The only time I’ve bought from here was a few small items at 70% off when they recently moved to a new storefront. First of all, everything is outrageously overpriced. Second, the decorative items sold are in a style that might be called«ersatz Tuscan villa in Provence.» Sort of vaguely mediterranean, a bit gaudy and sometimes bordering on tacky, and not really all that authentic. After reading the article the Star had a few months ago about the owner’s summer place, I think the style could also be called«Elderly queen decorating a cottage.»

This is a great knick-knack store and I was very happy that it came to Bayview Village. It’s a great place to find house-warming and hostess gifts. When walking in the store, kitsch-y furniture, Vera Wang and Kate Spade picture frames, Fashion coffee-books, make-up and household products all surround the store. For those who like the product Fresh, an extensive collection is also sold here. I think this store is like a museum — it’s very cool to just walk around and see the hodge-podge of things. Although expensive, I do like buying my Christmas cards here… AFTER Christmas because the discounts are intense and the cards here are the anti-thesis of the Shoppers variety(red and green with a Tree and/or the Three Kings on the cover and inside a Happy Holidays in that tacky curvsy-font…) I once found a card here priced at $ 18!!!(which I bought later on sale at $ 2), but that just goes to show you the kind of store Teatro Verde is. Even if you’re not looking to buy anything, walk in. The sales associates never pester so you don’t have to feel harassed by the constant can-I-help, can-I-help. Fresh flowers are sold here but are the minimalist look(so don’t expect roses and tulips).

I think this store is great for gifts… I have so many friends and relatives that I would love to buy for but can’t, They have the WORST return policy ever. Everything is a FINALSALE. All regular priced items are final — no exchange and no refunds. I understand no refunds… but how can you possibly buy a gift for someone if the option of exchange is not possible. Too bad… I will not be returning.
