Was back at Pecco’s, and it’s been some time since I’m not often in the area when the shop is open. The service I received from one of the weekend staff was knowledgeable and professional, and nice. I’d say Pecco’s is a solid 3.5, especially in light of my past experiences here.

Can I give zero stars? I guess I will begrudgingly award one because even though I am not Pecco’s target consumer, I am sure their product selection is helpful to someone. That someone is probably male, has significant disposable income and bikes primarily on weekends in velodrome settings. As a female commuter cyclist on a student budget, there is very little for me. I went to the Murray street location for emergency parts when I lived in the neighbourhood, but even then would generally limp elsewhere. I have had consistently terrible service at Pecco’s. The store owner was unable to answer very basic questions about a pump I was interested in buying(and I mean really, really basic. Presta vs. Schraeder basic). I also had trouble getting both the staff’s attention and assistance, as helping me was less of a priority than chatting about their own rides. When a part I needed wasn’t in stock they simply told me to go to the Gatineau location, but without checking their database to confirm availability. Maybe this wouldn’t be a big deal for someone driving to the Gatineau Hills to ride on the weekend, but it’s out of the way for me. In terms of merchandise, they don’t offer much for commuter cyclists or anyone on a budget. I did buy some basic fenders only to end up with one packaged without all the parts necessary to mount it, as the store had taped the package up. I guess some parts fell out. Finally, this is not a store to shop at if you are female and want to be treated respectfully or as an equal to other customers. I’ll leave it at that.
