Since I work in the building, Green Rebel is convenient but, the service is absolutely awful. On more than one occasion I’ve had to wait 20 – 30 minutes before I received my food(while other customers who ordered after me received theirs). Employees stand around and do nothing while customers are at the cash waiting to be served. If you go near the end of the day, employees look completely annoyed that they have to serve you(and this even 30 minutes before closing time). The food is decent but nothing extraordinary(except the peanut butter bread they have). Their prices are steep for what it is. If I didn’t work in the building I would absolutely not go out of my way to come here.

I went to the Elgin st Green Rebel location today. I usually grab one of their delicious muffins, but decided to change it up and grab a piece of the citrus poppyseed loaf. I found it VERY dry and over priced at $ 3.15. I’m not a cheap/frugal person but I thought it was priced the same as a muffin, which is usually $ 2. I think it was over priced for what it was. In the end though, I will continue going back. I’ve enjoyed the soups, salads and sandwiches in the past.

Hot, fresh, tasty & different I had the broccoli cheddar soup and rebel sandwich and both of them hit the spot. Décor is sorta modern Industrial Age which is neither here nor there for me. Great spot for a quick lunch that doesn’t involve talking about company secrets. I say that because I sat 2 tables across from the booths and I could here EVERYTHING without trying.(Apparently this 2 people with a neurotic dog are getting married; this guy who does nothing at work keeps getting his contract renewed and his wife is leaving him AND there’s this dude who doesn’t like the startup he’s working at because of the owner’s son in law). All this in the time it took me to have a bowl of soup and a chicken salad and I pinky-swear, I wasn’t trying to listen.

I decided to try green rebel for lunch today since I was craving a delicious and filling salad. Sadly I was disappointed. The goat cheese and salmon salad, while tasting OK, not special, was very pricey and not filling. The portions are small and consist of manly greens at a lot of unchopped onion versus topics. I’m not a fan of spending $ 10 for a salad, and a mediocre one at that. The smoked salmon was quite strong and a little fishy. All that I can say is that next time I want salad, I’ll skip Green Rebel and go to Subway or Quizno’s for a better salad at half the cost.

The staff are very friendly and efficient, especially for a new location and the food is really good. Prices are a bit steep but you’re paying for a really fresh product. I had the Rebel Chicken Sandwich and a drink and it came to $ 12. It was delicious but I was still hungry. I didn’t see any option to add a side salad but their lunch salads looked like a decent amount of food. I’d probably try a salad next time. Drink selection was very limited and the fridge where they keep the drinks either is too big or hasn’t been filled yet because it looked a little sad when I grabbed something from it. There are tables and a quiet sitting area here too. This place is a much needed alternative in terms of salad bar options and lunch options in the Elgin/Laurier area. They also do catering!
