Civic Shawarma & Pies

The only shawarma place in the glebe I think. Went here as it was the only one close to me and I had a huge shawarma craving. Ordered the «hot chicken shawarma», the chicken was all dried out, it was spicy and the sauce had a really weird taste to it. I didn’t like it, won’t be going back. The owner is really nice so I almost feel bad giving it a bad review.

Ottawa is awash with cheap shawarma joints, but of course the Glebe only has one… and it’s not good. I used to go there often enough because their food was tasty in a pinch. The owner was also very nice to me, which is why it pains me to mention an incident that has kept me from going back.
The restaurant’s cleanliness is pretty good out front, but the back seems to be kinda dirty. However, I love Marroush and chip wagons, so I don’t let that stuff get to me often. But one time, I found chewed up gum in my feta. That was it for me. Gross. Never going back.
However, that could have been an isolated incident. If it was, I still wouldn’t recommend this place as being an exceptional establishment, but if you’re just in the mood for run-​of-​the-​mill cheap shawarma and you’re in the Glebe, you might as well stop by.
