I’ve been coming to Sizzler every Friday with coworkers for lunch since the summer. The food is delicious. However, each successive trip, the service we received has deteriorated, to the point that others who ordered food after us were being served before us. On multiple occasions we were told that they had run out of jerk chicken or potatoes. These are two of their only staples. We’ve always been friendly and pleasant to the staff, but in return we have received deteriorating service. We’ve generated thousands in revenue for the restaurant, but it’s as if the declining service has been because we’re making them do more work. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Sizzler. I will miss the jerk chicken roti, but not the service. Let me know if the members of staff responsible for this resolve the issue.

We purchased a Groupon for Caribbean Sizzler for a trip to our nation’s capital. The Caribbean restaurant in Halifax had closed down and I was craving decent West Indies food– and we were not disappointed. It would be easy to pass by this tiny place, but it would be foolish to do so. The décor is quite nice– lots of wood and earthy hues– and everything is very clean. Staff are relaxed and friendly. And the food? Awesome! The jerk chicken plate was a great choice: so tender and fresh(the rice and cabbage were too), and served in a timely manner. We tried a beef patty and a bowl of fried plantain as well, both of which were most grand. Overall, this was time and money well spent. Even without a Groupon, the prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. Give it a try!

I used to be a pretty frequent visitor to the Caribbean for work — I may not be an expert but I know my way around a plate of curry goat. Caribbean Sizzler is terrific. They use a cafeteria format and move people through pretty efficiently. The seating area is very nice. You could come here for a casual business lunch. Good views of busy Bank Street. The young woman assembling the plates and roti was terrific. A very complete menu(fish, curry coat, curry chicken, jerk chicken and pork, chick peas) and lots of sides(rice and peas, plantain, greens, patties) I had the curry chick peas, rice, cabbage with«goat sauce» on the rice.(Not exactly the vegetarian option but very tasty). Lots of people ordering roti — looked pretty good. They also have soft drinks, beer(domestic and Carib) but my pick was the homemade ginger beer. It was terrific! Lots of ginger/lots of bite. Wish they were open in the evenings!

A friend of mine recommended this place for some delicious curried dishes in the downtown area and boy was she right! I enjoyed their curried goat(a blast from my past), great flavor and a little heat, just the way I like it. They have traditional Jamaican beer there, first time trying«dragon stout» and I was impressed as well! I will be visiting them again soon to try something new, price was appropriate too.

Dude, all i can say is they served me rotten fish. I’m as serious as a kick in the head. It happened a couple years ago, I ordered escovitched snapper, my favorite dish period. Took it to go, got home opened it up and it was disgusting. How that happened I will never know. I have walked by the place well over 100 times since then. They are not even worth the energy it would take to berate them for serving rotten fish. That is some serious negligence! Its all very subjective, but I know food and I would only recommend this place if you want to die a slow death by rotten fish!
