There are not manyf garden centers in North York so the year round selection of products is really good… but for a cost. This is certainly not a budget minding center but often you get what you pay for. The plant selection is good and lots of interior fittings to suit any need. Certainly a good garden center for speciality products but the big box stores can beat them on price and selection any day.

Anyone planning on doing some very last minute Christmas Tree/Decorations shopping? I absolutely love Sheridan for their tree/decoration selection… you walk in the covered, outdoor area and you are immediately hit with that glorious crisp, fresh, pine smell. Christmas Trees are available from the small to the huge, and they are all attached to the ceilings(they are hanging)…leaving you to turn the tree of choice around ensuring no imperfection nor blemish. The one fat tree just called to my parents and I — practically ready to burst from the strings keeping it together. It was right in front and we bee-lined towards it, shrieking and gasping how cute and bushy it was. The older sales associate must have heard our $$$ and bee lined towards us and helped us wrap the tree and explain how to pay etc… He also upsold us the most expensive Tree stand(at $ 60!!) and patiently told us how to put it together, how to take care of the tree, and what other products to buy. As we were buying fresh, we needed to buy some chemical water(more $$) and another wilt free product($$)…man, one tree is no chump change. And, the tree needs at least 4 litres of water a day!!! Sheridan also has some of the most beautifully pre-made potted Christmas plants, wreaths, and other flowers to put indoors and/or outdoors. However, at $ 150 per plant, my family decided to buy individual Fern/Pine needles and make our own version. Well, I am no Martha Stewart, but all in the spirit of Christmas… Decorations are so beautiful here: Christmas shiny balls, reindeer’s made out of Birch Wood, Poinsetta’s, the list goes on. It’s not cheap, but the service is spot on here(very knowledgeable for those who not green thumbs) and the selection top quality.

I always enjoy shopping at Sheridan Nurseries. Great selections of plants, flowers and annuals. Prices might be a little bit more than supermarket/Walmart, but way better in quality and the plants are much healthier too. Staffs are knowledgeable in helping in lawn care, tree maintenance and thus can recommend the right products and the necessary procedures in helping to solve your problems. Free seminars on various topics in gardening: lawn care, evergreen, how to start a water garden… informative and inspiring… BTW, love all the patio furniture here… I am dreaming about having a drink on one of those loungers underneath the star…
