the eye exam was a bit pricey, I do have to admit that. however, the exam was very comprehensive I thought and very thorough. the staff was very nice and knew what they were doing. I love the fact that they don’t pressure you into buying glasses or contacts from them. other places that I’ve been to tend to pressure you and I always found that very uncomfortable.

Eye exams here are way overpriced.
Antoinette Dumalo charges $ 107 for a «complete» eye exam and updated prescription. But if you wear contacts, you are hit with an additional $ 80 charge when you show up for your appointment, for a total of $ 187. She will refuse to discuss anything relating to your wearing of contact lenses during the so-​called «complete» eye exam unless you pay the extra fee. This optometrist seems more concerned about profit than good customer service.

In response to the comment below from Antoinette D: The time to ensure customer satisfaction was when I was in the store. You chose not to take responsibility and cover your employee’s «miscommunication.» This in my mind does not reflect concern for the patient. When MSP stopped covering eye exams, we were told to expect to pay a fee of «around $ 80.» Not two separate fees if you happen to wear both glasses and contacts and happen to have questions about your use of both. What next, separate charges for left and right eyes? I have ONE pair of eyes, not two. A basic exam should be an opportunity for a customer to discuss any concerns related to their vision correction.

I was in need of an optometrist in North Van once I moved from Yaletown to North Van. I did a google search, and voila, Dr. Dumalo came up. I have been going here for the past few years and have always received fast and efficient service from all of the employees.
To be honest, I have actually never met with Dr. Dumalo. Her associate, Dr. Strong has checked my eyes on a couple of occasions and has always been very helpful and professional. I come here every few months or so to pick up some more contacts. Overall, great place and highly recommended!
