Nice Nails & Spa

I have gone to Nice Nails on many occasions and the pedi/​mani is getting worse rather than better. Below is a message I sent to the Manager almost 2 weeks ago via their site and a follow up… no response; you be the judge on whether you want to go there… it’s one thing for an employee not to do a proper job, but when it’s escalated and no response = no business from me. LOTS of other places to give my $$$ to.
To the Manager,
i was just at your place this afternoon (around 4pm) to have an underarm wax and mani/​pedi. I am very disappointed with the service I received with respect to my mani/pedi…I barely got any sort of massage on my feet; nothing on my legs… and the same for my hands! I also did not get any mask /​product on my legs and/​or a hot towel — I saw the other ladies with a mud mask or something on their legs. What’s ironic is this round, I chose not to have any polish on either hands or feet, as I plan to come back in about 3 weeks before holidays to have another. The icing on the cake is the fact that I didn’t even get a stamp on my card! I put it on the counter when I paid for my services ($ 45), and only realized when I was at Shoppers when I opened my wallet. I live around Yonge and Lawrence and I pass at least 4 other places for me to get my services done, but I choose your establishment as the service is usually good. But the last time and today… I will reconsider.
I trust you will contact me to speak to this complaint. Note: You (man) were not around when I was leaving, and the young lady that completed all my services (wearing a sweater with stars on it) checked me out. Very disappointed.

My usual place where I go for waxing was fully booked so decided to check out Nice Nails one day. They offer all types of waxing along with manicures and pedicures. I have only tried their leg waxing. Close-​ish to York Mills Station, you can also find a lot of free street parking in the vicinity. You will find a lot of shops to check out for pre or post waxing (Rolling Pin for donuts, Butter Avenue for macaroons, Aroma for coffee etc). There’s no need to worry about booking an appointment as there’s always someone available. They don’t have online booking so call ahead if worried. Finally, the pricing is not too steep; for a full leg wax, it’s under the usual $ 40. This place is definitely not my ‘go to,’ but if I’m in a pinch, I’ll come here for waxing.

Well, I gave this place too many chances (as much as four), should have never bothered… I came there because they boast autoclave sterilization of the kits — saw an autoclave but never saw anybody putting anything there or taking anything out. Beyond that, it’s exactly what the other reviewer was referring to — soaking water and hot towels are too hot, hand/​foot cream has a terrible smell (something like acetone mixed with glycerin, although this cream is pink in colour; you have to wash your hands ten times to get rid off the smell), half of the staff has really poor manicure/​pedicure technique, so they are hurting you and when you voice our your concerns, they look at you as if you are really inconveniencing them, pretend ore really don’t understand and keep doing what they were doing, and if you insist, they engage into 10 minutes loud discussion in some kind of Asian language between themselves and never address your concern or request to modify or stop what they were doing. It appears that the actual mani/​pedi staff barely speaks any English beyond «yes» and «no», the shift supervisor speaks some English but once again, not enough to understand the issue. To some reason their OPI takes 3 hours to completely dry, so all four times I ended up with ruined color two hours I left the place. Their TV is either on 24H news or some kind of terrible show, so the environment is very far from being relaxing… In fact, each time I came there, I left stressed from trying to manage the services and from unpleasant environment. Bottom line, look elsewhere…

I was invited unexpectedly to have a pedicure at this place.
My main concern with this place was the water for the foot soak was burning hot. At first, I thought it was just me (as it had been a few years since my last pedicure) and slowly got used to the temperature. However, when they were rinsing my feet after the massage, the water coming out of the tap was too hot and I had to say something. My friend, who has pedicures more often, confirmed my suspicion that the water was «hotter than normal».
All three customers (including myself) who were in at this time, each had complaints/​concerns about the treatment we were receiving. When we brought our individual concerns to the staff, they would look at us as if they didn’t understand and then spend the next 5 minutes engaged in non-​English discussion about the concern before replying. It felt as though they would reluctantly change their treatment to meet our requests but it was not their preference.
Prices are on par with other nail salons in the area and encourage you to pay cash, although they do accept debit and credit.
