I honestly cannot believe I have not reviewed this place yet! It is one of my favourite local shops to stop in and get great quality meats and some of my other local faves, such as Split Tree Cocktail mix and Top Shelf Preserves. I have tried a few of their sausages and pepperettes, my favourite is the jalapeño cheese curd smokie — I get them every time I go in. I know they have a brunch kit that I have been dying to try but every time I go in it either isn’t the right time or I have other plans for breakfast. The house made sandwiches look super tasty and they have a great selection of cheeses also. The staff is also so nice and super helpful when you are being indecisive because of all the wonderful items they have. I highly recommend anyone to go, especially for summer BBQ’s and having company over, their meats and cheeses are sure to impress and pick up locally made cocktail mixes and preserves and you have an amazing meal!

There’s a ton of reasons to love this little shop at the corner of Cambridge and Gladstone(a quick walk from Bronson and Gladstone). Their products, the staff, and the atmosphere itself are lovely. There’s a sign in the window saying«We’re all weiners here» that never fails to make me smile on my walk home. The selection of meat here is amazing. They create their own cured artisan meats(and for a long time just supplied local restaurants), and their meat is local, ethically raised, hormone and antibiotic free. That’s enough to make you feel pretty good about eating their products. You can come here and pick up delicious bacon, shaved meats, steaks, and my very favourite: their sausages! They have a ton of unique flavours, ranging from a bit sweet to savoury and spicy. They like to partner with other Ottawa businesses, and recently came out with a beer bratwurst made with Big Rig beer. So fun! If you like sausages, you MUST visit this place. Yes, it’s certainly pricier than your grocery store meat aisle, but I promise you the quality is worth it. Every bite will reassure you it was worth the few extra dollars. While the meat here is off the hook(get it? HA!), the other amazing thing about this store is that is stocks local specialty products that I adore. Think Michael’s Dolce, Top Shelf Preserves, Split Tree Cocktail mix, Sizzles rubs and sauces and so many more! You can feel the local love emanating from this little shop. And yes, I should mention that it’s little. Cozy, really. I’ve never been bothered by its size but I could see how it could get crowded with a few too many customers. The staff here are amazing. Every time I’ve popped in they are quick with wit and smiles and always ask if I’d like to try a little something. I like that this shop is a quick stroll from my home, and that it’s not right in the heart of downtown(it makes it more accessible in my opinion!). With Seed to Sausage, Detroit Soul Food, and Red Apron down the street, this neighbourhood is truly turning in to a foodie’s paradise.
