This is going to be my new neighborhood Walmart so I decided to get acquainted with this location early on so I am not completely lost in the future. It is a smaller Walmart,(I am used to the superstore on Merivale) so I had a small panic attack when I walked in. The ceilings felt pretty low and had the whole«basement» feel to it. It was pretty quiet on a Tuesday evening, which was surprising, yet nice, although I did have to dodge a couple of kids riding bikes that were for sale up and down the aisles. The store was not in the best shape; the makeup department was lacking BIGTIME and was quiet messy(so far the Kanata centrum has the best makeup department) so that was a bummer. The lines were pretty slow, and I did not notice an express line for those quick purchases. I really, really, really want to like this Walmart since I will be shopping at this location frequently, but it did just not have that«warm, inviting feeling» that other Walmarts have, it was just very drab!

This location used to be the home of Zellers. After Walmart took over, they renovated the inside of the store. I think it’s one of the smaller Walmart stores in the Ottawa region, but they carry pretty much anything you could need and they also have a pharmacy, like the others. I think that aside from the brand, and a fresh renovation, it’s not much different than it used to be as a Zellers. We purchased a digital camera as a Christmas present for our daughter a week or two before Christmas. It turned out to be a dud on Christmas morning. My wife returned to exchange it and one of the employees went to look for one to exchange it with. He came back saying that they didn’t have anymore. They called the Orleans location to confirm stock and my wife reluctantly drove there instead. Later that day she found out from her sister that they actually had a LOT of them at this location, on display. This was a bit upsetting since it could have saved her a long drive out to Orleans, on boxing day no less. She called the store and spoke with the manager, who apologized and offered a discount for the trouble. I guess there’s still some growing pains, but they do make an effort to keep customers happy.
