Friendly staff. Open kitchen sandwich shop. Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was out of this world. I imagine everything else on the menu would be inline. I will return.

The food is not good. The pickled onion or coleslaw way to sour, the bread is soggy. The beef brisket is not good either. I don’t think canned artichoke has any place in the sandwich. I would not go back again, even if it is free!

Wow, tough Unilocalers here, but that was months ago; think it’s under new ownership but i digress… Ordered their famous pulled pork over their roasted brisket, and i sure made a delicious choice. Moist, with chiptotle sauce, and with coleslaw for that soft crunchiness, in 2 good-size, square buns. Nice touch, good to absorb the sauces. Pretty funky décor inside, as well as the zig-zag counter tops. casual date worthy. Definite recommend over subway/quiznos albeit different, but same category. Free parking, yay, it’s not Vancouver. apparently, will be offering pizza soon too.

This review is for the Basil’s Subs Third St. location in North Vancouver. I couldn’t find that location on Unilocal,so I’m just writing on the page for this one. I was there tonight using a coupon from LivingSocial. A friend gave it to us, so it was essentially free for me. I wasn’t expecting much and I was still disappointed. I had saffron chicken, and my friend had the pulled pork. There was hardly any chicken on the bun at all, and it was thin, tough, and cold. The pulled pork was ok, but the bun was covered in some sort of powder, which tasted awful and stuck to your face. We were the only people there, except for the one and only employee, who clearly didn’t know what she was doing. The entire experience was a disappointment, from the dark restaurant, to the loud(terrible) music, really bad food, and what seemed to be an make-shift restaurant with duct tape covering up items that used to be on the menu, and a huge pile of dishes in the sink, very messy quarters. I had low expectations, and I was still disappointed… that says allot. However, I have been to the Basil’s on Pemberton… and it was better, but not great. Avoid Basil’s Subs on W 3rd Street at all costs!

This review is for the north vancouver location on 3rd st. I got the groupon offer«catered meal for 10» for $ 45 dlls you would get 10 sanwiches(pulled pork, chicken or lamb), sounded like a great deal. l called to get the order, and l was surprised they said they won’t deliver, when catered is a synonimum of delivered, after arranging time and day for the now pick up, l had to take a 45 min each way ride to get the sanwiches, l was surprised when l got to the place that they charged me $ 17.50 for tax, l was so overwhelmed so l paid and left, when l got to the office we noticed the sanwiches weren’t as good as normal, 3 of them were made of ham, and the chicken one was super thin, anyway l calculated the tax and 17.50 didn’t make any sense at all, because the sanwiches retailed for 8 – 9 dlls each, l also double check the deal and it didn’t say anywhere that l had to pay for tax, l called basils sub to complain, and of course l got no call back, after calling manager Sammy and leaving a vm, so l called groupon and they gave me my 45 dlls back, so it wasn’t that bad paying 17.50 for those 10 sandwiches, but really don’t trust this company at all… they lost a lot of customers already.

Well i used to come here often last year when it first opened. My friends and I would make it a regular quick stop lunch spot because the quality was good and the price was great for a full belly. It seems as though they have changed suppliers on a number of the products like the meats and breads. I used to get the bread double toasted and it would come out nice and crispy, now just seems like they warmed it up in the microwave. The steak sandwich feels like the roast beef and less of it, and although I order it the same as before, the sauce and condiments drip all over and make the sandwich soggy. I tried one of the new items on the menu(gypsy chicken), thinking a change would do me good. the chicken was bone dry, hard as a rock and was an all around unpleasant taste. I would have rated this place a solid 3 last year, but it has gone downhill since and I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.

Delicious. I go weekly for their incredible steak wrap — or steak salad… Their steak is soft and tender… very very good. Service is always very attentive and kind! I no longer frequent subway bc I can get a sandwich at a fraction of the cost and know that lots of love went into the ingredients. My husband loves their pulled beef and pulled pork. OH yes — the serving sizes are large and will fill you up generously!

* Decent sandwiches * Pemberton Ave. is a kind of industrial setting. But there are some decent food options in the area. I hadn’t noticed this sandwich shop before and decided to pop in. I saw BBQ pulled beef on the menu and had to give it a try! You order ala subway on a sandwich line and then grab a seat with your sandwich. But they are a step above a typical sandwich bar with some nice little touches in the topping selections, as well as plating up your sandwich on a wooden board covered with checkered paper. The setting itself is also a bit nicer than a typical sandwich bar. The BBQ beef did not taste smoked at all. I think it was more the oven roasted and then stewed in sauce variety. That said, it was very tender. They served it on a very fresh ciabatta with some slaw and chipotle dressing. It wasn’t bad for the stewed in sauce variety of pulled beef. Photo: I’ll likely return but will stay away from their«BBQ» meats as it is disappointing when something is called BBQ but the only BBQ is being stewed in a sauce. The other sandwich options do look interesting, and I’m looking forward to trying their roast lamb sandwich on a future visit.

This review is for the 3rd street location. A friend of mine had bought a SocialShopper deal a week ago where $ 8 is worth $ 16. On the website it stated that subs were mostly $ 7.95. We had a good chuckle to ourselves when we saw stickers all over the pricing that said $ 8.75. No big deal… We both ordered the steak and found out they no longer carry it, we then asked for beef brisket and she said she only has enough beef for sandwich. So I order the beef brisket and my friend orders the chicken pesto. She ends up making me the pulled beef sandwich. An annoying experience to say the least but there’s no denying that the subs are delicious. Be aware that they are very messy and you’ll likely need a fork to eat the other half of your sandwich that oozed out onto your tray.

THEBEST! I had no idea this was here until about 2 weeks ago, and I’ve been there 4 times already. Their pulled pork sandwhiches are to die for– I just get the recommended sauces. I tried the chicken once and it was pretty good as well. I wish I had known they were having a living social deal, I would have bought a few certificates. They put a LOT of meat on their sandwhiches– I usually eat half and save the rest for the next day(or a midnight snack). So much better than subway… there’s just no comparison. Great fast food(which should be an oxymoron, but here, it’s truth)

Great sandwiches. It’s nice to have another sandwich/sub shop option but with so many different options of real meat that’s slow cooked. The sauces are unique but I often go with the sauce that’s recommended. So glad I picked up a Living Social deal that will make my next visit even more enjoyable.
