. They have a convoluted, gimmicky ordering system which is a sheet of paper on a bunch of clipboards hanging by the door. This is fun at first; you get to check off the type of burger, bun, toppings, cheese, poutine, drinks etc you want. Which sounds great until you realize that the chefs struggle to follow these sheets, so when you get your burger, more often than not it comes as something different or missing from what you ordered. As for the food itself: the burgers were dry and not juicy. And the fries were soggy, tasting like they were fried in old oil. I ordered a poutine with curry sauce and jalapeño havarti cheese. Regrettably they didn’t even put the cheese on. Seriously guys, you’re making poutine, one of the key ingredients is cheese! Overall I felt let down and unhappy with the experience, as it looked like a great burger joint initially.

We liked the checklist menu which made it easy to choose your patty, bun and toppings. We both had the brioche bun which was disappointingly boring and not like any brioche bun, I’ve had in the past. The fries were lack lustre and tasted like the oil had not been changed in a while. The cheeses were shredded which made it difficult to keep in the bun. We both got a dipping sauce for the fries but opted not use them after a single taste. The building is cute, retro, clean and funky. The staff was nice. The food was not great and both of us felt quite sick within an hour of eating there. We won’t be back.

Solid four stars. You can customize your burger with what feels like unlimited options and mine came out to near perfection. Burger was juicy but not raw(they go more on the med rare side) and the brioche bun was awesome. Fries were crispy and they have lots of seasoning salts if you’re a fan of those. Will be back.

I feel like this concept is something many burger places have tried and there has been varied success but burger 55 does a pretty great job of making normal burgers that are good but allowing for a bit of the wackier burgers that taste pretty good at the same time. Some of their toppings are peanut butter and peaches which is interesting — I wanted to try peaches but I couldn’t imagine what to pair with it personally. A lot could be said for having a few more chef select options around if you’re not so good at pairing the strange toppings. We almost missed the store front as it’s not off the main street. Ordering is a bit difficult and if you’re counting pennies it’s really difficult to figure out how much you’re spending until it’s run through. We both experimented and added a bunch of stuff and got out of them spending more than I would expect from fast food but a very reasonable amount for a pub or serviced restaurant but I’m OK with that because it’s good. Ultimately we lucked out and picked good combinations. We also invented different poutine like dishes(mine had mac and cheese — which was fun) and that was also good. I recommend flavored salt for your fries(I don’t think they salt them — or if they do, it’s very light) Fire salt with mac and cheese poutine worked pretty magically with some ketchup. All and all I approve and would revisit next time we’re through town.

A bit on the pricey end, but worth it for the experience. You can pick exactly what toppings you want and the atmosphere stays true to it’s hole in the wall origins.

best burger I have encountered in canada. a little pricey, though. has a checklist menu that allows you to choose what you want on your burger. there are many, many choices. one caveat: if you choose cheese, they are all shredded. since they don’t put the cheese on the patty, it doesn’t melt. annoying. sadly if you want cheese, a Kraft single is your best choice here. the fries are outstanding. lots of fun ketchups to try.

Burger 55 is a solid burger joint. Set in what seems to be a former automotive garage, there’s no messing around here with the standard restaurant formalities. You come in, grab a clipboard, pick your bun, meat, fixins, and sides, take it to the counter and wait for them to call you up. It seems like if either the daily or the monthly burger appeals to you, that’s your best deal, because build your own can start to get pricey when you start seeing mac and cheese and grilled peaches as toppings; but at least it shouldn’t get out of hand. One of the other perks is that along the side of the pickup counter, that have a variety of shakers with different seasonings. Douse your fries in the Truffle Salt. You will be in heaven … that is, if heaven to you is super salty truffliness.

Recently relocated to larger digs, Burger 55 still has great burgers, fantastic sides, and sassy service. I stopped by twice on my last trip to Penticton and was impressed both times. My two burgers couldn’t have been more different(one very hippie with spinach and salmon, the other all meat and cheese), but both were delicious. The onion rings and sweet potato fries were crispy and flavourful and the on-tap Cariboo beer was the perfect accompaniment on a hot day. On my initial visit, the counter guy gave me trouble for completing the order form entirely wrong, but it was good natured ribbing and made the experience a little more fun. My second visit of the trip was with four other people; everyone was pleased with their food and the great variety of patties and toppings. It is a bit pricey, but was worth the splurge as lunch kept everyone full for the drive back to Vancouver ;-)

A proper beachtown needs a burger shack, and Penticton has Burger 55, a gourmet build-your-own burger shack with friendly funny guys behind the counter and licensed picnic table patio. We went on a blustery fall day, when warm burgers full of awesome are sunshine to the stomach. You just walk in the door, grab a clipboard from the wall, and start creating away. Go as old-school or crazy as you like from the all the options(some are included, some«premium» toppings and sauces cost extra). Challenge each other … nothing like your partner looking over at your clipboard and tsking, «Boring …» to spur on the burger creativity. I made mine sort of Italian-themed with mozzarella, roasted garlic, tomato and sauteed mushrooms, plus sprouts for that healthy kick. Then we wait, not too long, for our names to be called. The staff are wicked funny: my husband detailed his hatred for onions in the allergies box of the form, so the staff called out his order with«extra onions!» I put down«whispering» as an allergy, so my name is called out in a stage-whisper. Of course. But here’s the moment of truth, the unwrapping of the humble foil, the photo shoot, and finally, the feeding … tender patty, just a hint of pink in the centre and the subtle mingling of my chosen flavours, sharp garlic, earthy sprouts and savoury mushrooms. A little light on the mozza, frankly, but juicy and good to the last bite. You know something? I need to go to Penticton more often. Is that a Greyhound terminal just up the street? Yes, it might even be worth that, and you’d arrive just in time for lunch …

This is the best motherf**ing burger you bitches are gonna find in Penticton, and you are going to f**ing eat the f**k out of these f**ckers. If this is the kind of review that makes you think, f**k, I gotta get me some of that awesome burger, are you in luck! Excellent burgers, amazing sauces, and a range of options such as I have never seen. Absolutely delicious, though they lose some serious points for putting shredded cheese on at the end(so it doesn’t melt — for me, a dealbreaker) and for serving on a cold bun(what, no nice grill-top toasting?) But if you are thinking, what is UP with all that profanity, and will my kids pick it up if I take them here for burgers? then you may want to opt for take-out. The hip hop blasting the patio was definitely to my taste, and I’m afraid my kids are already more than familiar with most of the vocabulary thanks to their potty-mouthed mother. However I gather that there are some parents who try to shield their kids from that kind of language, which is probably why I’ve never heard it on the stereo of another place with a kids’ menu. So: four stars for the burgers, two stars for the mother**ing kid-friendly soundtrack.
